Ever wonder how much you sweat when you run? Or, ever wonder if your watch's fluid loss estimate is accurate? Coach Liz uses herself as a test specimen and runs through a sweat test to compare with her Garmin Watch estimate.

I always weigh myself in the morning and typically also after a run or strenuous workout of any kind. I compare it to Garmin and it is very accurate for me! Obviously if I've been drinking or eating it won't be as accurate, but the times that I'm strict it is quite good. I am someone who doesn't always think to drink water so this has been helping nudge me to hydrate better.

Same here! I really like it for the reminder! I recently noticed you can add the water you consumed during the workout into the activity on Garmin Connect so, it will include that in your daily need! Thank you for watching!

Good stuff to think about and consider when rehydrating after a run. With that said, during a marathon this past weekend, Garmin Connect stated I lost around 3012ml which equates to around 102 ounces. Seems a bit much to me, considering it was such a cool morning.

Don't forget what you drank during the marathon, you should subtract that from what garmin says to rehydrate properly, wasn't paying much attention myself until i watched the video.

That actually sounds pretty accurate! When I've run for longer, I've had high results like that too. Also, if Garmin has your current actual weight, it will be really close. Congratulations on your Marathon!! Which Marathon did you run?

I'd love to see an estimate of a long 20+ mile session in the humid 80 deg weather. I've weighed before and after and it's not uncommon to drop 8-9 lbs lol!

interesting video, but is it really that much effort for editing to add a measurement conversion? US is basically the only country using these measurements anymore and you have a world wide audience.

You are not accounting for the weight loss via exhaling CO2. In fact, that’s the main mechanism we lose weight during workouts; burning carbon and converting it to carbon dioxide and expelling it through the lungs.

It is not really significant considering the test she did, the weight lost between before and after exercise is primarily due to fluid loss, and since garmin only estimates, it is pretty good, because it is not estimating the "weight loss" only sweat.
