If Jesus wasn't sexist, St. Paul certainly was - and I don't mean before Christ converted him from a Christ-persecuting terrorist. Paul was supposed to play a large role in spreading the word of Christ, and this is how he does it: Ephesians 5:22-24 NT: Wives, be subject to your husbands as you are to the Lord. For the husband is the head of the wife just as Christ is the head of the church, the body of which he is the Savior. Just as the church is subject to Christ, so also, wives ought to be, in everything, to their husbands. Basically, compared to women, men are gods. You can't get more sexist than that - or can you? 1 Timothy 2:11-15 NT: Let a woman learn in silence with full submission. I permit no woman to teach or have authority over a man; she is to keep silent. For Adam was formed first, then Eve; and Adam was not deceived, but the woman was deceived and became a transgressor. Yet she will be saved through childbearing, provided they continue in faith and love and holiness, with modesty. If you think I've taken these scriptures out of context, open your own bible to the scriptures I've mentioned and read the context around them. It may look like I've conveniently left out Ephesians 5:25, so here it is: Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her. Love is nice, but Paul is advocating that husbands "love" their wives from a superior standpoint. Merciful love does not equate to sexual equality. And don't even get me started on the number of times Ray Comfort has taken his opponents' arguments out of context. He's as hypocritical as they come. For the record, Christianity is yet another man-made religion.

First of all, you are missing that men are supposed to LAY DOWN THEIR LIVES for their wives--not just love them. You completely ignore the implications of what that means and you're acting like that isn't a big thing. There is NO such commandment for a woman to lay down her life for her husband. NO WHERE does the Bible say that men are gods. What bible are you reading, because it isn't the Christian Bible. They're not even to be TREATED as gods. They are to be submissive to GOD. You also completely ignore this verse: Nevertheless, neither is man independent of woman, nor woman independent of man, in the Lord. For as woman came from man, even so man also comes through woman; but all things are from God. - 1 Corinthians 11-12 AND, this one: There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. - Galatians 3:28 BUT, I know what it is you DO object to, the feminist view that men and women should be interchangeable. Because the Bible clearly states that they aren't--and even biology states this, you find anything that states otherwise as oppressive. BUT, can you get more oppressive than to tell a woman to either ignore her biology to have children, or else have them AND go back to work, while the demands of parenthood--specifically pregnancy and post-partum--is no where NEAR as a toll on a man's body? Yeah, I get it. You're going to pull out the few women who have an easy pregnancy and no post-partum issues and go back to work without complaint and substitute that for the majority. Again...THAT'S oppression. You're also ignoring all the accounts of the interactions between Jesus and Paul and how these verses look in practice. You either have some pretty selective reading of the bible--like your complaint about only loving their wives while ignoring dying for them--or you haven't read enough of the Bible to see what it really means. I get it, though. It's really hard to follow more than one theology. It's pretty clear that feminism is yours.

M.R. Green Wow. You must be psychic. You totally predicted what I was going to say next before I said it. NOT! I had no intention of demanding that women have to work as hard as men immediately after giving birth. I still take an issue with Timothy 2:11-15 NT. I've already quoted it in my previous comment, so look there for reference and tell me that isn't sexist. I admit that there may be some biblical passages that aren't as sexist as others. That doesn't make the bible non-sexist as a whole. The same can be said of other "man-made," religions, as Ray Comfort put it - except that he thinks that Christianity isn't a man-made religion. That's a drastic assumption right there. As I was saying about other religions, they probably have a similar ratio of sexism to the occasional equal treatment. I can't prove it without reading every holy book from every religion. It's difficult enough reading the bible. "It's really hard to follow more than one theology." That's not necessarily true. The problem is that if one of those theologies is Fundamentalism, it excludes the others by definition. "We are the one true religion. Everyone else is going to burn in hell." I've seen Ray Comfort's other videos, and that's clearly what he believes.

That verse isn't sexist, either. It looks like you made up your mind about what you Wil follow. Certainly, you can respect others enough to choose whom they will?

M.R. Green Ha ha. Very funny. I said "Tell me that [verse] isn't sexist," and you interpreted it literally as an order. Very productive. Do you really think that 1 Timothy 2:11-15 has no sexism in it? If so, would you mind telling me HOW you came to that conclusion? And yes, I intend to allow other people to believe in any religion that allows me to believe what I want. FYI, Ray Comfort is not one of those people.

Women need to be interviewed on this show in relation to women's issues such as sexism! Three men giving their opinion on the topic does not create credibility on issues such as this. They will never know what it is like to suffer sexism so they should be calling on someone qualified to speak on the topic. Jesus was and is not sexist but it is blatant and part of the culture of "the church." Nothing will change until Jesus comes back, I'm very sad to say.

A wonderful testimony by that man in Texas about the woman who acquired the sewing machine (and her children being in the school) and she turned her life to Christ before she ended up on the streets selling herself' BUT.... God intervened at the exact right time! How faithful He is - ALWAYS on time! Praise His mighty name and heart of love for those of us who love Him, and those who know Him not, yet.

Hello, I appreciate people having this conversation about sexism and the Bible, and I do believe that Jesus also meant to uplift women. However, this episode only touches a bit on the beginning about sexism in the Bible, and then goes on about women in India. While the latter is also important, what is equally important is to address the topic in the way the Bible is used by sexists. It is evident in the way a number of churches continually propagate prescriptive readings of Biblical texts such as Prov 31. I can’t even number how many sermons I have heard about how women should be like the Prov 31 woman, while in reality, it is a text meant for husbands: it is more of an instruction for them to cherish their wives. There are a number of other examples. Secondly, while the presenters believe that Jesus meant to uplift women, why didn’t the show make it a priority for this episode so women themselves can be heard? There are too many men speaking for women in this episode. Where are the women? It is important to have men speaking with women, but I also believe that the show should not reproduce the problematic politics of representation and sexism is widespread in media. Women should be allowed to speak about issues that are imposed on them, and that is women can be uplifted.

As upsetting and angry the things that people do in this world, we must remember that our war is not against flesh & blood, so aught not to take satan's bait by having hate and anger towards people who hurt others. Our war is against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. My prayers are of "love" towards both, victims & the one's who victimise, And also my prayers are "against" the one who comes to kill, steal and destroy which leads the world to be the way it is.
