I purchased a 2024 TRAX one year ago as a second car and love it. My 2RS in Crimson Metallic gets 30 mpg, it’s super comfortable for four passengers, it’s fun to drive, it’s very quiet inside, the bluetooth sound system is great, and a 10 foot long board fits in it nicely and clears the dashboard by an inch with the rear hatch closed. Impressive SUV for the price. The comparable Toyota Corolla Cross costs about $6000 more.

Attractive, inexpensive car. Yes, the Toyota-philes will pick it to pieces, but it fills a need in the marketplace. There isn't a Toyota dealer in every small town, but there often is a Chevy dealer. I agree they went a little overboard with some cheap interior choices like the lack of armrest padding and rear fold down armrest, but overall it's a lot of car for the money. As for the 3 cylinder turbo, GM has been selling it in the Trailblazer and Encore GX for five years and I haven't heard anything bad about it's reliability or longevity. I also would trust a 6 speed traditional automatic over a CVT.

I really appreciate how you put as much effort (and zeal) into presenting an affordable compact SUV, as you would with a more expensive car. Chevy did I good job with this model but they are sometimes their own worst enemy. Not sure why they couldn’t just put the 1.3L in the Trax also. The 1.3L can’t cost GM that much more especially if they installed more of these across the Trax AND Trailblazer models. When you get into the upper trim levels it’s no longer a best buy as you can get a better equipped Mazda CX-5 or CX-50 for just a little more money. I think the 1RS is the true value if you are strictly buying a budget vehicle. No digital gauges, digital climate control, or push button start to break. The 1RS is an honest to goodness budget car. If you are thinking about the 2RS or Activ trim I would test drive the Mazdas also. Maybe even a CX-30. The Trax is classified as a subcompact but based on the specs it’s somewhere between subcompact and compact. Regardless, Chevy will sell a ton of these which equals lots of aftermarket product support and a giant supply of used parts 5 years from now. I’ll bet you will be able to get a low mileage used engine for $1500 in the future if you are one of those types that likes to keep a car going and going and going. I honestly hope it does well in the American market. It fills a need right now at a time when everything is too expensive. I could see me buying one of these to have as a secondary vehicle to keep the miles off of our 2017 Toyota Sienna and my older Subaru Forester. No way I’m paying $50k for a new minivan.

It's a very nicely designed vehicle. Comfortable, quiet, peppy, and has a better audio system, more features, nicer interior, better HVAC system, over all better fit and finish and costs thousands less. I don't understand all the complaining over the armrests either. I drive with an elbow on the armrest all the time and had no issues with them feeling too hard -- but maybe that's just me, I'm not pampered or fragile.
