Death is a breath away and my evilness is going to ruin my eternal experience. I only know one real Christian in my life, although my whole family thinks theyre saved, i have him pray for me because i know God can hear him. Please pray for me if you really know God. We must plead to God to save my soul. Is that hiw it works? I dont know. Is my salvation actually solely in my hands? I DONT KNOW..

Yes my friend. Your salvation is in your hands. All you have to do is go to God, profess your sins, ask for forgives, and ask Jesus to come into your heart and love him with your whole heart. But that's the thing, you have to mean it! Doing that will not make you perfect, you will still be a sinful human as it were. But by inviting Jesus into your heart and recognizing him as your savior, your sins are forgiven. The first commandment is love. Love your God and love your neighbor. People have unfortunately stopped carrying about people these days smh. I will pray for you. And I hope you come to Christ my friend.

Continue seeking truth with an open mind. Maybe read through Proverbs to see wisdom. Check out Psalms. Humble yourself and realize how flawed we all are and seek His help. I'm not sure if I believe there is a moment where we are suddenly transformed, but rather that it is a journey. I only casually believed until a few years ago, having never read the Bible. Suddenly I had an interest to learn more. This year I finally read the Bible cover to cover. It's absolutely amazing. Another book I would highly recommend that helped me was "Is God A Moral Monster" by Copan...it's easy to get tripped up on Old Testament vs New Testament....most people already love New Testament in my experience, so that doesn't seem like a common obstacle.

Couple comments: So he makes a point to say the bible [that he prefers] is not one book but actually 66 different books, only to seemingly ignore it later when ascribing truth. He goes on to make a fundamental compositional error that because some books in the bible have some accurate historical references (never mentioning the areas where there are historical errors or problems to question that narrative), that we can trust the rest is equally true. By what reasons can we know that this book of "66" books by numerous authors can operate as a single unit, especially after you've just reminded us to think of it as individual units? Using names is a great way to provide contextual information for when and where an account was written but demonstrates nothing for the voracity of the actual account detailed. You may identify that I wrote a story in the early 90s, but it is another thing to use that to infer or validate, even if sincerely written, that it the details of the story are true or accurate, and not mistaken. I also disagree that it means the stories we have are from eye-witnesses. I believe the biblical accounts have kernels of truth, and some original accounts may have happened, but it is a large leap to connect the truth of the original event (whenever it happened and if it was told by an eye-witness) with the story passed down to what we hold now. Without an ACTUAL original account to compare we have no way of knowing what changes may or may not have occurred in between. The Torah is a great example of how layers of additions, redactions and compositions of related stories by numerous authors can happen (check out current views on the Documentary Hypothesis if you want to know more). And i'd agree that some pieces of manuscripts we have for the NT texts are very close to the originals compared to other historical documents, but that doesn't erase the decades or centuries that occur between, never mind that the earliest ones are mere fragments. I think less than 100 from the first 2 or 3 centuries. Just because something is copied well now, doesn't mean it's always been the case. Textual variants show that changes have been made. And you can feel comforted in thinking the core doctrines aren't affected, but the truth is, if an early change was made and carried on through copies, we won't know until we have the original or a variants to demonstrate it. Rebuilding history is a unfortunately a bit of a fool's game because it's crippled by everything we don't know and can't see. It's a best guess analysis of the past, until new data may be excavated to adjust our thinking. - just the thoughts from a reluctant apostate who sought to validate the bible as God's word, to know him better and correct his liberal ways, only to be disappointed by the reason and evidence to believe the bible as true, apart from a leap of blind faith.

There's only one way to know the Bible is true: . Romans 8:7 “The carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.” . John 3:6,7 “That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is Spirit.” “Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.” . Acts 2:38. “Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” . 1 John 2:27 “But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.”

He's still picking and choosing different parts of the bible that includes pieces of history. But no real historical, literal stories of history. If he's acknowledging the bible as a perfect book or as a historical document, he's already in the wrong. This is my first time watching his video after I've heard so much about him. Just saying someone/some place that actually exists in history doesn't make the bible historically reliable. Even with the NT, the translation from Greek to what we currently have, the use of semi-colon and breaks in the wording is deceiving. You can sense they have some classical literature influence. I don't think he's taking into account the way stories were told in the time period it's in. It resembles stories from Greco-Roman literature.

