Is the 2023 Chevrolet Colorado a BETTER truck to buy than a GMC Canyon?

The Colorado is all new from Chevy for 2023. On the outside you will see an all new look. Under the hood is a 2.7L turbocharged inline-4 that produces 310HP & is mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission. On the inside there is an 11in infotainment system and 8in digital gauge cluster. Is the 2023 Chevrolet Colorado a BETTER truck to buy than a GMC Canyon?

Love the humor in your vids! I'm a month into owning my radiant red tintcoat '23 Z71 and just back from a 600 mile road trip. I'm 6'5", my other ride is a '22 BMW X5, and bottom line, the Colorado was every bit as quiet as the luxury SUV with the 18" wheels and Wranglers, and just as comfortable. I was able to pass slow vehicles on state highways just fine; got 23.2 MPG on the trip. It drives and handles beautifully. Agree it's missing the power passenger seat, and a heads up display with the tech package would be nice, but overall, I love this truck!

I bought a Z71 looks just like your test truck, love it from top to bottom. I'm 74 and have never thought much about the On Star system, thought it was kind of a waste of time and money. Yesterday I was out on a US hi way (Paved) out of cell reach and had a rapid decompression of my right rear tire. With only 470 miles on it. I hit something, don't know what it was but it took out the side wall. I gone a low pressure warning on the screen and 3 or 4 seconds later realized the tire was plum out of air. I used the On Star button, was connected immediately and had a service truck enroute shortly there after. After my 2 month trial period with On Star I'll be subscribing to it for sure. Oh and by the way mine has a front facing camera at slow speed as well as a ground clearance camera.

I opted for the z71 Colorado. No complaints here im very happy with the locking rear differential, i also went with the high output tune.. you step on it, & youll have a huge smile on ur face. Its much quicker than some “sports cars” out there. A pretty great package

I have a 2000 GMC Sonoma (S10) and I would never, EVER trade it for a new truck. Starts every time, paid for, low insurance, low taxes and extremely reliable. Minor issues from time to time. A lot of my buddies have trucks, full size and midsize, from that era and we all say the same thing. Everyone we know that bought new trucks in the last 5/10 years say they have nothing but trouble with them. That's awful considering the current prices.

We just got the AT4 w/prem package and the big all terrain tires. We test drove Z71 and the AT4 loved the new deep bronze color. Much nicer interior. Rides well on the street, which was important to be able to use it daily as well. We liked the aggressive look of the AT4, the front end looks more intense. But in general same vehicle. Less costly on Chevy end. Here in New England they hard to cone by as not a huge production release yet. Thanks, Joe, for all the videos u and the team bring to us all.

Gord Monteath we are loving it. Got great power. Rides well. Tire noise I expected more, but they put in some good stuffing, so to speak to quiet that exterior noise. Again we don't care the rear seating is tight for adults as it is for the dog. We were very surprised after haveca 2012 suv and now having a $51k vehicle the insurance was just a min amount more than what we paid which is very cheap. Test drive them as much as you can to get the feel. For a truck to us it has been great.

They have way more low end torque than the V6. It's right up there with the diesel engine even at 1500 rpms.. There is a chart out there with GM's engineer showing the torque levels for all 3 engines.

Recently got the Colorado trail boss in Sand Dune metallic. Love every bit of it. Originally wanted a Silverado LT TB as they had the new infotainment screen but with the price I’d be shooting myself in the leg and they didn’t offer the dune brown on TB model anymore only the ZR2, and the day I went to go shop they just so happened to have a Sand dune Colorado TB with all the bells n whistles I was looking for, for damn near half the price. Next thing you know I’m off the lot with 3 miles on the odometer. It was definitely meant to be that truck had barely came off the train that day I even had to wait for them to do the PDI and remove all the plastic. Definitely worth the price and it’s a much more practical truck than a big Silverado just to show off for nobody, because who cares at the end of the day it’s what you want!

