The standard version of the Surface Go converts to Windows 10 Home. If you want Pro, you have to pay for the upgrade from Home to Pro. There is a business and education version of the Surface Go that has Windows 10 Pro from the factory, including - on the one I have - Bitlocker enabled in the factory.

My point was that Bitlocker was enabled out of the box on the business Surface Go; the recovery key appeared in my Microsoft account automatically when I used my Microsoft account during the Surface Go's Out of the Box Experience without me taking any deliberate steps to save it there. I subsequently saved the recovery key to "Cloud Storage" (Azure Active Directory) as is normal practice here once I'd joined the device to Azure AD.

I did have the 2017 iPad and then returned it for the 10.5 iPad Pro, I only use it for KZbin,twitch and some web browsing but it’s a really solid product. It’s not cheap but with the use I get out of it I have no regrets buying it.

If you're not looking for gaming speed and want to run a few window programs, this works great. I have the iPad Pro and got tired of taking out my laptop to run a few Windows programs than going back to my Ipad Pro for everything else. This really does cover just about everything I need on one device. Surface Go was on sale and included a keyboard. I added a 256GB MicroSD for less than 50.00. I like this better than the Surface Pro 6 which I felt was just a little too big and heavy.

I think that it is so cute when you call a computer "this guy" !!! I would love to buy all the computers in the world but there is no need for that. It looks cool and the webcam seems to kill any MacBook webcam. I decided to give a try to a Chromebook. I work in education. I picked up the Acer R 13. So far I'm very impressed. Just ordered one of these for personal use! Can't wait to see how it performs. Own a MacBook Pro, however, it's nice to have something light to take on the road or in meetings. Love the iPad, but just find i get stuck with it, either with Photoshop files, or simple things like wanting to save a print as a PDF. (whIch i know there are some apps, but you cannot print to PDF from the print dialogue box which is annoying.) The Surface Go seems like it could be a perfect all rounder, low cost, perfect size for tablet use and able to do a bit of Photoshop etc if needed.

Nathan Bullock hey yes it’s been working really well and actually much faster since a couple of updates! Multitasking works great with no problems (I have the 8gb model) It can do almost everything apart from video editing and heavy gaming but for everything else, even 4K playback is fine! Honestly for the money I think it’s pretty great!

I have an Ipad but I'm waiting for a Windows-based device like this one. Yes, I would get the 128 gig model as it will do much of the on the go type processing I need to do. I have a desktop for more intensive stuff. But for travel, watching videos, surfing the net, and writing, why not? I don't know how much use I'll get with the pen but this would be the time to find out. It probably won't handle the more beefy Photoshop, but I expect it may handle my other favorite, Affinity Photo. But I'll know soon enough. Thanks for the review.

Surface Go works perfectly as a wireless display using the standard 'Projecting to this PC' feature in Windows 10. On Surface Go, Win+P, "Connect to a Wireless Display", then "Projecting to this PC" and set the options accordingly. On the other system, Win+P, "Connect to a Wireless Display" and choose the Surface Go's name. You can have touch, pen, keyboard and mouse/touchpad input from Surface Go passed to the projecting PC, or you can use it as a pure display. I wouldn't want to run video on a wireless display; the performance might be rather poor. If you want video, I would display the video using the Surface Go. However, it works brilliantly as an additional productivity display.

Keep in mind that the Surface Go in this video is the lowest tier model with the worst specs. The reason the 12" MacBook can edit 4K video (I'll be it, not very well) is due to Final Cut Pro X being so optimized for it. So in my opinion this is a competitor to the 12" MacBook as it is mostly cheaper and is made for the same tasks.

There're more than enough budget laptops out there, aren't they? The Surface Go is meant to be very portable, much like a mobile but runs on Windows 10. And as the owner of a SP4, the keyboard is splendid, the total weight is so light that my back doesn't get fucked over like my college friends' did. If you don't want portability, don't buy it, get a laptop instead.

apdroid geek its 700$ Dude. 550 plus keyboard plus tax goes beyond 700$. This aint cheap, they just market it as 400$ to trick their consumers

Lunati q you can still get the 400 dollar version. And it is mostly marketed for students where you can get a campus discount.

Janno_O but most windows app is still not for touch, and you didn't get pen either, at least you still need mouse and keyboard to operate it.

Honestly who cares about speakers. If your watching a movie on a laptop or tablet, you really should just wear headphones anyway

I have a 2018 iPad with Apple pencil, I like the price point of the $400 model of surface go. I would like to see the stylus used on the surface go and how good the stylus is on the surface go for art or drawing ?
