Hello there, as a guy in Norway I can tell you why there ain't that much of nordic recipes in the book. It's because there ain't much that is grown here and the cuisine is very lacking as a consequence of that. Most people here in norway don't really eat "nordic cuisine" to be honest and I've had the same experience when I was in sweden and denmark. The last one has good pastry and baking culture though. But yeah, ain't much to see here in terms of food that is local.
@ruhalfoyls Жыл бұрын
I disagree. As a dutch man i love your fish and meat culture. Simple and tasty. Also love the bread with some butter and dutch cheese. Just like my own culture its basic rustic tasty filling and good for getting big and strong. We eat to survive, not survive just to eat.

The addition of asian cuisine is probably no accident. In the post game, when you see Tyr, he's doing some Tai chi exercises or movements, or sitting in ways traditional to eastern cultures. The Devs hinted that the next God of War game is gonna go east, either to India for Hindu myth, China for the Tao/buddhist/confusionism blend that Journey to the West gave us, or Japan for shinto myth.

yeah, that cheese filling was far too watered down. Next time, take that apple and lemon juice and reduce it by half gently on the stove to concentrate it and remove the excess moisture. You can also just use a single tablespoon of frozen apple juice concentrate and 1 tbsp of lemon juice and a pinch or two of lemon zest. This keeps your cheese filling firm. I'd also recommend using the leftover dough to layer on top of the original dough and build up the "wall" around the filling. Just brush the edges down with butter and apply your dough sheet strips.

Hey Miso! Great video as always. This book looks super interesting. For the goat cheese tarts, I probably would've popped the tarts with the filling only in the fridge for a couple hours to firm it up a bit. I also wonder if the pressure from brushing the honey butter on the apples caused some of the spillage as well, so maybe tossing the apples in the honey butter before putting them on top would've worked better? Though, that would get pretty sticky to work with, so another idea would be to heat the honey butter so it's easier to drizzle/pour on top of the already placed apple slices. Not sure which would work better 🤔

My friends and I are trying to go through a variety of fowl for fun (or, I really want us to do it while they humour me), we have already done chicken, and last time we did turkey, and I was initially planning on us doing the Final Fantasy XIV Cookbook's duck next, when we find time in our lives to do it and find some duck. I am half tempted to try the quail if only because I cannot remember evern having tried it (usually chicken and grouse are what we find here), and if nothing else, the size would make it an experience, and whatever we cannot get from the bones, I can use to make stock. I would have found it interesting if the cookbook tried to go deep into the food of the Nordics, but I would worry that it would sort of be like with the Game of Thrones and Avatar: The Last Airbender cookbooks, that the food would not necessarily be anything tasty, and what would be tasty would require ingredients difficult to find. Besides, I get the impression that the God of War games do not try to go for any realism; they researched the Norse mythology, took what they liked and warped it to fit with what they wanted to tell in their games, so in a way, this cookbook picking what it likes and then going a bit everywhere with the various recipes works within the context of the duology. I say it with caution, though, since I have not consumed the games myself and only heard secondhanded about them.

I feel like there was a step that was missed in the puff pastry dessert. I don't understand why the instructions asked you to make that second smaller ring on the inside of the dough. Maybe you were supposed to fold the sides up like a pie crust?
