I got to say this video you have done is one of the best teaching videos I've ever watched. Instead of reviewing the chosen you have just taught me so much and open my eyes up to things that I never truly considered before. Feel I have extremely strong faith and a good knowledge of the Bible but the way you explained the scene with Jesus and John was incredible. I've often wondered about how the apostles were able to do such wonderful works and healings but I myself can't heal things that I deal with or other believers can't as well. I may not be wording what I mean correctly but hopefully it's understood. I knew what you were saying before you said it but the way you explained it was just so refreshing and eye-opening. The apostles didn't do what they did to glorify themselves but to show signs and glory to God. As he said he will heal us one day. That scene with John brought me to tears. The other thing that I loved about your video was you explaining Jesus as man and how he lived life living the human experience but doing so sinless, working hand-in-hand with the father through his spirit. God bless and thanks for the great work

I interpret “I Am the Law of Moses” as Jesus saying He is the upholder of the law of Moses. I get the same vibe from that line as John 5:45-47 ““But do not think I will accuse you before the Father. Your accuser is Moses, on whom your hopes are set. If you believed Moses, you would believe me, for he wrote about me. But since you do not believe what he wrote, how are you going to believe what I say?”” ‭‭John‬ ‭5‬:‭45‬-‭47‬ ‭NIV‬‬ P.S. would you ever consider doing Risen (2017)? I really like that film for it’s portrayal of a skeptical non believer finding Faith and meaning in Jesus. It has a lot of little details that Believers can enjoy by remembering them from the Bible. Edit: I didn’t watch the video before making this comment but you and I had a very similar interpretation of the line. Something you said that I think is interesting is how by being the fulfillment of the Law, Jesus essentially embodies the law Moses wrote about because He kept it. Of course He wasn’t literally the Law, but rather He represented and embodied it in how He lived and by being who He was, the Only Begotten Son of God. I disagree with Mormonism, as several things in the Book of Mormon go against the Bible and Paul warned against future teachings that would do just that. But I still appreciate how Mormons try to uphold God’s will and law. I’m glad that in this video you made sure not to throw Mormon people as individuals under the bus.

You should make full "Official ultimate ministry of Jesus Timeline" video since this has come up as a point you've been particular about each season. Plus it's interesting and I have trouble keeping the order straight when there's 4 gospels and they don't all include the same details.

A bit of a controversial opinion of mine (and it was a point brought up by some of the people who read the harmonization of the Gospels that I put together), but I'm of the opinion that all three Gospels (Matthew, Mark, and Luke) recorded the same rejection at Nazareth, rather than there being two different rejections, and that it took place where Mark places it rather than where Luke places it. Luke's account of the rejection has Jesus mentioning doing signs in Capernaum, which if we put the timeline together, does not work if the rejection occurred chronologically at the point where Luke decided to record it. We know this because John specifically numbers Jesus' first two miracles. The water changed into wine is explicitly "the first miracle," and the healing of the nobleman's son is explicitly "the second miracle." The healing of the nobleman's son took place in Cana, so Jesus would already have passed through Nazareth on his way there (and this takes place during the time that he's forsaken Nazareth and is heading to Capernaum to make his dwelling there). A "two rejections" hypothesis (or, for that matter, a "one rejection" hypothesis that uses Luke for the chronology) would have us believe that Jesus traveled to Cana, did a miracle, then turned around and went back to Nazareth where he was rejected, then turned around again and went to Capernaum. Possible? Sure. I won't say it definitely didn't happen. After all, there are other gaps in the narratives, and John does tell us that Jesus did many other things that weren't written down. But, considering that the journey in question was in order to make his dwelling in Capernaum, it seems very unlikely. So my hypothesis is that there was only one rejection, and that it happened at the point in the timeline where Mark records it. Luke's insertion of it is topical rather than chronological. (On a side note, some translations, including the KJV, have a comma at the end of Luke's rejection narrative connecting it to the following recorded event. I believe that this is a mistake, and that a full stop period should be placed there instead. I.E. Instead of reading "he went his way, and came down to Capernaum," it should read "he went his way. [paragraph break] He came down to Capernaum..." This is similar IMO to how some translations unfortunately place the word "then" into both Matthew and Luke's desert temptation narratives even though only one order of events can be the chronological one.) So, in my opinion, even though The Chosen timeline is still wrong, the actual order of events should have the rejection take place after the healing of Jairus daughter rather than as the first event on this timeline.
@TheBibleExplained
@TheBibleExplained Жыл бұрын
I agree with you. I definitely feel that there was only one rejection and I agree that Mark seems to make his gospel account more chronological than the others. Luke especially likes to jump around by topic rather than by timeline.

