I’m not totally opposed to having Corenswet’s Superman and Pattinson’s Batman together considering both are young heroes and closer in age which would make more sense, but at the same time, Reeves has something cooking with his story already. DC would suffer if his universe were to be cancelled.

All they need is to make this Batman part of the new DCU and say that the events of the first and second films take place 5-10 years before the events of Superman and all other projects, which is why his world is still so "grounded and realistic". Then put Batman in Justice League or whatever crossover they're going to do there and then let Reeves finish his trilogy the way he wants, apart from everything else. And after that, if Reeves doesn't want to, they can find a new director and make The Brave and the Bold, or whatever they've come up with over the years. It just seems that Pattinson might not want to play this role in a giant franchise for the next 15 years, but I think a fee with many zeros will convince him. This all feels like a Downey and Iron Man situation. Two "grounded" films, then a crossover where the level of fantasticness of the world is multiplied by 10, and then the finale of the trilogy, after which the main actor wants to leave, but he is kept with large fees. The only differences are that Gunn will allow Reeves to finish the trilogy, unlike Favreau, and that a new Batman trilogy will then begin, rather than him simply appearing in a new Justice League, Superman 3, or a Robin/Nightwing movie.

The Batman universe is fine. The only reason The Batman Part II got delayed was because Matt Reaves needed more time to write it. The Penquin is happening and the other stuff are really just rumors. One of the best parts of DC imo is that besides main canon, there are Elseworld stories that can deviate from that. Having the main Gunn DCU as well as other separate movies like The Batman would be create so many more storytelling opportunities and make a potential crisis event more meaningful since we see those universes before and get attached to them

Also considering the fact that we don’t have an actual release date for the penguin show It was supposed to come out last year, got delayed till this year. We got the 2nd trailer, all they gave us was fall 2024. Gunn respects Reeve's work, it's why he didn't force Robert Pattinson into the DCU so I doubt it will stop getting new content.
