I prefer the swoopy I and classy interior of the Alfa, BMW can keep the Square box infotainment on top of the dash. It’s all about the driving experience. It’s so comfortable, I get a bad back in all other seats. Tyres need to be warm before spirited driving.

That is a good question. My M2C was a stick and so felt fun even at normal speeds. however when pushing it, at time the suspension (fully stock) felt a bit jittery and not very compliant. But thats really at like 7 or 8 tenths. The QF feels fun and composed all the time. It never lets you forget its a special car... the brakes are a bit too sensitive at slow speeds. the sounds it makes are more pronounced than the M2Cs. THe QF feels more special more of the time. At fast speeds the QF doesnt disappoint. BUT the QF feels like it runs out of revs too fash where the M2C never really feels like that. Just so much usable torque everywhere. Overall, both great cars but the M2C would still be my preference if I didnt have a family to haul around, mostly for the ability to shift my own gears. But I dont think there is much that can beat the balance of the QF across so many categories. Lastly, lets not forget that BMW has HUGE aftermarket support and community. The Alfa is far behind in that respect but that doesn detract from its experience. What a great problem to have!

You really get what the designers’ objectives were for the QV. Great balance of performance, looks, comfort, and usability. It’s really a four door GT car. Love it on road trips. Kinda wish I got the carbon seats as they really make the interior look extra special.Tried them again in the showroom recently and they fit well for me. I would miss the heated seats but maybe they won’t be that cold with the Alcantara inserts. I really miss the excellent brake feel in the BMWs I’ve had over the past 40+ years. I’ve found the last two generations of BMWs not to put a smile on my face. I love the cockpit. A favorite feature is the graceful sweep of the Nappa leather dash with the digital display secondary so you can almost imagine it as an old school analog car. This was an honest review. If you watched it in its entirety you’d know I really came away liking the car. But at this price point buyers do expect more. But it’s just not a perfect car. The interior isn’t the best. I think they could have spent a little more time making it better. But I don’t think it’s a deal breaker on this car. I always read this BS written by Americans (who in 99% of cases have never owned an Alfa Romeo), it would be time to talk about what one knows instead of doing it at random.

The BMW 3 series was born in 1975, until the 1980s they were known not only for their beauty but also for their poor roadholding unlike Alfa Romeo and Lancia, but from here began the management crisis of Alfa Romeo and the rise of the BMW models which replaced the Alfa in the imagination of sports sedans, then a brief blaze in the 90s of Alfa which went to Germany to beat all the German brands in the DTM (German GT touring championship). When you have lived with that, then talk to me about what you are willing to deal with. I never said it’s not possible. Just not that practical. Know what makes BMW so great? The community. Very welcoming, warm, and helpful. Your comment doesn’t make me feel the same about Alfa owners. Try and remember that a review isn’t a personal attack. It’s a review. I do it to help people who are potentially looking to buy one. You can help by showing them that current owners are open and welcoming as well. Calling someone a poser for their car decisions seems petty. If I had all the money in the world, I’d own a Giulia too. I appreciate your perspective and hope that my words give you something to consider as well. .

You don't buy an Alfa Romeo just because of a huge infotainment system, the quality of the backview camera or the backseat room...🤣 I bought a my22 Giulia in december last year. Not the Quadrifoglio, but a Veloce Q4 (280 hp/8 speed automatic/AWD) and it's by far the best car i've ever had. So agile, responsible and emotional! Pure joy! Nothing against german cars. I'm german but these Beamer's Audi's and Mercedes are a f**** PLAGUE over here! Even the M's, RS's and AMG's! Absolutely NOTHING special. Nobody looks at these cars here because you see them dozens of times in almost every parking lot or at every red traffic light. It's different with the Alfa Giulia. People look interested, ask questions or give compliments. This car is simply a pleasure in every respect! Forza Alfa! 🍀🏁

It’s an interesting point. Where the German cars are plentiful they are the boring norm. I buy that. However here in the states it just depends. We have a huge country and people have so many different preferences. As for the quality of the Alfa interior, it’s not bad. But it’s not great for a car that costs $90k. If this was a $45k car, I’d say sure. But at double that price point, it’s a bit lackluster. But if you are a fan, you are a fan.

