I’m Italian and I visited ALL the Amalfi Coast in 4 days, I didn’t spend over 500€. Shelby made it a luxury vacation and I’m happy for her, but you can get your hotel room in Napoli or Salerno and then take the train or the bus to each little city on the coast. Get street food and go to the little public beaches! 🇮🇹❤️ (Maybe book your hotel a couple month in advance)

You can totally do it on the cheap! I did as a uni student. Stayed in hostels, just took the bus from Naples, public transport around Naples city itself, and buses between the towns on the coast. You can find cheaper places to eat away from the super touristy restaurants too :)

@eljj79684 ай бұрын
@@BB-vo6on yes that’s what I did too! There are markets and supermarkets in bigger towns and cities, but you can always find small bakeries and the like that are affordable (that goes for most places in Europe). I would recommend trying the Lorca pizza cause it’s amazing, and if you do takeaway from just a little place rather than a nice restaurant it will be much cheaper. Also do not miss visiting Pompeii! A few words from European: Italy has very well developed train connections. Trains are cheap and fast. Take advantage of it to save money You don't have to fly to Naples, it will be probably cheaper to fly to Milan and it has the best links by trains everywhere in Italy. Don't stay near Positano or Capri, these are definitely the poshest and expensive locations - everything is super overpriced in there and super crowded, stay somewhere around, take local train to visit for a day or so (of course Capri needs a boat), even more recommend you to book multiple locations and move after few days (unless you really just want to chill)

Flew into Naples, ride service arranged by condo owner to Minori from Naples airport the only way to go. Took water taxi to Positano, Amalfi and Capri from Minori, but in the future will use the public bus system when possible so much cheaper. Maiori has the biggest and best beach on the Amalfi coast, was a short distance from Minori. In the summer both Positano and Amalfi are very crowded try to stay in the smaller towns nearby.

We went to Positano last September and stayed at Le Sirenuse. Shelby, I highly recommend you stay there next time in Positano. You will be serenaded in their 5-star restaurant, probably the best in Amalfi Coast. Amalfi beach sand is ugly, but the water is beautiful. Capri is fabulous and you can see most of it in a day. Another nice activity in Positano is a short drive to Ravello. Dine at Restaurant Belvedere for a fabulous experience. If you can’t walk up/down at least 6 flights of stairs, don’t go to Amalfi because stairs are everywhere. Bring lots of money because the only bargain we discovered is great pizza.

I try to watch these vacations and think of the common person. 60% of people make less than 60k a year, so I'd say this is the top end of what your average person would do? Solo on that income I may go somewhere else that doesn't need the flight, or if you could get a deal on the flight maybe make it work.

If you're flying from the east coast instead of west coast, the flight is closer to $500 (JFK/LGA). which takes a good $1000 out. Same about getting the 2bd instead of a 1 bed (assuming it's a couple). There's ways to make this more "affordable", but honnestly, travel as a whole isn't affordable more than once every 2 years if you aren't making above median household income (without kids) in your area. North Florida, Carolinas, and Virginia are popular beach towns for a reason! Jump in a car (that you already pay for), drive for a day, and you can enjoy a vacation by a nice beach for a "reasonable" fee.
