Ya I see people seperating shock troops from shield infantry and I don't see a need for this - when you have a mixed group of shield and shock, they work extremely well together - in shield wall, the shield guys are up front and on the sides with the shock troops at the rear. I should have covered that but it was a long enough video already!

I also like making different divisions for my army. Especially separating shield n shock infantry. But then in a 700+ unit battle, the game gives me bad luck by loading in 100 cav and only like 12 infantry :/

I think I've learned why it does this - because if your settings are selected to 'highest level unit priority', the AI wants to give you the best units possible, meaning more mounted(noble, tier 6) units, and less or no tier 5 units. I cover this in a few battles and have begun dismounting troops at times to help add infantry and shock troop lines in battles like you are describing. Hope that works for you!

@@HeadlessHorsemanProductions thats actually useful to know. ill look for it in the settings. ive actually observed that dismounted cav in a shield wall just barely holds up against t5 infantry charging in mass. thankfully reinforcements spawning always save the day

On console you look at the division you want to attack then you press charge that’s the only way I’ve been able to do it so far

Hi. Thanks for your excellent videos. They're very helpful. I had a quick question about the troops sorting, how do you sort the troops in map mode (non battle) so that when the battle starts, they are already sorted in 8 groups like you have. Insetad of sorting them out at the start of each battle. Is there a Mod for this or setting?

Content is great, just one little thing the mic setup is a little harsh, you don’t need to spend money to fix it but installing a program called voice meter potato would help, gives a noise gate and you can soften and warm the audio.

I still find that the mobility and initiative of cavalry outweigh infantry in this game on both campaign and battle(open terrain). But these large battles are very eye opening for the capability of infantry in prolonged engagements. You seem to know your way around the tactical deployment screen. Do you know if its possible to seperate skirmish cavalry from melee cavalry?

I have never tried this but I assume you can click the javelin button on a cav unit?

By the way, I agree, cavalry IS dramatically important, for flanking, for campaign movement, for screens, for causing chaos. In any battle where I was pitted against another human, and I had the choice, my army would probably be literally 60-70% cavalry unless the map was wholly awful for them.

Do you think having battle sizes on maximum (500 vs 500) is something that should wait until you are fully comfortable and capable of handling parties of that size at once? I often feel overwhelmed in massive battles like that, but I feel as if I could handle it a bit better if I'm not having to manage 500 units all at the same time.

Yes, no question if it's overwhelming for you, run smaller battles(200x200) or just run 4-5 army groups max(see my intermediate videos for examples of how to slowly increase your difficulty/responsibility). I think it's just FINE to run 4-5 units but eventually it will get easier and maybe even boring for you, then add more army groups.