If what is in contention is a timing issue, does that take away from the ministry Jesus gave. Remember that these deeds were written many years after His ascension. Your critique of the shows depiction is harshly pharisaic. The ability to pick apart something is something amazingly easy to do., To build something is much harder. Your single critique is more skewed as opposed to the cadre of biblical scholars that put this show together in as biblical manner as possible. I feel the show is amazingly accurate and is true to JESUS ministry.

It's not intended as a diss on the show. It's just intended as a comparison. As for the events being written down years after the ascension, that doesn't make the order of events in the Gospels wrong. The writers had assistance from the Holy Spirit so that they wouldn't make any mistakes. While many of them used topical order when writing, there are times when they record using the words "then," "after these things," "at that time," etc. When the Holy Spirit inspired these timeline indicators to be written, you'd better believe they're true.

Chronology? I stopped watching the series after Jesus' conversation with James, when he explained him why he has to stay sick. This is huge lie, against scripture, and against God's character. Please show me where in the Bible Jesus refuse to heal anybody. Show me where Jesus "blessed" someone with sickness. When did the apostles refuse to heal anyone?

I do not understand much for I still have to finish the bible and I also don't speak for the Lord,but I do think that this scene is very biblical accurate to our God. One reason for me would be the Story of Job,from what I heard God allowed Job to suffer by the hand of the enemy,to proof the faith of Job to the enemy,many would ask why God would allow something like that? Ask yourself the question would you praise or love God even when he doesn't bless you with anything? Job literally was ripped of everything,yet he still praised and believed in the Lord while his friends and family were telling him to curse and to abandon God and to just die and even though they were telling him to curse God,he never did anything like that and in the end,because he believed God healed him completely and restored everything he lost and even doubled his possessions. The Point of this Story is to stay faithful to the Lord no matter the hard things you have to face in the world,remember that the way to God (and to follow him) is a hard and narrow path. This Story and the scene with little James is so important,because it inspires what true faith to the Lord our God looks like and to stay faithful,even during the pain and not only that it also may inspire other people to believe. Love God not because he can give you many riches,Love him because he first loved you and he is your dearest friend and your heavenly father and protector and only wants the best for you. Job 1:21: "The Lord gave and the Lord hath taken away,blessed be the name of the Lord."

I didn't watch all of this video, so not sure yet on everything he said. But I found this show to be pretty disturbing in some areas, but what can one expect when a movie is put together by Catholics and Mormons. This show depicts John as being smarter than Jesus in one scene. As if he's giving Jesus advise and Jesus is acting as if he's learned something new. None of which is in the bible. Also, Jesus would never tell someone they don't need to kneel or worship Him. And Jesus would never need to practice and rehearse what he's going to say in a sermon! That part was horrible!! All reasons why I stopped watching. You can say that Jesus was human and he only new what the father chose to tell him, but this is beyond that. This is different than a baseball game. When it came to preaching, I don't think he lost sleep from nervously practicing. When it came to what's right and wrong, morals, people, sin, preaching, and all the things he came to earth to do and teach, etc... I think he was above John and everyone else. It portrays the disciples wrong as well. Making Matthew out to be a retard, which he wasn't, and John is literally called creepy. John was portrayed the opposite of this in the bible; Jesus said he was the holiest, greatest man to be born to woman. And this show is calling him creepy. Just think about how God must feel about that. I often heard them call Mary, "Mother Mary" as well. As if Mary is to be worshiped. It's just simply hard to watch when you know the man playing Jesus is catholic. I also don't want this guys face in my head when I'm praying. But I stopped watching when they had Jesus acting exhausted after healing people. As though he could barely walk stumbling off to bed. This was the most disturbing. It's not in the bible. Jesus healed through the Holy Spirit, and the Holy spirit doesn't get tired. This was the last straw for me. There was not enough about repentance, there was not enough on the Gospel, and it portrayed Jesus as a softy, and a dummy. In other words, it's bringing people to the wrong Jesus, and for the wrong reasons. If one needs to change, take away, or add to His words, then they have no faith that His real words are good enough. And now (by no surprise) we find out they have a bunch of LGBTQ flamers working on the set. There are good things about this show, I can see how people would like it. It was very moving in many areas, and I really wanted to like it. But the negatives made it impossible for me to continue watching. It felt wrong.

