When I was 14, my mom, sister, and I, went to visit my oldest sister. We were on a bus, riding thru rural Florida. Mom, and I are in the front seat, opposite the driver. The bus drove over something,. Both of our heads swung to look at each other, and said, simultaneously, "that was somebody's head!!!" It was a young black Male. It had it's eyes closed. To this day I still see it.

@Mandi_mayhemm9 ай бұрын
Love this movie! I'm a practicing witch, and while there was still plenty of movie magic in this (the kind thats only in movies and not real lol), i personally think its one of the best representations of actual witchcraft in media. ESPECIALLY for it's time. And thats because they had an actual witch as a consultant. They reached out to an occult shop owner for a connection to a witch that could help them make a movie about witchcraft as accurate as possible while still selling tickets. Pat Devin was the witch they hired and she only agreed to do the project after reading the script because she thought it was good. but basically she wrote spells for the movie that would sound real, helped make sure that the rituals they were doing were based in reality, and did her dudilligence to research many faiths to make sure the diety that was made up, Manon, was not real anywhere in real life. She didn't want teens trying to invoke a real diety because they watched a movie, which whether you believe in them or not, I appreciate. lol Shes also the reason that there was an innitation scene of sorts with Sarah being brought into their coven officially, because she told them that if Nancy was going to go after Sarah for trying to leave or distance herself, there needed to be an initiation before that. As well as giving them a reason that the girls were looking for a fourth memeber, which was so they could call the four corners/elements. While a lot of the non-witchcraft related content of the movie hasn't aged the best and feels like a product of it's time, it's still such a good movie, and the world proved it by making a film that wasn't expected to do much into a hit that has stood the test of time.

I think it's interesting what each of them asked for, Bonnie wanted to be beautiful/get rid of her scars, Rochelle wanted to be able to forgive those who wrong her, Sarah wanted to love herself and Nancy asked for power, she wanted to be strong enough to fight against her evil step father, All of their wishes came true in a way, but Rochelle's was the most interesting to me, because while she did forgive her bully, the reason WHY was because she felt bad for her, she regretted what she did by making her loser her hair, while it wasn't on purpose she still felt bad and realized the truth of who she was. And yet after all of that they still turned on Sarah, which seems weird for Rochelle, for someone who felt as bad as she did to continue to go with Nancy, but I think you were right that she was being influenced by the circle, the reason Sarah wasn't was because she was the only one of the 4 with true, natural magic inside of her. I'm kinda disappointed that at the end both Bonnie and Rochelle came to her only for her power, because It felt like they genuinely cared about each other, but I guess not.

I love Nancy as a character so much I have a headcanon where she finds peace in her head and searches for redemption - I get its a 00s "villain ending", but as a character she had reasons to be greedy, like poverty and abuse, ant to be institutionalized for the rest of your life AND living in torment inside your own head sounds extremely cruel. I like to think she found herself in a better place in the future but that's me. I have a Nancy shirt that Fairuza (the actress) sold on her website to raise money to save the wolves from around the place she was living in at the time. It's been years and I still wear that shirt hehehe :) she carried this movie in my opinion.

