I got one too for my first resin printer. I had a CR-10 and was looking at all the contenders. Since this one got rave reviews from knowledgeable people I stayed loyal to brand and couldn't be happier. Works pretty much out of the box. Also got the Anycubic Wash & Cure machine to go with it. I recommend getting one if you have the money.

My husband and I are looking into the idea of a 3D printer as we got into painting miniatures. I am trying to learn a bit beforehand and appreciate the videos. So realizing this is a question from someone who is completely new at the idea, if I like some of the 1:10 size scale models, how would one go about printing them on one of these, or do you need a mod sized printer? Would it be like a piece at a time on something like this? Thank you!

Thank you for this review and for your videos in general ! Could you share what exposure time do you use with this one ? (I own one, and 3.5s for 40 microns is good based on your dialing video, but i found that with presupported models it tends to fail so sometimes i go up to 5s.)

Sure! I believe for this one I used 7s normal exposure time! This was using Siraya Tech Fast Gray resin

I also found the best detail to be around 4 sec, but like you I had a problem with supports not staying intact. At 6 seconds tho, I have had very few problems and no failed prints with very good quality. I could probably go to 5 / 5.5 seconds but I haven't tried yet.

I'm about to get my first printer. Would you recommend this over the Ender 3? I know it's better for minis, but: is it good for anything else? I see more uses for a fdm other than minis, but seems that learning the process is faster with resin. Have you printed minis on your Ender? Thank you!

Have you tested elegoo's water washable resin on this machine? I own one and looking for best exposure settings. I have printed dozens of exposure matrixes to test it, but I can't nail the sweet spot. What would be best layer height and time with that resin? Got any expirience?

Hmm...makes sense as a budget option although I think its worth it to splurge for something like the Phrozen Sonic Mini 4K for $100 more. Given the printer is only a portion of the cost of resin printing (curing station and cleaning supplies/tools) the overall expense is less of a real impact.

The prices here in Germany are always a little bit different. I bought the LD-002R for 220€ in february as my first resin printer. When the pandemic started you couldn’t get it under 270€ and now it’s down to 230€.😅 4k monochrome printers are so much better, but the Phrozen Sonic Mini 4k would cost me 390€... so I preordered the Elegoo Saturn for 450€.😂

Rami Gilneas yeah I would not pay 390 for sonic mini. Saturn would be way to go. In US $300 got you Sonic Mini 4K plus bottle of 4k Resin and extra fep.

Have you tried mixing resins? I recently mixed elegoo reg gray with elegoo green washable 70%gray/30%green and it has turned out excellent prints with standard setting, it gives it a slight green tone, but the increase in toughness/strength is incredible! Makes the gray much more usable. I plan on trying it with the red and blue too.

There is a new model already in production that will be out soon. The LD-002H. That one will have a new 6" monochrome LCD. Like the Mars 2 Pro.

This is what I am curious about. I love my Ender 5 so going to resin would be nice to stay with Creality but the Saturn looks really nice....

@@StumblingBumblingIdiot Creality can't ignore the resin printer market. I'm sure they will have their own midsize printer with 8.9" 4K or 10.1" 5K LCD. Just like Anycubic the Photon Mono X and Elegoo the Saturn. Elegoo also teased the Jupiter on Twitter. I think that one will be in the range of the Phrozen Transform and Peopoly Phenom. Peopoly announced an even bigger printer. The Phenom XXL with a build volume of 527 x 296 x 550mm. All the new printers have a monochrome LCD. What also is interesting is the Phrozen Sonic Mini 4K. That one has a hires 6" 4K LCD. But only few resins are capable to deliver the quality that is necessary for such fine prints. Ameralabs can do it. Fun To Do also can. But that's about it. Phrozen will offer a special 4K resin along with the new printer.

@@Holztransistor Creality releases theirs on Alibaba Livestream Sep. 1st, 10 AM PST. Anycubic releases their 8.9" on Sep 2 at "8 AM UTC +2" which is 2 AM EST I think. Anycubic's is much larger; just under 3". So unless Creality's is very inexpensive, I'll be holding out for the Anycubic.

@@Holztransistor Creality's printer turned out to be a dud, so I ordered the Anycubic Mono X. They're coming out with a scanner, the S-1, which is the Kickstarter Phiz in disguise. When the Whambam for the X comes out, I'm getting it, too!

On future videos when showing off your prints, put an object for scale next to the model. Those were amazing, but how big were they? Throw down a quarter so we can see if they're miniatures or larger, assembled display pieces. I have this printer and I'm still fine tuning it. Are you aware of the Photonsters Facebook page? They have a beta print file for our printer that lets you see exactly what exposure times are best for any given resin. Going to give it a try this evening, in fact!
