Is the Chinese Shar-Pei dog breed in danger again?
Over 50 years ago there were only a few Shar-Pei dogs left in China.
At the time The Chinese Communists came to power one of their first moves was to impose such a heavy tax on dogs that only the extremly wealthy could afford the luxury of canine companionship. A further edict declared dogs a "decadent bourgeois luxury" and banned dog breeding.
Today it seems that that he Shar-Pei dog was again in danger! Extreme animal protection activists in Germany and other European countries are calling for the end of the Shar-Pei breed. Their accusation: The Shar-Pei breed is a torture breed in general!

They are currently trying to bring about a change in the animal protection law in Germany, which leaves a lot of room for interpretation and could therefore endanger many dog ​​breeds.
