Okay, this is actually incredibly tempting over a Grom. I'd been considering a engine swapped ruckus as a runabout toy, but this is cutting out some of that work AND it actually has storage. I'm positive this little scooter is going to get a strong aftermarket scene, especially with that nice price. Hopefully though, you can decouple the brakes.

I even traded a 2015 Yamahazuma 125 scoot for a 2019 Honda Supercub - the zuma had 4,000 more miles, but he wanted to trade - a few couple years ago. The supecub battery died after frequent key fob baterry drains. My sloping driveway or parking lots are dnough to push start a geared 125.

Awesome review Alex. You covered it all. Even where it was made. For all you new riders out there, don’t complain about having to take a rider course. If you want to ride bad enough, that’s the price you pay to play! Best thing about Honda scooters is they take speed mods real well. Without any aftermarket parts I could get you 3-5 mph (top end speed) on a torque converter tweak. Carb is also a good thing too. Not many mods for FI. Should not be an issue to de-link the brakes at the pedal. Very cool bike/scooter! Honda knows how to get people riding!

I ended up buying a Navi as a third bike. Truthfully, I enjoy it more than my bigger bikes for short trips. It's perfect for running to the grocery store or any where under five to seven miles. I've been keeping track of the fuel mileage. So far, the worst tank of gas was 88 Miles per Gallon and the best tank so far has been 105 Miles per Gallon. It will be interesting to see what the Honda dealer charges for the first service at 1,000 km, which I am fast approaching.

Honda dealer wanted 5k for a used Grom. Only 300 miles. Another dealer wanted $4200 for 2018 with 300 miles. I took the second one. After registration and tax it came to $5k. I like it. This Navi is a steal.

The USA version is a little different from the version sold in my country, that's because both brake levers are on the handle bar. In my country the Navi is cheaper, it's priced about $1500, the storage box and side stand are optional. We also have the chinese copy, it's called Serpento Nova, it's even cheaper ($1280), but the storage box and side stand are included, the Nova doesn't have fuel gauge, just an indicator light for low fuel, however it has a front disc brake and alloy wheels. I think it's a good bike for beginners and for moving around city

I was looking at a battery operated bicycle but when I heard about this I was blown away. I liked the trail 125 (especially the big back area for a milk crate for groceries). I'm disappointed so far that no other after market companies have come up with a bigger than "Honda" back area to hold "just" a little more groceries. Great video man! And just an fyi, I think they linked the brakes for two reasons. One the parking brake duh, and the fact that the CVT does not like to come to halting stops or skids due to its nature of how it gradually speeds/slows. Unlike a clutch which you can disengage and re-engage at speed. My notes for Honda, parking brake is useless since it has a center stand which works perfectly fine on any steepness of hill because you don’t face a scooter/motorcycle directly up or downhill. Take my word, I do food delivery via (49cc) moped in Honolulu!

The linked brakes on the Navi exist for only one reason: it was designed and made in India based on the the Honda Activa scooter. As per Indian government regulations, any motorcycle/scooter over 200cc should have ABS. Vehicles with smaller engines need to have linked brakes.

I have a car but the current sky high cost of gas means I am tempted to buy this for the short 5 mile commute to work! My car hasn't even warmed up fully when I arrive so it doesn't get optimal fuel economy until about 12 to 15 miles on a journey.

This is actually pretty neat because in my jurisdiction the cheap insurance bracket is 49cc-109cc. The Grom is in the 110cc-400cc bracket and costs much more for insurance - you'd be better off getting a Ninja

Really cool and informative video! I have been debating getting a motorcycle for about 7 years now. It's a cycle I keep going through in my head where I think about how cool/fun it would be to put a rack on it and get groceries, or have someone on the back to go sight seeing with. There's something so silly yet admirable about the image of loading a motorcycle up with groceries. Then I think about it practically and realize how if that'll be all it gets used for, I'd be better off putting that money towards upgrading my car. Or I just rent a motorcycle for a day to get the feeling out of my system. I haven't done that yet though because I don't want to ruin the fantasy by learning how the reality doesn't come close. I bought my red NAVI in my India in 2016. Just under $900 with all accessories. Absolutely love it. I migrated to Philippines in 2018. Sold my Navi to a friend. Now back in India for a year, I repurchased my beloved Navi...which did only 250 km while I was away 4 years. In Thailand we have a lot of choice for motorbikes since they are a staple of life here. The popular ones at the moment are Honda PCX and Yamaha NMAX/XMAX, both of which are belt driven automatics, 125-155CC bikes in a step over style rather than scooter. They come in under 3k USD. In comparison to the Grom and Navi these are more of a full sized bike and handle the roads just fine (up to 80mph), good for both men and woman. The Honda Grom I believe is called the Honda MSX here and goes for 2k USD. Would honestly love to see this in Thailand but no word at all.

Linked breaks is a throwback to the original formula that made the Cub the best selling vehicle on earth, the idea is that you can do everything with one hand and it is easier to ride. Having a small bike with a big locking storage on it makes it very practical as a city and suburban commuting bike and the CVT makes stop and go around town easy. Also it's cheaper than a Ruckus.

Price is good but here in Florida you would have to take a two day safety course ($500) to get a license (over 50 cc). That course is thanks to Harley Davidson. They negotiated the exclusive rights to the safety course for the first 3 years then lobbied and pushed for the law. Another reason I hate HD.

I recently bought a Honda Navi. 1) can't beat the price for a street legal motorcycle. 2) The Navi is almost the same price as a fancy Electric Bike 3) Teaching my boy how to ride a motorcycle without the clutch as a beginner rider what great, he just focus on using the brakes, turn signals, start and stop on traffic, etc.. 4) As my second bike, easy to get round town specially work and stores, save a lot on gas.

