You forgot to mention an incredible important thing! The T6 Rebel or 1300D is the best "webcam" for streaming there is. Why? Because it costs the same as an actual webcam but gets 1000x better image and can be used as a webcam directly through the Canon software. It has direct output of video through usb and for 50 bucks you can get the battery replacement dongle which connects it straigth to the wall. Added to all this you can swap lenses, its light and small etc. I use it for that mainly.

Wow. Wish I had thought of this before buying a Logitech C922... don't get me wrong, it's a decent 1080p camera, assuming decent lighting, but well, it's not a full-on DSLR with precise control over the image parameters... I should have saved the 70 GBP and instead invested in this battery to wall plug adaptor you mentioned, and maybe invested in a light attachment for it... (I'm a total amateur, can you even attach a perpetual light to the light mount on a DSLR camera like this for video? or would it have to be a separate peripheral? the extent of my knowledge is that with old school flash attachments, they could only turn on for a fraction of a second at a time, right at the moment that the shutter opens, if you manually turned it on for any longer than a second or two the light would overheat and burn out immediately in a puff of smoke. How do I know...? ehh... first hand experience... I would hope/assume that DSLR flash peripherals have come along way in the last 30-40 years but then again I am a total amateur so I haven't the faintest idea)

1300D owner of 6 years and counting here! I bought the 1300D as a beginner camera to learn photography with, and...well, never stopped using it. I love the thing. The colors are just right for me, dynamic range - while not the widest you'll find - is plenty flexible in RAW, it's light, it's ergonomic as all heck, and the level of detail in well-exposed shots is still leagues better than any smartphone I've ever owned. When a shot doesn't turn out the way I would've liked, 95% of the time I was the one at fault, not the camera. Although, I should probably mention one caveat that might make things challenging for second-hand buyers: the 1300d/T6 does not, I repeat, does *NOT* have a shutter counter. There is absolutely no way to know how many times it's gone off, metadata or otherwise. Mine's still ticking like a clock, but your shutterage may vary. If you find one for real cheap, I'd say it's a worthwhile gamble though; there's a good chance you'll be done with the camera before it's done with you. Don't know how I stumbled upon a video about my exact camera by pure happenstance, but I'm glad I clicked! Any time I've considered upgrading to a fancier camera, I always stop and ask myself: "Will this improve my photography, or am I just looking for an excuse to buy something?" Fancier gear doesn't make a great photographer any more than a fine brush makes a skilled painter. I'll be sure to add an addendum to this comment if the camera dies; for now, it remains one of my proudest investments

Very thoughtful and balanced video on this camera. I’ve had a T6 for a while but haven’t used it as much as I should. Thanks for restoring a bit of my confidence in this camera as I’ve always thought that you get a lot out of it if you know how.

Thanks for making this! I just won an eBay auction for this + 3 lenses (18-55 lens, BRAND NEW EF 75-300mm lens plus a 13E PRO macro lens and charger) for $233 shipped. So for me, this video will be a “what can I do with it” vs “should I buy it”

So I have mixed feelings about the 1300D. I bought this camera for a photography class I had while attending art school because it came with two lenses out of the box for around 500 bucks which on a student budget it was pretty hard to beat. It was there at the beginning and played a big role in starting my love of photography, however i quickly outgrew the capabilities of the camera and it left me wanting more. Yes it is an entry level camera and I think in my use case it is best suited, but it just doesn’t hold a candle to modern options on the market today. That said if you still own one of these cameras yes you can take good photos with it, any tool is limited by the capabilities of the user, but I would argue if you are seriously passionate about photography this isn’t a great choice in 2023. On the other hand they sell used for close to nothing and you could get some decent glass with the savings so I guess I don’t know. Maybe the answer is the best camera is the one you have with you.
@christianskyes Жыл бұрын
They do sell for very little now, so for a beginner, I'd still say it's a great option. This is especially if you're not sure if photography is for you. If someone gets it, and they realise that they're not really going out and taking photos, hey, at least they didn't spend thousands of dollars in order to learn that :)

I’ve had the camera for years, I know nothing about cameras and it’s just sitting here but I would like to start putting it to use. I want to do still photos and real estate photography. Is it still worth learning about the features and trying to use it in 2023?

As a T6 (1300D) user, I would say this camera is not up to entry level average. 1. The image quality of T6 is very poor. At ISO1600, the noise is unbearable. Especially if you want to print out the photos, but it doesn't matter if you're just looking at them on your phone. 2. There are only 9 focus points, and the focusing speed is very slow. Manual focusing is often required. If you have $500, buy a second-hand Sony aps-c.

i would not invest in a dead system. Lenses make the difference but why buy lenses for a dead mount? they might be cheaper but if you ever want to upgrade your camera you will be stuck in the past. Having shot 600d, 650d and 700d i would say that (unless for video maybe) i would rather get a D90 or a K-5 coz ISO 100 is not always an option and the 18mp sensor falls appart at iso400 already. Maybe get a used 5Dii, good cameras remain good cameras but crap will be crap. hell i would rather reactivate my 350D then using this thing, its offers even more limitations but at least i get a gread CCD sensor. You can take good pictures with this thing but so can you with any other camera, however the same picture will look 100x better on any other mentioned ones. tl;dr if you are in for a stills camera, look somewhere else!
