Hi Pastor, I'm reading about total depravity and I understand that humanity is under the power of sin but with that being true can man respond to God's provision of salvation on his own or does God have to give man the grace that enables him to do so? If God has to give the grace does he give everyone the grace to respond or does he only give it to the elect?

David, I like how you handle Scripture accurately and thoroughly in deciphering the gift of prophecy (1 Corinthians 12:10; Joel 2:28), including how some prophecy spoken in the book of Acts is not all recorded for the purposes of use as Holy Scripture (2 Timothy 3:16). Jews are still looking forward to the coming of the prophet Elijah (Malachi 4:5), as John the Baptist was sent in the "spirit of Elijah" (Luke 1:17) just like the prophet Elisha (2 Kings 2:15), but John the Baptist denied being the prophet Elijah (John 1:21) who will be sent by God to Israel "...before the great and dreadful day of the LORD comes" (Malachi 4:5), which is probably the completion of the Book of Revelation before the coming of the Messianic Age. As Jesus said, "To be sure, Elijah comes and will restore all things. But I tell you, Elijah has already come, and they did not recognize him, but have done to him everything they wished." -- (Matthew 17:11-12). Jesus speaks full of the Spirit, as He has the gift of distinguishing the spirits (1 Corinthians 12:10), as Jesus received the Holy Spirit from God the Father after his humanly baptism (Matthew 3:13-17). Jesus speaks of both the Elijah who will come to restore all things in reference to Malachi chapter 4 verses 5 through 6, and also John the Baptist who has a "spirit" like Elijah the prophet, just as Elisha had a similar situation.

God speaks audibly to people. Maybe not all the time, but He does. I can see why Jesus asked the probing question asking will He find faith in the Earth when He returns. God even spoke audibly to Cain prior to AND AFTER he murdered his righteous younger brother Abel. So people shouldn’t assume that people who heard God’s voice audibly are necessarily more spiritual than them or they’re more carnal than those He’s spoken directly to. It sounds ignorant & unbelieving to try & convince those who have literally heard His voice to unbelieve what they heard from the Creator of ears; shall He not speak? Shall we not hear? I’m glad Brother David didn’t totally dismiss the reality (not a possibility…it’s a reality) that God speaks to people, and people speak to God.

👩🏻 Since I started 📚 reading the Gideon Bible in 2020, I have been physically attacked. 4 fractured ribs, metatarsal fracture, knee fractures, and this year fell backwards, and up in the air in the bathtub. Ended up rolled up in the shower curtain, my head inches away from the edge of the tub. I have never in my life, had so many accidents, Pastor Guzik.. My physical pain, at times prevent me from reading the Bible.. Sorry for all this, but I need to know, besides psalm 23, 91 and 121 what prayer can I say, to end, break any witchcraft, bonded or contracts done against me? Does using salt, like the old days, on the entrances to my home protect work? 🤷🏻‍♀️🧂pure salt, Himalayan pink salt?

Advice : contact your Pastor ASAP , and tell him what is happening , he should respond immediately and come and see you with his wife and maybe another Elder , he will ask you some basic questions, he will be looking for the foothold the Poltergeist (demonic spirit) is using to be in your home , like , any new books come in , what movies you watch , any pamphlets come into your home from like , Hare Krishna, Mormons JW , and so on , do you have any new jewelry , any images paintings pictures , carvings , do you or have you played with a Ouija board , tarot cards , horoscopes, when you find these with their guidance , he will lead you in a pray of repentance , and remove (to burn) them , then he will go through every room of your house , and plead the blood of the lamb , and in n Jesus name command them to leave, he will teach you how to do this , and what to watch for . If praying in tongues should be practised when we are going through an extremely pressurised and troubling situation, why then in the OT there are people praying in normal language when they were going through similar situations.

There are two different gifts prophecy and knowledge that I mentioned in corinthians. One of them actually applies to people who may be preachers or evangelists who speak the word of God because they're trying to get the attention of the church or the people in a community. Returning to God or walking in the ways of God for repentance is usually the message of those types of profits. Knowledge is more about understanding the things of God maybe things that aren't clearly revealed. There is very little need for that kind of knowledge because we do have the Bible which interprets itself now. The third thing that sometimes gets associated with either of these associated with these two would be the kind of presents or predicting of future events such as when people took their belts off to warn Paul that he would be taken away from Jerusalem bound to rome. I believe that particular one it's Ministries in the church has ceased. I keep seeing people talk about this idea of cessationism as if it's some kind of heresy or something, but a lot of people who use that word don't even understand the people who might fall into that category. There's nothing that says that God can't use any of these things at individual moments it's just that these gifts are no longer in regular use and practice within the church

That's an excellent rule, a rule that Jesus himself gave us to go by but that, very sadly, Evangelicals often are afraid to apply to Trump, the so-called "Chosen One". They create all kinds of "interpretations" and twisted logic to excuse their rejection of the common sense of these words of Jesus: "Are grapes gathered from thorns, or figs from thistles? In the same way, every good tree bears good fruit, but the bad tree bears bad fruit. A good tree cannot bear bad fruit, nor can a bad tree bear good fruit. Every tree that does not bear good fruit is cut down and thrown into the fire. Thus you will know them by their fruits." The same kinds of twisted logic has been applied to Hitler, who, it has been claimed, was "sent by God in order to help create the modern state of Israel and thereby fulfill prophecy." So, we can say that God used Hitler to fulfill prophecy and now God is using Trump to fulfill prophecy! Now *that* is twisted logic.

Question: Can someone get saved by simply reading the Bible or simply reading the Book of John? Or the Gospel or verses from the Bible without any human sharing the Gospel with them? I have friends who say no, a person must share the Gospel with you, it’s impossible to just read scripture, Place faith in Jesus and be saved. Their proof text is Romans 10:14 is this true?

