Hey just a note on maths. The conversion rate is impacted significantly on the size of the tournament. This is a theoretical example to help illustrate. Say there is a tournament of exclusively Tymna/Thrasios players. If the tournament size is 16, the conversion rate would be 100%. If the tournament size is 64, the conversion rate would be 25%. If the tournament size was 320, the conversion rate would be 5%. The actual math is very complicated, but hopefully this simplistic example illustrates the impact tournament size can have.

It is interesting. I think as you stated the lack of a dominating performance from any one deck really means things are still wide open in my opinion. Maybe people will adjust their decks after this tournament as people still shake up their lists post bands and we will start to see some patterns but it is difficult to say. I do think we will see an influx of T n T but will it find the success levels that T and K found at its peak im not so sure. Kinnan is Kinnan but doesn’t appear to have greatly climbed above the rest of the field, you can certainly win with it, but people respect it and know how to play against it.

Do you have data on 'average turns to win'? I'd be interested to see how it compares pre and post-ban. If there are less turn 1, 2 and 3 wins then I'd say the bans worked to make the format more competitive.

I don't have data on that, but best I could tell at the event games were leaning towards the timer with a decent amount of games going to time.

Is this gonna be the event that wakes people up to the fact that conversion rate is a bad metric? It’s all noise no signal. The larger the event is the lower the conversion rate. The smaller the event a deck is played in the higher it conversion rate is likely to be. Too much noise. Why not just look at win %? It’s not perfect but it’s so much better. Not sure why that’s not obvious.🤷‍♂️
