Superb video Max. It’s great that we can have these discussions within this community. This is how we develop our styles of training and evolve as a community

Just found this, and it's been a year since I've been able to workout more strenuously than a walk around the neighborhood. The way I'm planning on hitting this is one a minute for 6 counts, one every 2 minutes for seals, for one full month of every other day workouts, while still walking and hiking occasionally. After that month, I'm going to spend a month just freestyling each workout without counting, and then at the beginning of month three, actually doing a goal workout where I count reps to gauge my level. Thanks for making a true beginner friendly program that can actually fit for folks in my position.

Great to hear you will soon be back! I think one of the difficulties with creating programs, is that "beginners" can still have a big range of fitness, movement range and of course, age. There almost has to be a few different programs for "beginners". So it's always tricky...

Good strategies provided here Max. Mixing up the way you attack a session truly makes a huge difference. The greatest advice of all though was the being consistent piece👍. Salute!

Thanks Max, your advice is truly appreciated. As a beginner, I do feel pressure, and a little despondent when I see the incredible work / numbers you and the other leaders in the community achieve. It’s easy when you’re aching or sore from training, and inherently lazy like me, to throw in the towel and wonder whether it’s better to take up another activity - so instead of doing the work I’m searching for the next thing. Running, cycling, jump rope etc. But I keep coming back to burpees. Hearing this week how they’ve helped David Whitten and why he does them has reignited my enthusiasm to try again and remain consistent. What an excellent community!

Great talk Max, I fall somewhere between all three methods, and probably a few more not discussed here. My own over riding principle is that I'm in no great hurry, the numbers will come when both my mind and body are ready to reflect that level of fitness and until then, my work is right now, this session, and there are infinite ways for me to approach it. I love having a 20:00 stretch in front of me as well as the freedom to work within it's structure. Plus, I have sign post along the way to guide my fitness level. I do a bit more than the 20 mins session alone, mainly because I'm not a Busy Dad, or really busy at all outside of teaching meditation students and writing. So I have plenty of time to recover from more involved sessions. But that 20 mins is the cornerstone and I absolutely love to visit it. Thanks again Max for all you give here.
