The Ministry of Justice is considering a plan to release offenders after they've served just 40% of their sentence in a bid to tackle overcrowding in prison.
Sir Keir Starmer has said it's one of the most urgent issues facing his new government - with prison governors warning they'll be full within the next week or so.
The new proposal would only apply to non-violent prisoners but could mean thousands of prisoners would be released early across all prisons in England and Wales.

Surely it depends on the crime and behaviour/level of rehabilitation of the prisoner ? It could be a really motivation for people to rehabilitate

Needs must,an urgent need for prison places,and prison place's taken up by non violent prisoners. We either build more prisons or look at different ways of dealing with certain crimes.

Violent Prisoners should not be let our early. The hotels in Rwanda can be used to house prisoners. As far as I know, Rwanda kept the money given to them.by the tory government .

Squatting already is a crime. It has been for a while now. But even with it now being a crime, if you can prove: you, or a succession of squatters, have occupied the property continuously for 10 years (12 years if it’s not registered with HM Land Registry) you (or your predecessors) acted as owners of the property for the whole of that time you (or any of your predecessors) did not have the owner’s permission, for example the property was not originally rented to a squatter You can apply to become the owner of the property without the owners permission.
