I think Snake was able to be disarmed and overcame so easily because he was already more hesitant to shoot the Boss. I think she knew this and used it to her advantage..

Also, the second time he notes that she's apparently in the line of fire-unlike the first encounter. You could say that Boss did this in the off chance Snake would pull the trigger, since it's her mission to be killed by him. Though, it probably is more likely she knew he couldn't shoot, since she needed to retrieve the Philosophers' Legacy still.

I think we can understand snakes hesitation to shoot his adoptive mom, even if she did break his arm and throw him off a bridge...

One of my favorite things about this, besides the technical attention to detail in MGS3, is just how grounded of a characterization it is. The Boss has to appear more capable than a squad of mutant supervillains that could easily be the big bad of another story. It establishes her as both competent and threatening by showing her mastery of something you would consider implausible or impractical. She doesn't need lightning or super speed, just unrivaled skill. It's masterful visual storytelling how Snake, by degrees, counters and utilizes more of the Boss's techniques as the story progresses. Not only is she badass, but she's a recurring yardstick to show Snake climbing the badass totem pole.

I have always found the stealth aspect in this game extremely pleasant; there is something meditative about lying in the high grass, and planning how to get past the guards without being seen. I like to attempt a "no death" playthrough on European Extreme, just to get the full stealth experience.

I've always loved the hardcore stealth experience of trying no-traces/ghost stealth runs like the old splinter cell missions where you cant kill or KO anyone while also having no alerts

something also of note, in order to even attempt this, you'd have to know at a glance what make and model of gun is being used and have near encyclopedic knowledge of how to perform a field strip for that (and pretty much every gun) to pull it off ontop of being physically able to attempt wrestling the gun away. The only realistic thing to do should you attempt it is to get the gun away by either disarming means or attacking vulnerable areas (I can think of one thats not being guarded during a struggle). When you have the gun away you have to make a judgement call if it's best to hold them up with their own gun (which could add a lot of legal complications to a self defense case plus your attacker might gamble on whether or not you have the fortitude to pull the trigger on them and wrestle it back) or release the magazine, eject the bullet and toss the gun out of reach to take their main threat away and make is possible for others to help (which seen in footage of Convenience store robberies stopped by the ones being held up) or use the opportunity to escape

I always thought this part was amazing and made everyone respect the shit out of the Boss, but I didn’t know enough about guns to even notice the locking pin being ejected. The fact there was this much attention to detail in a fucking PS2 game from 2004 is just a testament to how far ahead of the curve Kojima productions has always been.

Love the video. Just want to point out, with 1911's during disassembly, you don't need to remove the recoil spring before pulling the slide off. You do, how ever, need to put the recoil spring back AFTER putting the slide back onto the frame. So it only would matter during reassembly. (As someone who owns 1911's lol) Hope this clarifies :)

I've spoken to a police officer about this, and my cousin, they didn't recommend me doing this. It appears that they both had training in unarmed combat (CQC).

The problem is is that you generally need a tool to push the slide lock through to get it out and no ones finger is slim enough to do that w/o a tool

you don't necessarily, i have the 1:1 replica of the MGS3 1911A3 and if you press the slide lock strong enough, it's gonna protude enough to be disassembled. it won't fall out like that, but will cause a malfunction nonetheless

actually tis doable since you can get your fingernails underneath and pull. still no doable on a m19ll or mk22. but it will definitely cause a malfunction. when it does go off.

Of course Women can beat the crap of a 1.90 cm for 90 kg or more by just using CQC of course.