Yes! 1 Corinthians 14:3 NIV But everyone who prophesies speaks to men for their strengthening, encouragement and comfort. and both sexes 1 Corinthians 11:5 NIV And every woman who prays or prophesies with her head uncovered dishonors her head--it is just as though her head were shaved.

Question: Are Christians allowed to hate non believers? Or more specifically, are Christians supposed to hate homosexuals? I have a friend who has been convinced the Bible teaches this, by a very bad Bible Teacher (in my opinion) I am trying to show him the Bible teaches we are supposed to love everyone, and I’m struggling to make that clear using the Bible. How exactly do we pray in the Spirit, is it just praying in tongues?

Pastor Lance replies - Great question. In 1 Cor 14:15-17, the Apostle Paul says - "What is the conclusion then? I will pray with the spirit, and I will also pray with the understanding. I will sing with the spirit, and I will also sing with the understanding. Otherwise, if you bless with the spirit, how will he who occupies the place of the uninformed say “Amen” at your giving of thanks, since he does not understand what you say? For you indeed give thanks well, but the other is not edified." It seems that Paul equates "praying in the spirit" with tongues, while "praying with the understanding" means one's native language. Although, in a broader sense, the Holy Spirit can certainly direct us to pray a certain way in our native language too. But the Biblical terminology seems to link praying in the Spirit with tongues.

Wanted to add another name to assist for the question of solid Pastor with messages of truth. I've been thinking lately that Paul's letters are helpful, but not words from God. This is the opposite of what some preachers are saying. They throw out the gospels, Acts, and Hebrews as Old Testament. Not me.

Paul’s epistles are God Breathed scripture, Paul was also the unsigned author of Hebrews so trust in all The Lord gave Paul to establish the Gentile Church and its operation.

What is more impairing to reputation for Christian ministry than unrighteously slandering and imprisoning Christians? If Paul can be restored and qualified for ministry, over time, why can’t a truly repentant person who has exposed their sin and bare fruit of genuine repentance? Do all speak in tongues? My friend insist that we all of the body of Christ are able to pray in tongues. I plainly told him I have no desire to speak to God without understanding. Now if I indeed am edified by praying in tongues, then I certainly desire that, but I can’t help but to think that would grieve God for me to cluelessly speak to Him with assumed angel language and expecting supernatural edification; that being said, I’m still open to anything to strengthen my obedience to Christ, therefore I’m desperate for an explanation of how praying without understanding in an unknown tongue can edify

I once thought the same as you. Then I asked our Heavenly Father and He being a good Father gave me the gift (Luke 11:5-13 emph verse 13). It was awkward at first, but now - well I don't want to live without this wonderful gift! It is edifying Ask God, the Father for it and do not be afraid - praying for you.

The only explanation is that [I] be still know He is God. Though having no idea what I pray, there have been times that I knew an unknown, unseen battle was just won because my natural submitted to my spirit allowing the Holy Spirit to help me pray. You desire anything to help you grow in obedience to the Lord, step out in faith and ask Him for this gift. He will be pleased and you will be built up.

Why would Jesus after His Ascension Give Us the Ascension Gifts the 5 Fold Ministry to Grow into Maturity of Him (Ephesians 4:11-16)(Ephesians 2:20 ) Apostles and Prophets with Jesus Christ as the Chief Cornerstone which makes the Foundation of the Church. I know that there are many Christians who think that there isn’t Church Government in the 5 Fold Ministry. I find that ironic since pastors are listed last and mentioned only once in the entire New Testament. Why would Jesus put the Pastors in Charge When the Apostles and Prophets part of the Foundation of the Church. Another Question is the Lord’s Prayer a Command. If it is why don’t we follow it. As Christians do we get the right to pick and choose what commands will follow?

Pastor Lance replies - The Apostle Paul is clear that the foundation the Church is apostles, prophets, evangelists, and pastor-teachers. Four listed there, not five. The rules of Greek grammar are clear - 'pastor-teacher' is the same office. A foundation is something that is laid, then built on. It is not continually laid. Therefore, we ought to think of the apostles and prophets Paul mentions, not as on-going offices, but as the original apostles and prophets. They laid the foundation that evangelists and pastors build on.

You must not read scripture that Jesus not Paul said, what the church foundation is. Jesus said, it’s the Apostles and Prophets and Jesus Christ as the Chief Cornerstone. (Ephesians 2:20) Finish reading to the end from 2:20 it will give you the reason of why Jesus is using the foundation for His Church and Ephesians 4:11-16 with the ascension gifts of the 5 Fold Ministry. If you read all the translations and versions in Ephesians 4:11-16 mention 5 Fold Ministry not Four. Who are your original apostles and prophets that have built the church? Most of the Theologians I have heard speaking on Apostles Which means special messenger I have heard 13 -25. I believe it’s more. You do know apostles mentioned 85 times in New Testament. Prophets occurs over 150 times in the New Testament, about 20 of those occurrences referring distinctly to prophets in the Church Age. Teachers occurs 125 times in the New Testament. Evangelists occurs only 3 times in the New Testament. Pastors occurs precisely one(1) time in the entire New Testament! One time! Pastors only mentioned in (Ephesians 4:11) I guess your Greek grammar rules really don’t exist cause all the Bible translations and versions.

Do not add or take away from the God’s Word and what it says is very clear: “Follow the way of love and eagerly desire gifts of the Spirit, especially prophecy.” (1 Cor 14:1) If you believe in God’s Word and that it is for today, there is no dispute that we are to seek prophecy. Even in the pentecostal churches, no one is supposed to tell what God is supposed to say unless someone is present to discern.