He refers to Luke as if he were the author of the Gospel of Luke. Ask yourself. Does the author claim to be Luke at any point in the text? When is the first actual evidence of a person referring by that name to that anonymous text? Before that happened, were there more people quoting that text? How many? That's quite a few, don't you think? What names did they use to refer to the author? Isn't that curious? In what was possibly the first Christian bible to be produced, that of Marcion of Sinope, whose complete list of books dates from around 140 as opposed to the 367 of the New Testament we know now, was a version of that gospel used? what title did it have? That gospel, as well as the rest of the gospels in the New Testament are totally anonymous texts and most biblical scholars will tell you, with very good arguments based on evidence rather than tradition, that they were not written by eyewitnesses of the life of Jesus.

"That gospel, as well as the rest of the gospels in the New Testament are totally anonymous texts and most biblical scholars will tell you, with very good arguments based on evidence rather than tradition, that they were not written by eyewitnesses of the life of Jesus." This is just NOT true. The biblical writers WERE INDEED eyewitnesses of the life of Jesus. You are on a dangerous path here. It's fine to ask questions, but some of the so-called "experts" to whom you're turning to for answers are questionable at best. _This is what we proclaim to you: what was from the beginning, _*_what we have heard, what we have seen with our eyes, what we have looked at and our hands have touched (concerning the word of life-and the life was revealed, and we have seen and testify and announce to you_*_ the eternal life that was with the Father and was revealed to us). _*_What we have seen and heard we announce to you too,_*_ so that you may have fellowship with us (and indeed our fellowship is with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ). Thus we are writing these things so that our joy may be complete."_ 1 John 1:1-4 (NET)

Most scholars agree that Marcion's gospel was a revised version of the Gospel of Luke. The idea that his gospel is the first Christian bible is absolutely not the prominent belief among scholars, this is a particular view that some current anti-christian scholars. The idea that most biblical scholars would tell you that the New Testament gospels are "totally anonymous" is also absurd, this is not the prominent view even among secular scholars. The titles given to these gospels are based on the first line of the manuscript which begin with "the gospel of Jesus according to Mark/Matthew/Luke/John" so the authorship is clearly stated in the very first line. Also, the textual criticism of the historicity of the canonical gospels (Matthew/Mark/Luke) is very strong. The prominent view among scholars is that the canonical Gospels were the primary texts with Mark's more than likely being the first written and distributed among a Jewish audience and then Matthew and Luke written after, borrowing some excerpts from Mark verbatim. The New Testament as a canon wasn't officially put together until 367 but that was only in response to Gnostic and other religious cults claiming divine authority and inserting their own books. In 325 the council of Nicaea was put together to make the already culturally understood Christian texts to an "official canon". Though there was no official canon before then, the canonical gospels, the writings of Paul and the book of Acts and Revelation were widely read and assumed as canon. The "official New Testament" was only put together out of necessity due to bad actors using the Christian religious growth to their own advantage. The history on this is quite clear and the early church fathers addressed it directly. Tertullian (3rd century) and Epiphanius (4th and 5th century) both address the Marcionite beliefs including his gospel and canonization (though they may not use that word, they address his "works" and beliefs). The gospel of Marcion was understood as being wrong (non-canonical) before a canon was established. This is not new, nor is it a discovery. It's yet another gnostic text rising up from history and being exploited by scholars and taken out of context by would-be scholars. There is nothing new under the sun.

@@brandalfthegrand The Old Testament (the Greek Septuagint) and the New Testament were officially canonized at the Council of Rome in 382 AD. The Council was orchestrated and led by Pope Damasus I. It also included 400+ Catholic bishops, along with a few priests and theologians, including St. Augustine and St. Jerome. In 367 AD, Saint Athanasius, the Bishop of Alexandria, wrote a Festal Letter, w/the 1st mention of the New Testament books that would match the 27 books recognized & canonized by the same Catholic Church, in 382AD. All were pronounced "divinely inspired" and suitable for the Liturgy of the Mass. That is still the case today. What benefit is it to anyone stating a false, or at best an invincibly ignorant history of the Bible? Your only "rule of faith" then becomes your "authentic" inconveniant truth.
