Is the Darkhan WEAK? Bannerlord Infantry Troop Units Guide

This is a 1.8. Bannerlord in Depth Analysis of the Infantry troop known as Darkhan.
This video is part of a Mount & Blade II: Bannerlord Playlist where we analyze each unit not only based on their equipment but also on statistics taken after intensive testings.
The Data will be trimmed down and showcased both throughout the video and at the end to allow the viewer to know as much as possible about the unit in question.
A score will also be provided at the end based on Lyon’s opinion, this score shouldn’t be taken as hard evidence, as different playstyles may impact the way viewers evaluate units.

For Khuzaits, there's the impression that horse = good while foot = bad. For a steppe faction, the Darkhan sure has better body armor than Vlandian Sergeant and head armor than Battanian infantry. Also the helmet looks really cool.

They also far outclass the Aserai. The Khuzaits are definitely OP.

Yeah the Sergeant definitely needs a buff, pretty poor for high tier

I still in the opinion that these guys should have the big rectangle shields the khuzait lower tiers have but with a heavy or reinforced version of it, imo it would add more to the style factor and the tanking factor And also what's up with one handed swords having less than 100 swing speed like come on why does the infantry must be the one that have them too

Why would you want to give them big shields though? The Khuzaits already have so many amazing troops, might as well give make their infantry flawed at their basic job. Even then they're still remarkable troops, and make great wall garrisons since battlements will protect them.

There is just one Reason, why give darkhans a wicker shield. It simply makes sense.

It's such an ingenious move to give the infantry a cavalry shield. The developers are clever beyond their years.

I think an overall tier list should be for all categories - 1 handed infantry, 2 handed infantry, archers, melee cav, and horse archers. It should wait though until after Oct 25, 2022 when the game releases in case there are any changes on launch. Thanks for the amazing videos - I've subbed.

I find pairing them with other infantry namely aserai veteran infantry works amazing as they compensate for eachother weaknesses

Do you think you could make a video examining the mercenary troop tree? Obviously they can't compete with top tier units, but I'm curious as to how they compare, *exactly*

That can be done, yes. I can now test with a mod that allows me to use troops not native to custom battles. For the next video i have already tested the melee performance of the sword sisters for example. Going forward i might add some of them to the updates. And after all the main troops have been covered i can bring an update aimed at just evaluating mercenaries

With 1.8.1 out both infantry polearm and cav ai seem to be way better. Too bad a lot of the videos won't be as relevant so I don't envy your position right now, but hey it means you have an excuse to redo them on release and bank on the influx of new players. Really hope your channel goes vroom man, love your content!

i have tested unit for my personal campaigns every time an impactfull update hits. so i have no issue with some of the videos becoming irrelevant. i'll update the ones that fall behind and i will keep bringing up to date info to the analysis enjoyers. Thanks for the nice words

I've been using them recently, and can say it's a decent, even a good unit. Would never throw them away when I get them for free) But Aserai infantry is my favorite now. I'm so glad they get some spotlight after a year of mistreatment))

This is what makes infantry good: in comparison Aserai vet infantry has higher OneHanded skill, 160 vs 130 (which is typical for T5 troops), meaning that they cause more damage and have better attack. Next very important thing is size of a shield, the bigger the better. Then the size of weapon, short and fast is better than long and slow. Spear should be shorter. Fighting against Darkhans and Oathsworns is easy if you defeat their archers, that's compensation for good archers that they have and their overall strategy. Aserai Vet infantry vulnerability is lack of leg armour. Thanks to LyonExodus for making this.

Looks like shield + spear infantry became more important in 1.90. Sence calvary buffed a lot. Just mixing a few of this unit makes very nice result. But vlandian pikeman is still XD

how well would the darkhan be if they had a glaive instead of a spear? because glaives are1h/2h, I think they will just use it as a spear, but if they could use them 2h in different situations, they will be OP

likely they would still be worse than the Khan's. the armor is a bit more but the skill is what really matters

I have a love/hate relationship with the darkhan. They seem to be really solid at just holding their ground against most units, but the small shield size and lack of throwable makes me seek other units

they aren't my favorite either, the shield problem can easily be fixed or mitigated with the 125 1H perk but they'll never have that ranged potential of other, more complete units.

The Veterans are the best, or among the best from T1 to T4 but they are the 3rd worst against T5. Altough the difference between the Aserai and the Darkhan is 0,06 so very minimal among these two units.

What do you mean they can't throw their spears? I do not understand this because in my game legionaries and darkhans do throw their spears. And i don' t have any mod for that

in a way both the Legionary and the Darkhan are better units because they can't throw their spears. There are very few situations where 1 throwing spear gives you tactical advantage. Altough, you can always tap that "hold fire" button if wanted to.

They should add a template without the shoulderpads but get ONE OF THE LIKE 5-6 MACES! TW is so dumb,my god. They have so many maces but not one troop uses it. How about we balance the Khuzait? I'll make some time to post a balance change to Khuzait on the forums. Right now they are the dumbest faction,having troops that make no sense,their army composition,the best one,is just Khans spamming.
