Oh. I’m actually interesting in this book, I held off on buying it because I assumed it was like every other gimmicky cookbook, where the recipes were over-simplified, but this looks like a good genuine cookbook

you're probably not going to read this. but for baking please try to follow a recipe in the metric scale, Baking is very precise. here's a simple cake recipe to try it out with: 200 grams of flour 200 grams of sugar 200 grams of butter 4 eggs 8 grams of vanilla sugar a pinch of salt instructions: In a bowl, mix the butter, sugar and vanilla sugar. Mix this into a creamy mixture. Add the eggs one by one and mix until smooth. Add the self-rising baking flour and salt to the batter little by little. Keep mixing until you have a smooth batter. Pour the batter into a greased and floured baking pan. Bake the cake for 60 minutes at 175 °C (top and bottom heat). Just before the end of the baking time, check if the cake is done with a wooden skewer or cake tester. If the skewer comes out clean, the cake is done. After baking, leave the cake to cool in the baking tin for a few minutes. After this, dump the cake onto a wire rack and let it cool completely.

Could someone let me know if the chili is too spicy? As a white guy who struggles with chipotle, it sounds so good but I don’t know if it would kill me

I personally would be thrown off by the amount of ingredients or the prices. Lobster, quid ink etc. are not really easy to find here.

Thoroughly enjoying your content, thanks. Would like to point out it would help with practical applications if some aspects related to incredients were more detailed, such as what actually is the browning sauce in this context -- and especially here, what type of steak sauce you used (i assume it was HP, right?) to get the result of your own liking?

To me, this is perfectly illustrative of Avatar as a franchise. Looks nice, but has nothing else really going on. They couldn't even pretend to have interesting lore for the cookbook

on one hand I understand why Earth's food has no meat, given that Earth has become an overexploited planet having cattle is probably impossible, and the technology level doesn't really allow for stuff like synthetic meat...on the other hand this cookbook looks really generic, doesn't really provide much additional lore, the recipes don't feel "Pandora-esque" or Sci-fi-esque enough, it's just generic modern healthy food with fancy names. Kinda disappointing

To be fair, the human military would probably be looking to source their diet primarily from the planet they are stationed on, given how long it would take to send anything to Pandora via spaceship. Modern military rations have a shelf life of 3-5 years. By the time they got to Pandora from Earth, they wouldn't be fit to issue Also, military rations are generally designed as a short term solution to keep soldiers fed until an actual field kitchen can be set up. Keeping a field kitchen operational would probably require at least some locally sourced foodstuffs on an alien planet

its endlessly disappointing that avatar has some of the most intense and complex worldbuilding for a movie ive ever seen yet so little of it ever makes it out into their products bc disney owns the IP and they care more about making money than telling a story

This is so disappointing to see- an actual detailed and elaborate Avatar themed cookbook with effort put into it would be amazing! I feel making a cookbook like that for this universe would be a goldmine. At least Disney World made some effort to create food and drinks that look like they could vaguely be from the world of Pandora.. and that's quick service food in a theme park! Thanks for the review :)

I love your cookbook reviews so much - I actually picked up the Necromnomnom because of them! I think you should really take a look at the "Secrets of the M*A*S*H Mess" by Jeff Maxwell - It's actually written by an actor from the show! I got it as a christmas present, and I really love the book.

From what little I know of the Avatar series, there is a surprising amount of lore and worldbuilding built around the movies and it's confusing that none of that was utilized for this cookbook. The recipes certainly looked interesting even if they lacked in tastiness.

I don't have this cook book (do have the other Avatar cook book, the Last Airbender one) but it looks like they could have developed these recipes more. And they could have been way more creative with the presentation. It does have some nice art work but in all it's just so un-creative.