The 2023 Chevy Colorado Trail Boss looks great and has the cheaper off road package so that sweet spot if you don't have the money for the ZR2 or don't like the looks of the Canyons

I would get the Tail Boss because I like the lines and grill over all the Canyons. The Trail Boss over the Z71 and ZR2 because cheaper and 2" lift and 3" wider track over the Z71

You can only get the high output on the ZR2. Or a tune on lower trims to reach that. The canyon has high output on every trim.

I wanted the ZR2 but I did not want the sport bar its a bit much for me but when you deselect the sport bar you loose allot of things that I want like underbody cameras , the winch , the beadlocks , If I could have opted for the zr2 with everything minus the sport bar I would have gotten it , so I settled for the GMC atx4 because its a cleaner look without the sport bar

My Z71 is still on order can't wait. One the hitch DOES NOT come standard for the Z71 you have to opt for the Advanced Tow Package to get the hitch (at least that way when I ordered). Second, the fact front turn signals and rear lights are not LED is a joke... I'll be swapping the bulbs to LED if not the entire light assembly to aftermarket LED if/when they're available. The antenna is ugly AF too, I'll be swapping that to shark fin when I can. A power rear window would have been nice as well as power front passenger adjustments. Mine is almost fully loaded, OTD is going to be around $51k, I think that price should have included the above gripes.

Hard not to notice that nitro yellow baby in the sea of grey and white and black. I definitely like the size. What is up with all these manufactures putting the super dorky mud flap looking thing in front of the rear tire? Incandescent blubs on a new vehicle...zonk. Interior looks good. Be nice to see lockable storage for the center console and rear seat The 47K sticker is a lot for a 4 banger truck in my opinion. There are lots of choices to spend that kind of coin.

Had the ZR2 on order since April and the dates got pushed back a few times into August. So my dealer got a Denali in. Same price and I’m so glad I got that. The interior is MUCH nicer imo and plus I don’t really off road so the Denali is so perfect.

Wow, they really put a high premium on the two digital displays. You can get a full-size truck for 47k with the same engine. Plus there’s room in the backseat so you can actually sit in it.

Ok algorithms get to work based on the info I’m dropping. The truck I drove at work was a z71. First day I drove it my pickle got tickled and now with all these rains here in Florida I’m looking to get out of my accord sport and into a truck. The Colorado seems like a good fit. Plus I’ve always said if im going to buy a truck it has to be an American made truck.

If you like the long bed like I have on my 2017 Colorado crew cab you will have to wait for the Tacoma. I love many of the changes but I never go off road so I buy a truck to do truck things. That means the bed is very important. It is a truck after all so a little 5' uncovered trunk doesn't do it for me.

@@bohemianraceart Yes. As of now only the Japanese offerings have the long bed option with a crew cab. I had the Nissan Titan king cab before the Colorado crew cab long bed. Pretty much the same size bed in both of those. I would prefer to buy one of the new GM offerings but only if they bring back the long bed option. Thankfully my Colorado is still in new condition with only 38 grand on the odometer and I still really like it.

OMG For the price on this, it should have way more quality. I realize this isn’t luxury; however, I’ve been looking for a classy luxury truck and I have yet to find anything that fits into this exact category. I’m not crazy about Ford or Toyota and Nissan is still plain. Mmmmmm, maybe will have to wait for the Canyon but I don’t think GMC is luxury or comfortable for long trips. Dodge??? Don’t know yet, will see 🙂

I think they know the market is changing and don’t want to drop prices so they are just trickling them out slowly. But worth the Tacoma coming out that’s a huge mistake if so. I’m looking for a ZR2 or AT4 and can’t get one and don’t know which one I want either probably AT4 don’t really need lockers for my use, but when the TRD Pro comes out that may be it

The Z71 rides terribly compared to a Trail Boss. Why? Because the TB has the suspension from the Canyons. The arm rests material in the Z71 is terrible as well. Felt rough and looked cheap.
