I loved the rc390 since it came out in 2015. I finally made the decision and bought a brand new one 3 years ago. I have had no issues, tons of fun, and a real head turner. People comment on it all the time.

I bought a 2022 overstock RC390 a month ago, its been track only so far, ive got ~6 hours seat time on it and i love it. Its my first experience with a sport bike as i stuck to dual sports in the past and i love it, super light, power isnt intimidating at all, and its a beautiful bike at that. Really glad i picked it up over an R3

I bought a 2022 RC 390 a few months ago, and it is indeed a great bike. However after test riding a cfmotto 450ss recently I’ve got to say I wish I went with the ninja 400 or 450ss. The parallel twin is SIGNIFICANTLY more smooth than the single cylinder with the KTM. The riding positions aren’t insanely different from eachother, nor the power output based on what I felt. The throttle of the KTM is a little more twitchy, and the quick shifter is great when fully pinned; but if I were to go back I’d pick up a twin cylinder beginner bike instead- or even something around the 650cc area.
@synaethetic Жыл бұрын
Another thing to note; the 450ss felt way more stable and less influenced by the wind than my rc390 at highway speeds.
@ritwik0 Жыл бұрын
For first bike one should begin with a single cyl. Yes more cyl is more smooth but as a beginner you would master it then moving up would be easier.

I'm currently on the hunt for my first bike and the rc390 seems to be the front runner. 1 because as yammy said it's a fantastic beginner bike and 2 when I do upgrade to a big boy bike I'll have a fun, nimble crotch rocket to zap around the track on without having to worry about damaging my road bike.
@jamesbanksco Жыл бұрын
That’s exactly why I bought mine. Only thing that I’ll say is if you plan on doing lots of 1hr+ long distance rides with lots of highways then you will be uncomfortable on it.

For me, the RC390 case is pretty simple, I see the competitors as "only begginers" kind of bikes, whereas the RC is the one I would buy (I actually did) even after owning 600cc/1000cc bikes.
@leanit5756 Жыл бұрын
Me too, it sits right next to my (3rd) R1. After riding for 47 years, and having a fair bit of track time under my belt, it wouldn't be my only bike, but it IS a fun bike as long as the roads are tight enough to keep speeds below about 80 MPH. Love how light and slim it is. Great ergonomics. Great dash. Good suspension, good braking feel, good handling. A test rode a Ninja 400 and thought it was just a cheap beginner's bike. Suspension was ridiculously soft. My wife had a R3, but it too really just felt like a beginner's bike first bike. Not nearly as fun as the RC I didn't think. It is great having a second bike like the RC around to ride with friends on big bikes who aren't particularly fast riders. It is miserable riding a fast bike like a R6 or R1 around with slower riders.

The simple fact that the RC 390 comes stock with the adjustable suspension makes it the best option for ANY beginner. Having the ability to make the bike suit your riding skills while being able to make it better as you increase that level of skill is not seen in this price point.

I’m more of a super too kind of guy and never liked the looks of adventure bikes but the 390 adventure looks great and rides great as well. I also chose it bc even though I’m young and can handle sitting on a sport bike, I know it was gonna be uncomfortable after a decent ride and I live in the country in the middle of nowhere so there’s a lot of bad roads and dirt roads and the 390 RC wouldn’t be the greatest.

I have a KTM RC 390 (2019) Bought with 2,672 miles for €4,500. I've driven it for 8,699 miles, and no joke, I've spent €5,000 on repairs. This is NOT a reliable bike. Completely rebuilt the engine despite always maintaining it well. It's scandalous that this bike is recommended; it's ripping off beginner riders. If you buy a KTM, be cautious and buy it new so you have a warranty because you are going to need it. Mostly because I live in india, and here I hate how people will come to you bike while it's parked and fidget with it's controls. I have an apache rtr 200, it has adjustable levers and I have mine at the 3 setting, and most of the time I park it and come back, the settings are changed. The thing weighs as much as the ktm 690! which has massively more power amd suspension and brakes there is zero reason but price for this bike to weigh more than 270ish pounds all gassed up (a moto3 bike (also a 4 stroke single) weighs 180ish pounds and has a lot more power)...that would not even require ultra exotic components ...yes quality stuff just just not anything crazy
