Is the Hanover hotel, Liverpool worth £35 per night?

I stay in the Hanover anytime I'm in Liverpool for games Kev. Given the location, the amenities, bar selection and the full English breakfast for the price you pay it's great value. Also if you book through their own website there is an extra discount. There can be noise if you are staying at the weekend but given the bars and clubs on the adjacent streets that is to be expected. They don't serve food after breakfast but there's always ONeills next door which does and there are also any amount of restaurants/take aways nearby.

@@northred4930 like most hotels in Liverpool availability is limited on match days but I never have to book months ahead. At the same time I wouldn't leave it until the week of the match. In the current climate more and more people are using smaller independent hotels. If all you want is somewhere to get your head down, thats close to all main attractions, has a good choice of drinks and drinks promotions topped off with a good breakfast the next morning then it's hard to look past. I'd certainly not be paying the extra for plastic plants in the foyer and everything colour coordinated, even if lenny henry does get a good nights sleep 🤣.

What a change in The Hanover when I first started going the match 40 years ago it was a rough spot. I used to stay in some dodgy b&bs the worst are now all gone thankfully. Good work lad well done.

I know! Amazing stuff. lol Do the Flat Iron close to Anfield when you get a chance. I was supposed to stay there the night my mother died, after the test event, but had to leave suddenly obviously. The room was amazing, only drawback though were the 40 stairs up to it, but as long as you have good mobility you're ok. There is one room on the first floor only climbing 20 stairs.

When I travel to 'pool for a match, I only need the Bed, so i'm looking for a clean and comfy bed with preferably Brekkie inc. The size of the room is of secondary importance. I try to keep to a max of £40, and stay for 3 to 4 nights as there is ALWAYS things to see and do in Liverpool. I usually achieve this..., but nearly alwasy need a bus to get into Town or to Anfield. Of course I know of McCartney's, but for some reason, never looked upon it as a Hotel. So thanks for pointing this out to me..., but you've also made many others aware of the Hanover now, so i'll have to be very quick if I wanna get a room here.

... just thought of a couple things Kev, that could be useful. When in city centre Hotels, I will usually ask fo a room facing the back of house, as they are generally quieter. I have also noticed that some people don't always like to carry their luggage up and down stairs, especially if they are narrow, as is the case in some of those older Hotels. So maybe that would be worth a mention in future reviews, as to wether or not there is a Lift, plus a quick look out the window to see which side the room is on...., just me thinking out loud Kev. Sorry.

Jeez! Not been The Hanover since the 80's! Boasted "The longest bar in Liverpool!" Had one of the best Jukeboxes in the City Centre. (Chris Rea. Let's Dance always playing). Early 90's it turned into a sports bar and it went downhill. So, nice to see it back on it's feet and looking decent. Thanks mate :)

That is great value for the city centre , anyone complaining about noise is not being real altho a little friendly banter doesn’t cost anything as far as the staff are concerned altho they could be nice people . We go to the Pool games but surely this place at that price & a breakfast must be booked out all year round ? Also people should remember if your staying in the city center you save an absolute fortune on taxis except on Matchday so value nodoubt ( Sor mate I know you taxi ) would love to have seen that apartment up by the ground please consider it for the future 👍🏻 YNWA 🇮🇪

When I came to Liverpool, I stumped at the one further down the Nova hotel and that was £99 a night with the pets. I stopped there for three weeks because I used the money to deposit on the flat. I got scammed the landlord but that one was alright, was quiet, I think because it was more expensive, and it’s strange now as I am now living in Toxteth and every time I go past the strange 😊👍

Hi Kev, Good review, but a bit misleading when you say £35 per night and suggest football fans should stay. All hotels in Liverpool increase their prices on Saturday’s and when Liverpool play at home. I bet that hotel will be around £100 per night on those days. I’ve been staying in hotels around Liverpool since 2004, including the Hannover about 20 years ago when hotels seemed to cotton on they could charge more for Saturdays and match days.

I did mention the match day price in the video, my single room raises to £49, but most of the other rooms go up to £65, which in my opinion is still a very good price.
