Very good review. I appreciate how you presented your thoughts. I own one (frozen deep grey) and this is easily the best car I've owned. I can't say anything negative about it (as a regular schmo and without getting super artificial) and I like it more than any M5 or M8 that Ive owned and that says a lot. Really thought I'd miss the incredibly performing and sounding twin turbo v8 but I do not. I do have a level two charger in the garage, which undoubtedly adds another level of love for this car. Extremely happy with this car and hope it have it for as long as possible.

Not sure why so many people do not like the look of this new i5. I think it looks pretty nice and the interior is so superior to a Tesla. Maybe people do not like the color?

That train already left the station I'm an ICE fan and love my 6MT cars, but within the next 10-20 years more people will be in EVs than combustion due to politicians and governments worldwide trying to push us into them.

@@cantouring7707 I'm holding on to my ICE sports car as long as I can, but I can see the changes happening where I live. More and more people are driving EVs and it's only a matter of time before there are more EVs on the road than ICE vehicles.

Ok I loved the review but had to give it a 👎 because he acknowledges everyone is mostly interested in the range. He then says it delivers close to the promised range BUT NEVER SAYS WHAT THAT PROMISE IS. That's a massive bait and not deliver. We want to know wjat you got in that aspect. Your review of the car is stellar. Keep up the good work. I'm a happy and supportive subscriber.

@@BrianMakse yep I found it you are correct. Changing my down vote. Three things I wish BMW would do. 1) follow suit from some of the other automakers and just adopt the Tesla charging dock. The infrastructure is just unmatched. 2) Work on the efficiency of the power train.84kw should get better range. 3) and I have to acknowledge there are packaging reasons why this last one isn't practical at the moment... "Make the frunk" functional. I realized it may not be possible because they will need that space for motor in an ICE variant. Great review, very engaging and fun.

I'm a BMW guy on my 7th car. However BMW is losing me with the new iDrive. Tesla's software is much superior which plays a big role with the new generation.

Tesla puts tech first, while BMW puts drivers first and until that changes, BMWs are my choice.

@BrianMakse, what do you mean by "drivers first"? Please explain. Is this better than the Model S? I am debating, as the Model S has the technology and handles well too. I haven't had a chance to test drive this yet, but I will soon.

Pretty ugly car like most of the new BMWs coming out. I take your word that it drives incredible as I really value your expertise. But not ready to take the plunge on an ugly electric BMW. That is why the X6 M60i is on order for Christmas delivery. Yes I know that is ugly too but it is ICE.

That’s the thing. If someone is ready for an EV, I have to recommend this one. I’m no ready for an EV in my garage either, but I enjoy some of them, particularly this latest batch of BMWs.

Ah, but it drives so well! The closest comparable I have is new i7 vs 760 and while the EV is lovely, I prefer the V8.
