People slating the Ami forget that it is really an alternative to something like a small scooter, with room for two and a roof, for nipping to the shops and keeping you dry as you go. It does exactly what it is designed to, and does it well - for me, the LHD issue is no issue at all as I've driven a left-hand-drive car in the past. (A misguided purchase of a knackered old Trabant followed by a hair-raising eighty mile drive home in the thing is an adventure I'll never forget...!) Great little review of the Ami, and I could really see myself in one of those.

Great video. I bought a Smart Fortwo EQ at the end of last year which is a great commuter car but may have considered one of these had I discovered them earlier as I only drive 4-5 miles a day for work and less than £10k would of been a lot cheaper than more than £20k.

I think it's perfectly ok to say that the Ami is a car. I would even argue that just because it's legally categorized as a quadricycle, isn't excluding it being a car. While the L6e-B is categorized as a "quadricycle". The M1 category, is just described as "passenger vehicles with no more than eight seats (in addition to the driver's)." I appreciate that M1 category is commonly referred to as cars, but I have not found any definition excluding all other categories, and vehicles like Citroën Ami. According to Britannica Dictionary: "Car 1 : a vehicle that has four wheels and an engine and that is used for carrying passengers on roads." This is backed up by several other dictionaries. Yes it's not an M1 category car, but it is an L6e-B category car.

Sweet car (quadricycle!). I'd love one but I don't have a town to drive around. Chard is tiny and I always walk into town. I only drive when I go at least to the next town and that always involves a 60mph road. I'd like to get one and tune it up to do 60! BTW, you think that's noisy, you should take Foxanne for a spin! (she does do 60 though).

Ami is fine litle car. But i dont like the fact that the batteries are not mobil packs. Charging would be much easier . I checked the Spanish brand Silence and will wait for Silence 04 to come out. Great video enjoyed it.

@@Driven247 Its good! A niche? I watch a guy over here on YT. Ben Hardy Reviews. When he does a car that I am interested in, I catch his stuff. His reviews/analysis seem bang on to me. He does the short test drive too, with his impressions. I only mention to you if you want ideas etc. - Side note - The AMI is kinda like the 16 model MX-5 Miata Club I just sold. More of a neat gadget than a car or daily transportation. Like a nice phone, Ipad, laptop or nice tool you treat yourself to. Enjoyed when I used it. Well keep calm and carry on. Cheers!

The Citroen Ami is a fantastic little car/ quadricycle but I’m not sure if I see it as cheap to buy. I have a Suzuki celerio and paid £7000 for it brand new in 2016, it’s good in town and easily keeps up with traffic travelling on motorway’s I can take 4 passengers (at a push) and is tax exempt + fuel economy is very good. The Citroen Ami is certainly a step in the right direction for electric vehicles,but I think that I will need to wait until They can offer what my little Suzuki gives me. Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts on the little Ami, I would certainly like to have a drive in this car as it does look like great fun.

Who wouldn't love an EV for its instant torque & its fewer moving parts compared to its ICE counterparts. I'm sure it suits your parents needs, but for me it's too compromised so it would have to be a used EV for me for the same price as the Ami or an new Electric moped & save some cash.

The People who say it is dangerous are Ventriloquists because they are talking out their backside. You can call your Vehicle anything you like, a Little Car, my Tesla, anything you want. Everyone with a brain will know what you mean. It looks like a little Car so that's good enough for me. The great thing about the Ami is, unlike other Electric Vehicles, you can hear it coming. You should buy a cushion which tires round the back of the seat. That will make driving easier on your bum.

To expensive, cold in winter, hot in summer, ok in France for a 14 year old great, its basically a moped with a roof, you start with a moped, but you want to move on to something bigger and better eventually don't you, looks like you would need another vehicle also if you want to venture out of town, not really cost affective is it.

It has to be considered as a covered moped within 30mph roads and as so many are 20mph these days it makes sense. If you want a car to do everything and commute on 60mph roads then it isn't for you. Long distances at speed are out. Anyone who is thinking of one has to consider carefully their normal routes and usage.Would you take a moped on fast A roads?? As said in the video it's relatively low speed so is safer than 2 people on 50cc moped. It's covered so more comfortable and actually has quite a bit or room for shopping etc. The idea is you use it locally on a day to day basis and plug it in at the end of the day either on a standard 3 pin or proper ev charger although it will not charge any faster than the 3 pin. It's like a phone plug it in at the end of the day.
