So this time last year i had zero dollars and lived in my car in Phoenix AZ at the peak of summer. Was tired of working at the Amazon warehouse and I literally opted to be homeless living in my car instead of renewing my lease with my roommate. So how could i get out of this i asked myself for a month. Decided to study for my CCNA while living in my car. Went to the library everyday and if they were closed I just parked outside of Lowes and used their internet to study. After 2 1/2 months of doing this I took my ccna and passed! The next week I got hired to work in the NOC for a local ISP making more than i ever have with way better working conditions. The CCNA changed my life and I recommend it.

interesting, inspiring, maybe not so much for Europeans, as I would hardly imagine anyone who can pass ccna to live in car. it's almost unbelievable that a person, who is possible to pass ccna, opted to live in the car, on the other hand, what is the society telling you that a person capable to pass ccna is with such a living condition that needs to live in car ?

Don't remember them saying anything about a new overall version specifically, like the 200-301, but they did mention a few months back about doing something like rolling revisions going forward. Every fiscal year they may choose to update/change up to 20-25% of the focused exam. If they choose to do that it wouldn't go form 200-301 to something like 201-301 for example, they'd doing something like 200-301v2 or something to that affect.

I'm currently learning and training for CCNA this year in 2023! I have CompTIA A+ and Network+. In my experience, 8/10 IT jobs don't require any of these because they look for 2 or more years of experience to get into most IT jobs. CompTIA A+ and Network+ are great for those entering the IT field but not really required for most jobs out here in California. CCNA is way better and CCNP, as well!! Security+ is a must have for any government job. Also, CompTIA Certs are expensive and most companies overlook them, if you don't have at least 2 or more years of experience in IT based on my 8 years in the IT Field. CCNA, Security+ and Pen Tester+ are way more valuable and useful.

everyone, this is not a question that is has any validity as it is used in this context. I used the CCNA and CCNP and CCIE for different reasons. but the common reasons was to learn a skillset and start and increased my knowledge. I could care less the so called value. the real value is what and why i used the certs for. It allowed me to excel my career which was my goal, to become a Network Engineer which was my goal and become Senior which was my goal. Not once did i asked myself if the certs were value. because knowledge and goal setting was the real value and the CCIP along with the rest of them allowed me to master my field more than i can imagine. chase the money and you get none. Build your skillset and the byproduct of the money will come. My famous response as of today still is "Kiel, i had no idea a router or a switch could do that"

I just read the top comment and am completely the opposite. I have worked in tech ever since I could. I started at Best Buy and worked my way up in little bits. I was 19 when I got to geeksquad at Best Buy and then 20 when I was able to work at an amazon datacenter. Then 22 when I got to work at a computer manufacturing place for government bodies. And then I thought instead of just computer hardware fixing I want to get more specialized so I studied and got my CCNA within a month. Studied like 5 hours a day every single day. I then immediately applied to every single NOC MSP network admin, network engineer, help desk, etc. position I could find and nothing. It’s now been 3 months of applying to over 120 places and still nothing. It’s like the CCNA did absolutely nothing
@i_am_tyler5241 Жыл бұрын
I think its situational, CCNA doesn't necessarily get you a job but myself being a jr. network engineer without CCNA at the moment and you having CCNA. If we both had an interview for the my current position, I would still likely get the job because before this, I was a network monitor and help desk before that. This is all on the same contract as well. But I will say, I guarantee you are more knowledgeable and CCNA is literally my entire job. So Im sure something is bound to come up, may just have to start super entry level as well.
@MyOpinionNow20249 ай бұрын
Your right, you have to go to the higher level certifications and complete them. You should get a security certification, get a security clearance, and you should get some aws certifications. Its not as hard as it sounds, you will see doors open up. This is a very competitive field and once you get a job don't get comfortable try and get a new certification every year. Do a 5 year plan because AI is going to be taking over a lot more jobs, so try and consider what else you like down the road, maybe have some robotics' training.

If you can skip the help desk or lower level IT jobs, great. Just keep in mind that if you don't have underlying knowledge and experience with IT, it can be incredibly difficult to truly understand what you're doing in networking jobs. As a generalization, a lot of computer networking jobs are not entry-level IT and assume you already have working knowledge and experience in IT. Some jobs may not strictly be about computer networking and you may also deal with other aspects of IT like configuring servers or configuring virtual network environments.