I LOVE this movie! It was incredibly dark and borderline scary for a “teen movie”
@schiffelers39449 ай бұрын
But that's the point, Nancy is dark (her magic, her wants are dark, her psyche/soul is dark) Sarah is gray/white in her magic. A love spell is like a flood gate, not all spells are some others are as well. A love spell is harder to undo than to do. Not all spells can be fully reversed/undone. There are rules with magic, or you just don't careabout rules and consequences so to speak ... Like with the lore in Charmed with magic (though badly executed) Magic done for others is white, done for yourself/selfgain is bad/dark Of course some types of magic are dark, necromancy also depending on the elements used etc. Many religions hold magical elements to their own rituals, etc.
@LadyLocket9 ай бұрын
During the needle operation scene (which yes was exaggerated got the shock value) and similar procedures, they can't give you total anaesthesia as they need you to feel what's happening and communicate it to the operator even if the feeling is pain. They might need to carefully avoid certain nerves or know if they suddenly damage an important one. Considering she has extensive burn injuries then nerve damage and protecting existing ones is a major concern as nerves are one of the the things that the body struggles to or often can't heal and repair.
@schiffelers39449 ай бұрын
This, and the whole movie, is actually tied in with real wiccan lore/religion so to speak, neo-paganism more or less. 31:36 They are the 4 corners now, depending on the size of your coven you can do rituals harder to perform otherwise, not impossible a solitair witch can also call the corners, etc. but in general the more you add the stronger/larger the engery created; North, East, South, West. The snake Nancy has in the glass jar, symbolized earth.... It will semi make sense later (snake is als a very complex symbol) Bonnie has a fish for water, (again diffent symbolisms and meanings to both, and for all these) the bird is for the elment air, and the butterfly/moth is for fire. The elements can be divided in many diffent ways, one way is via the witches personal zodiac*. The 4 (or actually 5) elements, the 5 points on the pentagram (star) there is a lot of symbolism the 5th element is aether/spirit. The star also symbolizes a human, or can symbolize a goat head when upside down, or a human upside down. Why the star seen one way is "dark" while the other is "light" - it's both, but magic can be dark and can be light. Different numbers/symbols hold different meanings as well, some are more special than others. It is also interesting to place this in context of history and zeitgeist from when this movie came out. There is dark magic, blood magic can be both - powerful magic needs sacrifices. But I'll won't do to deep in that - then there is gray also, often many people forget there is the neutral besides positive and negative, and that negative can be positive an positive can be negative. Depending on how you look at it, the left leg of the star is fire, the left arm is water, the right leg is earth and the right arm is air. The south is Fire, the west is Water, the east is air, the north is earth. But this will also be acted out in the movie in just a second. [There are different "views"/lores/definitions, as with the different christian denominations there are covens and/or solitaire witches (male is also a witch but can have other names).] The index finger is the witch finger, one don't need a wand to direct the magic or focus the magic - and cursing, hexing etc. can be directed at a person with pointing. The rule of three, why black magic is not adviced to practice 3 is also a very important and powerful number, and if you point your index finger the 3 remaining fingers are either pointing back at you, or at yourself/own hand. Its not that the index finger holds the power, the witch does. This is put simple but is a little bit more nuanced and complex. * So for me personally, my sun-sign is Leo, which is governed by the sun, and a fire sign. There are 2 other fire signs. My partner's sun-sign is Cancer, which is governed by the moon, and a water symbol. Also here 2 other water signs. 12 / 4 = 3 Aquarius is not a water sign but an air sign, Taurus is an eath sign. Or with mother earth signs (native totem) my birth base totem is Salmon - which is a water/fire sign. In Eastern birth signs I am a metal monkey. But we all have all elements in ourselves, we might just have a stronger connection to some. But we can all be Enlightened / reach the avatar state in awareness, etc.

I love this movie so very much and for the record the part where Sara sees the snakes and bugs and stuff wasn't CGI they actually had that many creatures all in one place..poor robin haha. This was the first time I saw everyone here exept for Neve who I knew from Party of Five and it's interesting to see the actor of Billie from Scream here acting with Neve as specially because they came out around the same time haha. Nancy has always been one of my favorite characters and it shows just how much power can currupt so badly and it's true in real life as well. They had a witch on set giving them advice and telling them how to make this more real also she made sure to clense the set of any dark energies haha. I love that Sara came into her own which shows you that you can come back from a moment of weakness aka her trying to kill herself in the past and become stronger for it. They were not lying though magic really isn't dark or light it's just how we choose to use it that makes it so and that also points to the inner duality within us all because we all have grate darkness and light it's just which side we choose to follow that makes us who we are..the wolf you choose to feed as it were. The song in the background when Sara is watching the football practice is the theam song from Charmed which is always fun. Glad you both liked this movie.

I never ended up finishing it due to the reruns just stopping at some point. They did a great job with this movie, agreed. And yes, I very much appreciate how they talked about magic not being black and white, and how it’s all about how you do things, what you do with what you have and/or get. The scenes at the shop are probably my favourite. Oh yeah, for me it’s more of a Charmed song now. I’ve heard it so so many more times on the show. We sure did. I’m so happy it exists - Maria