"This show depicts John as smarter than Jesus in one scene." If you are referring to John the Baptist wanting to denounce Herod's behavior, that was already covered in the season 2 Bible and show comparison, and I actually personally didn't view it that way. I viewed it instead as Jesus saying to John "Are you sure you're ready for the consequences?" He wasn't telling him it wasn't right. "And Jesus would never have to practice and rehearse what he's going to say in a sermon!" Jesus was not omniscient during his time on Earth. Yes, he knew what was right and wrong better than anybody else, but that doesn't mean he wouldn't struggle with grammar, style, presentation, the most intriguing ways to put elements of speech in order, etc. With your logic you might as well say that he knew how to talk when he was a baby. That's the logical conclusion of that logic. Even on topics I know absolutely everything about with confidence, it's not as simple as just doing a presentation on the fly. I would need to figure out what would best engage my audience. "Making Matthew out to be a r-t-rd, which he wasn't..." First of all, as someone with autism myself, I find that word offensive. Secondly, we don't actually know all that much about Matthew aside from the fact that he was as a former tax collector and was also known as Levi. You can say we don't know for sure if he was autistic, but you can't definitively say "he wasn't." Arguments from silence are almost always flawed. "John is literally called creepy." I don't see this as a contradiction to Scripture. You can be a great person and also look terrifying. Those aren't mutually exclusive things. "But I stopped watching when they had Jesus acting exhausted after healing people. Jesus healed through the Holy Spirit, and the Holy Spirit doesn't get tired." This is a misunderstanding of the Trinity, and leans very much towards a heresy called modalism. I suggest that you study more on the Biblical concept of the Trinity.

@@curtthegamer934 I think Jesus had no problems preaching. If anyone has the Holy Spirit helping them to preach, it would be Jesus! And since the bible show's zero evidence of Jesus having any problems with this, then it shouldn't added. It's insulting, and for no reason at all, with no facts to back it up. Talking as a baby would have no reasoning. Obviously, the Holy Spirit would have no reason for wanting to help Him talk as a baby. But preaching is another story. God sent him to this earth to preach. It was the most important thing He did. His words came straight from God! The Holy Spirit spoke through Him. Yet you think he had problems with this? You think the Holy Spirit was slacking off? It makes no sense. When it comes to preaching He was not left high and dry. And Jesus made zero mistakes while on earth. So, there was no reason for him to be worrying about how to put words together. I can't believe anyone would want to defend such a thing, especially when it's not even in the bible. Did he have problems with other things that the Holy Spirit helped Him with? No, He did not. Yes, we don't know that much about Matthew. That doesn't mean it's ok to make up insulting things about him, on the slight tiny chance that it might be true. lol.... No, that is still lying! Why add such an insulting character to him, when there is no proof of it? People should want truth, not made up characters. And if your going to insist on making something up, then why not at least make up something respectful and complementary? Does the bible describe John as looking scary or creepy? No. So why add such a thing? Why change the bible? Is it because the bible is too boring the way it is? They are too worried about their revenue that they can't trust that the bible is good enough the way it is? How is the trinity a misunderstanding? Do you know some deep hidden verse in the bible that tells us the Holy Spirit has to suck power from the human body? Does the bible ever show Jesus exhausted after healing people? No, so again, why insult the Holy Spirit?

@@cannotbeshaken7889 "I think Jesus had no problems teaching." Key word here is "think." In another words, it is your interpretation, and you are upset because the writers of the show went with a different interpretation. Different interpretations are not differences from Scripture. Everybody has them. "Yes, we don't know much about Matthew. That doesn't mean we should make up insulting things about him." Insulting? Autism is insulting? I take a lot of offense to that. Plus, on the point that adding anything to the story is wrong, I will point out to you that every Bible adaptation adds to the story. Artistic license is unavoidable. Even drawing a picture of a person from the Bible is artistic license because we don't know what they looked like, which would rule out children's Bibles with pictures in them (and I will disagree with any possible argument that children's Bibles are wrong as well, simply because of the fact that such a a thing back in the day helped me understand that "red c" actually meant "blue water." Yes, yes, I was still a little off, but, as you can see from the way I spelled "Red Sea" earlier, my initial guess without a picture would have been so off the mark that I wouldn't have understood the story at all.) "Do you know some hidden verse in the Bible that tells us the Holy Spirit needs to suck power from the human body?" I think you misunderstood even the show itself on this point. The show was not trying to imply that the injuries and diseases and conditions healed by Jesus were transferred to him. If such a thing were true, he'd have been blind, deaf, lame, crippled, diseased, and all that other stuff. He clearly wasn't. This was simply fatigue, which every human can get. Jesus likely talked with many of these people, which would have eventually put strain on his voice. Likely he walked around at various points in the day, which would have put strain on his legs. Being awake for too long would have put strain on him. That's all the show was trying to portray. As for the concept of the Trinity, although all three are fully God, they are not parts of God or forms of God. Each of them is fully God. In addition to this, there are not three Gods, there is only one God. This may seem like contradictory information, but that's because we are only looking at Scripture through Earthly logic, which God himself invented and can defy.
