@@RaitisRides nahh..I just don’t think a lot of these new Evs do enough to sway people from a Tesla and I have a feeling they are going to get even better this year. By the time this comes out in 2025 it’ll be outdated as far as range capacity and technology. This car should come stock with the all wheel drive and be sold for no more than 32k if they want it to even have a chance
@4literv6
@4literv6 10 ай бұрын
Exactly and I don't believe that 268 miles either. Volvos own website shows 26.5kwhs consumption per 100 miles in its most efficient trim. The battery is listed at 69kwhs gross capacity with 64kwh useable. So yeah it uses 53kwhs to go 200 miles, that leaves 11 more kwhs to go 75 more miles? Even their own math doesn't ad up here. 220 in awd perf trims and 235 max in rwd epa range is my guess.😀 The 35k price to is for a core no options er rwd model. In other markets it's 5k more to step up to the next level rwd oremium trim, and imo zero dealers will order these base priced model's. So anything on a dealer lot next summer? Is gonna be over 40k in rwd trim and 45s in awd spec. Plus the top daddy pictured here an awd premium perf with glass roof trim? Yeah A leaked us price sheet showing 35-55k and the top spec awd trims in the 52-55k range. Means no tax credits, slow charging at 26mins for a 2025 model year ev. This is already doa vs the tx built larger segment awd with 279 mile range 47k model Y. Which qualifies for the full tax credits and other ev incentives that vary by state. Nm if the cheaper so called smaller model y style compact tesla cuv is actually available for 25-30k made in mx from early 2025. Volvo either needs to make them here in sc with us cells to get the credits? Or just sell them overseas where compact B segment cuvs do very well. The U.S. market ain't that market. And a good looking small ev, with low range built on a Chinese platform with no tax credits isn't it.

If Fisker can get the Pear out mid 24, i suspect volvo may have to drop the price on this to 30k starting. Pear has almost the same wheel base, with seating for 6 comfortably. Eitherway, seeing manufacturers thinking of the working class is always a good thing.

I reserved one of these on day one of the offering, but I'm starting to have some reservations about going through with it...a couple of deal-killers for me, potentially. My main issue is that it has no HUD or roof shade. I called Volvo international to check on that, to see if there will be a HUD option that could be an add-on...nope. It seems a little odd to me that you'd have to divert your driving attention to a screen to your right...making you take your eyes off the road to see your speed, open and close the windows, etc. To me, that seems unsafe. There's plenty of room to add a small HUD just above the wheel and perhaps adding the window controls on the steering wheel. Also, no shade options on that roof window might be an issue for a lot of people. I don't always want light coming into the roof of the vehicle, you know? Perhaps they'll offer a solid, non-glass roof option on the production models, but the rep I spoke to said that it may not be offered. On a positive note, when I called my local Volvo dealer after reserving the vehicle, I asked them if they can/will upcharge the price of the vehicle like Hyundai and MANY other dealerships do. They expressly said that they are not allowed to do that, due to the stipulations and terms in the franchise agreement they have with Volvo. They have to offer the MSRP price, but CAN offer you additional services like extended warranties, naturally. They just can't jack up the price of the vehicle itself beyond the MSRP. That was great news and is why I'm still looking at this model despite the issues, instead of buying the Ioniq 5. The local Hyundai dealership jacked up the price of the I5 by 21% when I got the call to complete the deal and pick it up. That came totally out of left field and made me quite angry at the time. I had reserved it a year earlier and was quoted a MUCH lower delivery price. It's good to know that not every franchise license allows dealership to carte blanche gouge the consumers.

That could possibly change by release, as since the announcement here in Europe there has been numerous grumbles about the dashboard layout. Considering this car is built on the same platform and running gear as the Smart#1. They could/should have given this a similar dashboard layout. So, I am holding out hope they listen to what could be potential customers.

The turn of the head (or a slight glance without lowering your eyes - see the level of the essential information) to the right is no more than lowering your eyes to the display behind the wheel. No one minds the distraction of having to look to the rear view mirrors and questions that distraction from the view ahead. Glancing to the display to the side of the wheel is not taking your eyes from the road ahead. Glancing down at the centre display is. I could go for a HUD however. That would be good. An aftermarket device could be fitted on the dash forward of the sound bar, I’m sure, some of them with accurate GPS speeds.

I happen to agree, and I own a Model Y. On the other hand, the Y is more efficient, I believe it consumes maybe 10% less than the Volvo according to the official numbers shown by the Swedish company.This might be also because, even if more spacious inside and larger on the outside, Y is 17% lighter than the EX30. But the Volvo looks much cuter (or maybe it's a fresh design, and we all have gotten used to the Tesla minimalistic style), and it's a little cheaper, so I could see myself getting into one of them if I could get a good deal.

VOLVO use to be safety #1 priority,, in 1990s, I noticed their car doors were very thick----which provided a thick 6 inch cushion for safety in case of collision happen,, but,, this ev car door looks slim and thin,,, why???

@@chags3512 mostly the fact I still sleep in my parents apartment living room (I said for me). And honestly the charging station. People without homes have to use charging stations and I think that's a HUGE turn off there just not readily available. Until THAT changes, then imo EVs would be viable. But I'm just ur average consumer that's my big gripe.

@@alexis_6266 yeah home charging is the huge game changer for EVs. Cost and convenience are big. Without it, it’s slightly cheaper but less convenient because you still have to go somewhere for fuel and it takes longer if you can’t just plug in and go about your day. Unless you plan to go eat dinner once a week near a charger. Lol

Why didn't they put the Chinese Panda on that tray instead of the moose? At first look I didn't care much for it but after watching your video I can see some interesting design elements. For around town basic transportation at that price point and acceleration potential it could be a good choice. Yes Lori and the crew always do a good job.

@@alanklaus7774 Why the need for people to point out that the company that owns Volvo is Chinese? All I care about is that they don't screw Volvo up the way GM did to Saab which ultimately led to Saab's death. Or the way Ford was starting to do with Volvo, and also Mazda and Jaguar. Volvo is doing great and Geely isn't interfering with its Swedish operation, style and content so why the constant "China owns Volvo" stuff?

I like the exterior look of the vehicle. I think Volvo had previously been looked at as a car for older folks. This type of style could persuade the younger crowd to take a look at Volvo. I’m not liking the interior of the car. I think they went too minimalistic for my taste. I prefer GM’s style of interior like on their Silverado EV and Blazer EV. however this might keep the price point down a little. The acceleration is great, definitely going to be a fun drive but range should have been north of 300 to be competitive.

It’s also a compact car which I really love. Seems the cars in the US keep getting bigger. I have the Kona N and they haven’t given any confirmation that an EV version is coming. They also made the model bigger. Unless the id.2all gets released in the US, EX30 it is.