Have 2017 model just crossed 40K miles. It is my daily driver April to November weather allowing. I don't drive it in snow or below 50 degrees with tires I use as they lose a lot of grip below that. The PSD is a really fair review particularly because it recognizes that the design is about driving it not about IT tech. That is a value choice which of course is idiosyncratic to both the manufacturer and the buyer. Personally I find the overly screen focused interiors of current BMW's enough of a turnoff that I wouldn't consider buying one. The way the screen is accentuated in a design way visually separating it from the planes of the dash immediately raises the question, for me, are you here to drive or watch TV? I love the way the screen in the Alfa can be turned off and you won't know it exists until you need it for something For everything I need it for it's simple and easy. I don't really understand the beef on the back up camera either it is more than adequate. If that is a deciding factor in your purchase decision than you and I are buying the vehicle for different reasons. I've never done a burn out in my Alfa and never will but I've got more than 1000 miles of track time on it and it has helped me become a much better track driver. It's steering is unparalleled by any car I've driven on a track (Ferraris, Lambos, Audi R8's and more), the carbon ceramic brakes haven't begun to show wear and they inspire great confidence. The instructor who was in the right seat with me at Watkins Glen a couple of weeks ago was kind of shocked by how capable the car was as he hadn't been in one before. I let him take it out for a few laps and watched his reactions as best I could through our helmets. He was was clearly surprised by the car's capabilities he drove it hard and fast but probably only to 85% since it wasn't his car. At the end of the session he had a really weird look, that I read as disbelief, on his face and was clearly thinking pretty hard. I asked him what he thought. He said something to the effect "I won't admit it to anyone else but this might be the best stock car I've driven on a track. but I don't want to admit it." I asked him what he meant. " I got to spend some serious time in a new Cayman 4 RS two weeks ago and that was my favorite car ever. But this may be better." Having recently spent time tracking an older Cayman on a track in Germany I can say it is a wonderful car especially if you have to do tracking in an unfamiliar vehicle. It is incredibly neutral, balanced, and predictable, it quickly inspires confidence. It doesn't have the emotional connection of the Quadrifoglio. Alfa's feel different and they get better the longer you know them. I also have another Alfa a 1971 2000GTV-it feels even better to drive than the new one because of the absence of Tech particularly ABS and traction control. That feel is no mistake it is a design signature. That the reviewer understood and expressed that at some level in his initial observations is remarkable and rare and I thank him for seeing it. The only thing I could disagree with is his observation that the Michelin Pilots would make for better performance. I'm on my 6th set of tires 2 of the Pirellis, 3 of the Michelins, and currently Contis. On a performance level the Pirellis are still the best but the Contis are really good and in the rain are way better than the Pirellis. I liked my first two sets of Michelins but then were clearly less capable than the PIrelli's but they lasted 25% longer so they were a good trade off. The last set of Michelins was awful. Never got them on the track and they were bald in the back at 6300 miles.

You are welcome. I didn't mention it in what I said but I also really liked how you said you'd have to choose the BMW over it because of the back seat being bigger. That is a really good reason for you, in your situation, for making that choice. So often reviewers don't realize that the choices they make are less about the car and more about their needs. That is exactly the right reason to make your choice but it isn't necessarily a reason to dis the car being reviewed. Your ability to be clear and reasonably neutral will bring me back to your reviews. Thanks!@@PointShiftDrive

I find the new BMWs extremely bad in interior design, with cheap-looking screens and questionable plastic "crystal lookalike", button placements, and color options. They just look premium because they use a lot of angles and lines " busy looking" design. But materials arent that premium at all. Fake leather, fake aluminum, and fake carbon are a lot more common now. Slaping a 20-inch screen on the dash isn't a premium design.

@@PointShiftDrive I Had the g20 and g05. They were not bad cars. The interior is not of bad quality. Yes, the plastic is great put together, but that doesn't mean it is of exceptional quality. Buttons galore in the middle console and around the shifter aren't the most ergonomic either. Using the same steering wheel for all models that is too thick was annoying too.
