I live in Thailand and the R5 used to overheat after 20 min while shooting 4k 60fps IPB. Indoor with the aircon turned on maybe it could last a bit longer but outdoor no way it would go further!

Definitely good upgrades with dual card recording and limitless record time, but here are my two deal breaker questions. 1) Can it be powered by USB-C power bank with a battery in it? I want long duration battery life without having to swap batteries in extremely long shoots (i.e dance shows). 2) Can I see the flip out screen when using HDMI-out? Canon has been crippling their cameras in that manner since the 60D, 70D, 80D, etc. Why can’t we just have the back screen on while running HDMI-out to an external monitor/recorder?

You get full AF performance through the Canon RF to EF adapter. So you will be limited by the lens, not the camera. The RF lenses do perform slightly better than EF, but EF still works very well indeed

I've been on the R system since 2019 with the EOS R, and I still don't own any RF glass. All my adapted EF glass works perfectly with the Canon adapter. With their inside knowledge of the mounts, it's essentially extension tube. AF and IQ are superb and EF lenses perform better than they do on the SLRs they were designed for due to the on-sensor focusing. RF glass has some AF improvements, but the EF performs so well I've not felt any need to invest in RF glass yet. It's a good thing too, because the RF lineup is either absurdly high-end or fairly consumer level. There's nothing like the EF Sigma 35 1.4 Art, for example, or a mid-range 50 1.4.

@davidmurray5926
@davidmurray5926 2 жыл бұрын
Can I ask a genuine question of you please? You say ergonomically the R6 is a ‘dream to use’. Why? The side hinged flip out screen is a disaster for me, it’s slow, obtrusive and conspicuous, surely it’s there solely for people who want to film or photograph themselves (in over 500 weddings shot I’ve never had the need to do either). Don’t you think Canon should give us a choice instead of forcing this damn screen on us? Even other videographers I speak to prefer the tilt screen like on the BMP4k pro or the hybrid like on the GH6 and Sony A7RV. I’d love your thoughts, because when trying to justify it people struggle and usually say it’s for self filming and if you want to shoot high up or low down, both of which you can do with a flexible tilt screen. Thanks.
@FloatingOnAZephyr
@FloatingOnAZephyr Жыл бұрын
No snark intended, but I've never heard a single person express a preference for tilt over flip-out, and Sony users seemed to be desperate for Sony to ditch their tilt screens for years. If you don't want it, just turn it round and use it like the 5D. I can see why you might not like it, but it's hardly a disaster. I don't think it's practical for Canon to offer different screens as an custom option at this level.

@FloatingOnAZephyr Жыл бұрын
Having shot extensively with both the 5Div and R6i, I can tell you the video quality is hugely improved due to the 10-bit with 4K (those two things combined are more important than either separately IMO. 8-bit 4K wasn't worth it, but with 10-bit it really comes into its own). As for stills, it's harder to say as the 5Div was already so good, but the R6i is at least as good. The lower resolution hasn't been an issue, and the images have a huge amount of detail. The R6ii has a little more resolution than the R6i, so I imagine it's even less of an issue. The on-sensor focus and eye-detection also means you're more likely to get a truly tack sharp image, which I think compensates for the loss of a few megapixels in practice. Coming from an DSLR, you will be shocked how good continuous AF is on mirrorless pro bodies. Hope that helps.
