First learned Castle of #Burgundy on board game arena a few months ago and have played a few times more. Really enjoy it and lucky enough to have played the fancy version at a friends house. #Burgundy My thoughts as the owner of an all-in pledge (I got the Splendid pledge and then tracked down acrylic tiles and the terrain pack). I love this game, absolutely never leaving my collection Base game: 1000% back (obviously) Acrylic hexes: 1000% back. There is a plastic separator that goes on your player board to separate out the different hexagonal areas (functions essentially as a dual-layer board). The acrylic hexes are tactilely much more satisfying to hold & draw out of a bag (think of Spendor with cardboard instead of the nice chonky chips) and when placing them on the board sit proud of the plastic separator which makes moving them around to trial it in different places easier. Playmat: Not critical, but it sure is nice. Also, I find it much easier to get everything into the box with zero lid lift when there is no main board. Highly recommend but can play without Acrylic tiles: They are nice. They are shiny. They add completeness (I knew it would bug the s*** out of me to have a 95% deluxified game but not the whole thing, call me shallow). And are 100% unnecessary. I am glad I have them, I would get them again, but it's a great game without them Terrain pack: Minis are gorgeous (it's AW, of course the minis are nice) and I'm really glad I have it. It is also completely unnecessary. Even more so than the acrylic tiles. When I'm teaching people, I have them use just the hexes without replacing them with minis because the village minis all have the same shading so without painting, the only way to know if you've got 2 or more of the same building in an area is to know the shape of the roofs. And the box definitely adds to storage. I love the terrain pack, I love watching my player board "come to life", and I always play with it. And I think unless it's important to you, you should 1000% save your money. I would get the All-In pledge again happily, but I definitely recommend the Splendid pledge as the best overall.

I pledged for the base Special Edition in the first campaign. I’m back in this campaign for the acrylic hexes and tokens, as well as the playmat. It truly is an excellent deluxification of an amazing game. I personally might go so far as to say to someone building their game collection that this is a must have, and that the special edition is the must have version. I have never said that about any other game or pushed anyone to buy a game they were on the fence about trying, but think this is the exception. The base special edition pledge is about half the price you would see at a LFGS or retail online. The upgrades are very scarce and very, very expensive if you wanted them after the campaign. That is likely to be less so now due to the second printing campaign, but I think this is such a classic game that it will always be desired in the second hand market. If someone were to try the game for the first with the special edition and not like it, they would almost certainly have no trouble reselling it for as much or likely more than they paid. Again, this is the only time I have ever felt so confident in recommending someone new start with the special edition. Thanks for the great video! I’m Ron #burgundy ?

CoB has been on my list of potential future purchase for a while now. Given I have joined the hobby ''fairly recently'', I am intrigued by classics like CoB and El Grande, but haven't jumped in yet. I hate to admit that overproduction does catch my eyes a lot more, but given the price tag I am hesitant to buy it without knowing if my group will like it. @@Copterman that depends on your attitude towards storing playmats outside of the box. It isn't possible to store it in the box. I also got rid of the cardboard board because I didn't want any lid lift and I like the playmat. So hopefully that helps.

Was really interested in #burgundy during the original campaign but was confused about all the addons and fitting in the box so didn't back. Still wish the tiles would fit directly in the box storage system. Have since seen how good the production is even with the flaws so it's much more tempting. #burgundy This is my all-time favorite game as it was my gateway into the hobby. I picked up an original version on clearance at ToyTown on Eagle Rd for $5 years ago. Since then, my game collection has grown by hundreds. I backed the basic kickstarter but didnt add the terrain expansion. I did back terrain pack this time around. Will I play with all the upgraded pieces every time? Most likely no, but I felt inclined to own the entire set simply bc of the place this game holds in my heart. That first printing was the easiest back of my life. Literally avoided playing it just because it was ugly as sin until this AR version. It’s not often you get a layup of this magnitude on crowdfunding. A proven product, filling a vacuum in desperate need, and reasonably priced for what you get. If you don’t own this and enjoy euros, I cannot recommend it enough.

Wish #Burgundy would fit in a kallax. The box is too heavy, unfortunately. Got the chance to play it at a con, and man was I excited and let down at the same time. This is a "get it if it's one of your favorite games" sort of thing. It was fun, but playing with terrain drags out a game that should take 45-60 mins to close to 2 hours. The experience with the terrain ruined the game for me. Glad I played before this campaign otherwise I'd definitely be into it. I love playing this on BGA and the old version also does just fine for us!

How come you don't mention some of the SUPER important SHORTCOMINGS of the special edition? Such as: The Black Bag TAINTS the other bags The PLASTIC Duchies slot (transparent) DOESN'T fit the duchies properly and is misaligned... quite a frustrating problem here The ACRYLIC TILES DO NOT have the building's "power" listed on the back like the cardboard tiles do.... Those are SUPER important and valid criticism for someone looking to spend 200$+ on a board game

1. I haven't noticed any black tainting. 2. It isn't a big issue. 3. The player guide has everything listed on it, there is zero need for tiles to have powers listed on the back. The last thing I want are people flipping tiles over every 2 seconds to read what something does. Use your player guide.
