Some people say the 22b is overhyped, if you take into account the pinnacle of a brand the nsx and 22b are the top of their bespoke manufacturers, and for the fans of those brands the dream. It’s all subjective, unless you’re a hater, then misery is your dream ride.
@sepg50849 ай бұрын
No need to be a hater to realize if something is over hyped or over rated. And the word fans/fanbois are from the word "fanatics", so it is reasonable to expect that their opinion is overly-biased, regardless of brand. A fan of Kia Sportage can claim that their car is the G.O.A.T. or whatever, since you claim that it is subjective. But someone does not need to be a hater to realize that Kia Sportage is a subpar vehicle, just look at the number of recalls. Just because someone does not agree, it does not mean they are a hater. And people who claim as such are the ones that are miserable snowflakes who can't handle opposing opinions 🙃

I like the 22B, but for what it costs these days you could buy an actual widebody Subaru World Rally Car (as some people have done)! Not "just" a somewhat modified WRX STi Type R road car. Please correct me if I'm wrong, but my understanding is that apart from the wide bodywork kit and the engine, most of the 22B is "standard" STi Type R/Type RA. E.g., the wide track is done via the offset of the wheels, so the suspension is just ordinary Type R coupe suspension. Quick steering rack, DCCD, water cooled intercooler -- that's the same as any Type R/Type RA (even if all that stuff was missing on the AuDM STi coupes).

@@sepg5084 mostly people are only making wrong comparisons in my point of view. The NSX was clearly the car which changed the world of supercars globally. There's no denying possible about it, specially when Gordon Murray and many important people said so. The NSX was better on everything compared to the F348. It costs less, was more reliable, with better performances and comfort.

Honest review and with great first time reactions. The NSX comes alive in 3rd gear so please try it on a major circuit where it was designed for but able to saunter around shopping. Every kilo costs horse power so the NSX's light weight to power ratio is more than ample for most drivers to not reach the car's limit on a race track. The low down nose always brings a smile to my face.

It's not particularly powerful or fast, just as how a lot of Honda motorcycles aren't very impressive on the spec sheet -- the point is the quality, fit-for-purposeness and attention-to-detail becomes apparent over owning and driving/riding the vehicle for a long period of time. Whereas there are "certain" other brands that are impressive on the specification sheet and may have a wow factor (say the big powerful Corvette ZO6 or better still Dodge Viper of the time), but then certain annoyances and things that don't work quite right or aren't well resolved start to nibble away at the owner over longer periods of time... In this case, the car's excellent chassis balance and usability for the time shine through. Where a Ferrari 348 or 355 would have more wow factor or the Porsche 964 or 993 would have a distinctly air-cooled Porsche old-school look, feel & sound. Or in the Japanese competitors obviously the turbocharged Nissan Skyline GT-R, Toyota Supra or even RX-7 could easily produce a lot more power. But the owner would start to appreciate why the NSX is excellent when driving it everyday, as well as people enjoying the way they handle and give lots of driver confidence & adjustability on a circuit.🙂 [Not saying the Skyline, Supra or RX-7 aren't well resolved!]

That lil car was so much fun to drive.

The NSX came out in the time of the F348, so it's more the 355 which inspired itself on the NSX, as many other supercar and sport cars who came after. One of the most famous automotive journalist said " if you like your modern Ferrari, you need to thanks for the Honda NSX ".
@Gryphus-R9 ай бұрын
You have to see this car as what it was meant to be: Something designed to beat at Ferrari of the era. And yes, this was superior to the Ferrari of the era in every aspect. But anyone who could afford a Ferrari back then would not get this, because this is a Honda after all (no matter how good it is), and what matters to most prospective purchasers is having the prancing horse logo, not what car of the two drivers best.

Great and honest review. The Momo steering wheel works and is actually of the period as it was fitted to the NSX-R in 1992 and it's an original "proper" NSX-R one of those too(Nerd alert!😁 the early R's Momo's had red stitching, the later black, so it's even more "period correct"). You can still buy new OEM ones, along with the horn button and surround. There seems to be way more out there than actual NSX-R's...

In 1990? Yes, absolutely. It revolutionised the sports car industry. Go drive a Ferrari 348 and a 355 back to back and tell me there's not a MASSIVE jump between them, far bigger in every way than the jump from 302 to 328, or 328 to 348. The NSX is what forced Modena to actually develop an entirely new, much more modern platform for the next gen (the 360), because they knew the semi-monocoque shite under the earlier mid-engined V8 cars was a solid 20 years out of date by that time. Granted, today there are a lot of cars that will run rings around it (obviously) and you can even wring similar lap times to a stock 1990 NSX out of a current model BRZ. That's what over 30 years of development should bring, though.

People are gonna think I’m crazy but the real predecessor to the 90s NSX is the new C8 Corvette. Before you say “HELL NO” just look at the shape of both vehicles. Both cars are Naturally Aspirated rear engine cars designed to compete with way more expensive Supercars of their respected eras. The new C8 Corvette closer to what the old NSX represented than the new NSX of today.

Looks like it has the long OEM tranny ratios & final drive similar to the USDM. The JDM gearset is notably shorter and MANY USDM owners swapped for the JDM ratios & final drive. Lost a little top speed but much better low-speed performance. The 6-speed (1997+) has basically the 1st 4 gears from the JDM 5-speed so is also great. But still, probably my favourite car right out of the box. Cars from Japan needs to drive a JDM NSX.

Can’t beat the handling of a well balanced mid engine sports car with double wishbone suspension. A “Supercar” it is not & will never be by any means as it’s not a Ferrari F40, Testarossa or Porsche 959 etc. A 2015 Porsche Gt4 Cayman would be a more practical, viable & better option by far. Strongly recommend you drive a Gt4 & I guarantee, it will blow your socks off & make the Nsx look very old & outdated in comparison.

What an absolute turd of a comment. No shit a 25+ year new car would beat an older car. It would be embarrassing if it didn’t. But actually drive both cars instead of looking at spec sheets.
