Had a cowboy helmet, but a cop confiscated it.he told me that it was not DOT approved, and went as fast as to say that he checked it out and it was an equestrian hat.

There are plenty of police that don't know. The law and they don't know what they're talking about. It's important to know it for yourself so you can fight it. If he confiscated a legal helmet, you could have got a large sum of money.
