I don't get it. Why don't Americans embrace the idea of higher taxes on the über-wealthy & record profits, to reduce the deficit? I mean, many costs cannot be cut. You just need more money to pay for it. An ageing population is more expensive, simple as that. Let the burden be born by the 1%. Why not?

We are a plutocracy.

They have actively been campaigning since 1971(look up 'The Powell Memo') to get rid of almost all taxes on the ultra-wealthy (welfare for the richest, while they complain about peanuts for the poor!), and are not about to let anyone interfere with their program of de-funding the govt. The purpose is to weaken and make ineffective, the govt, reduce 'interference' with the 1%, restore the peasant/ feudal Lord system and get rid of messy Democracy in any form, so they can be the dictators/Plutocrats of the new Aristocracy. It's well underway. lets stop it and de-fund them, by bringing back the tiered income tax rates that existed in the 1950s and 1960s that led to the rise of a great Middle-class, reduction in overall poverty and even the rich prospered too!

Fire your Republican representatives, all of them. Replace them with people who live in the real world. Liz Cheney for Speaker, she'll clean the House.

That is an practical blunt initial voting policy, but if you have time, "research" each ballot candidate or issue. /my ideal

@@jcbjcb2 The Republicans no longer have policies, positions or platforms, they have Trump. In 2020 the GOP had no platform, it was "whatever Trump says". How do you research that? It's all lies and bullshit. Normally I agree, knowledge first, educate yourself etc. But these are not normal politics, something has gone badly wrong in American conservative politics. Clean the House out.

It’s just crazy. Each side try to convince the other about who is to blame.

Rules can work both ways. Let's guess that whoever gets the role of Speaker, won't last 3 months. Even fewer people trust Jim Jordan than distrusted McCarthy. He'll never pass anything.

A little levity is fine, but IMO, there was too much laughter (perhaps some of it purely nervous laughter) in this video. This is a very serious subject, and the laughter tended to trivialize things too much, as I see it.

I stopped listening at 25:22 when the group dipped into hysterics for no good reason. I also found many phrases very unclear, such as "cookoo for cocoapuffs."

Possibly a racist history referring to a white person who loves black people

"Trajectory of the country" sounds similar to "States Rights". Ambiguous, but the racism is right there if you care to look.