Awesome Video, Thanks! The Grom is 5mph faster but the Navi is quicker start and easier to learn on. Inexpensive Street legal minibikes, great for camping trips, loading on a back porch behind your car, Makes the Navi a Great buy!

Also loved the peek at the customs! Sound system was way cool! V&H exhaust was wild! Our Navi has the Honda rear rack which adds a little security for a rider, Honda windshield helps with bugs, etc...

Really impressive for the price! But this isn’t a motorcycle in the same way that the Super Cub isn’t a scooter. It’s not about body shape, it’s about engine placement. This has the engine on the swing arm, making it a scooter. While the Super Cub has the engine on the frame, making it a motorcycle. Just a technicality though. Looks like a great ride either way, and hopefully will get a lot more people on two wheels in the US!

it's the cvt (twist n go) that makes it a scooter. It would still be a scooter if the motor was mounted on the upper frame.

@@amatureskater15 I’m not so sure about that. I don’t think the Aprilia Mana 850 GT is a scooter, for example, even though it has a cvt. But at the end of the day it doesn’t matter if you call something a scooter or motorcycle as long as it’s fun!

I think it's awesome for the price. I hope Honda considers a 2nd model with the 49cc Ruckus motor because there are many states where you don't need a motorcycle license to ride a 49cc scooter.

Incredible!!! The Honda Navi was introduced a couple of months ago in South America at a cost of $931.00, in US it is introduced at $1,800.00!!!

Lol Here in El Salvador, the Navi came out in 2017 at a cost of $ 1300, now it cost 1550 $ without any extra. if you want the adventure Kit, the motorbike cost 1800 $ more or less.

Here in the netherlands (and most of the EU) you need a A1 license for this, so you need 3 exams (one theoretical and 2 practical) to be allowed to ride it, and you'll learn to shift eitherway. That said, if it gets to the netherlands, it would still be about 4k here amd a used grom is about 2800 euros when one is available.

here in slovakia you get the Am license when together with the B license and with that you can ride this, but you need the A1 for the grom

Here in America you get one license you can get it on a fully automatic 50cc scooter if you please and then your allowed to ride ANY bike ANY size lol because "freedumb"

Same, 50cc or greater requires a licence in USA. And my class put us on loaner 250cc manual cruisers to do all the testing on.

Definitely a better option over a lot of e bikes. The only bad thing is, you DO need a motorcycle license in the states to drive one. Sucks considering some e bikes or e scooters that are as fast or almost as fast as the Navi don’t require one. This is perfect for me, especially to run errands around town.

Bought the 2023 yesterday for my wife and she put about 20 miles on it. She’d never rode a motorcycle a day of her life and she is absolutely crazy about it. Very approachable, very friendly bike. Looks awesome, and it’s a freaking HONDA. How can you go wrong for 2400 bucks out the door for a brand new motorcycle?!

Might be a dumb question but for bikes like this (Navi, Ruckus, Cubs etc), do you all transport them on a truck or something to the location you want to ride for the day? Reason I ask is, while I'd LOVE to ride around the coast in Newport...there's no way I'd be able to get there via local/surface streets from Pasadena lol.

I thought about getting a Navi for my 16 yr old. 1800$ sounds awesome. The only thing is Honda dealers charge 600$ dealer fee 300$ shipping fee 159$ assembly fee plus tax title and license. Ends up being closer to 3000$.

I really love this bike, but in the USA it doesn’t make a lot of sense. In most states, you can drive a bike with a engine less than 50cc with no motorcycle license, yet the “no license need” models (ruckus & metro) are more expensive than the Navi. I get that

DUIcycles Are what they are referred to here. Part of the reason why nobody wants to associate with scooters. It's a shame really for both the scooters and the miserable looking drunks that are obviously not riding for the fun of two wheels. Better than them driving a car drunk again though.

Here in ohio beginners can ride on temps, just not on the highway or at night. It wouldn't take them long to get good enough to pass the riding test on this for an endorsement, if they wanted.

I'd seen the Navi on Honda's website and the specs and price were intriguing. This video conveys infinitely more information. Thanks! I'd have paid $500 more for fuel injection and maybe disc brakes, and I concur that it would have been good to leave linked brakes for the handbrake but have the foot brake only activate the rear brake, not just for skidding to a stop for fun, but also because dragging some rear brake can stabilize the bike for safer maneuvering. The center storage is great, but I'd give it up for more fuel capacity. Storage up front for cell phones, etc. would be nice and adding a USB charging port would be even nicer. I'm surprised that mechanical instruments are cheaper than a simple monochrome LCD. I love the fuel economy but hate that Honda has a place to list fuel mileage on their website but never do, always substituting lawyer weasel words. I'd also love to see a 2.5 or 3.0 gallon fuel tank. Who wants to stop every 100 miles to buy three quarts of gasoline? It was CRAZY to see the extensive artistic modifications people were making on these mini bikes. My mods would be more functional. I'd add a rear rack and side bags to make this a serious grocery getter or commuter bike.

Wow..Nicely priced, a perfect local commuter and just maybe cooler then a Vespa 😎 Just minutes away from everywhere I need to be, work, groceries and Beach. This just might work, Gotta test ride that Honda as I have eyes on a Sondors E motor cycle at 5.000 + so now that's a cool looking bike👍🏻 decisions decisions 🤔

These little bikes are the best thing that came out. I no longer ride bike huge heavy bikes. I loved my 14 Grom. Will buy another.
