Thid is my issue lol, I have a 2012 ram 1500 5.7L, I've done an 83mm BBK throttle body, 5.2L Shelby cobra 3" X pipe exhaust kit with true duals from the 1-3/4" BBK long tube headers , rave cats and shes tuned. My stovk airbox with the K&N drop in filter I had in it which did wonders on my truck prior to the longtube headers, race cats and bigger throttle body, started being restrictive. So i just installed a rough country CAI hooing I didn't just waste money, but man ogh man she's back to being roudy but picked up 20HP on the dyno with fine tuning. Proof of what this man is explaining, its based on application and other mods

Alot of us in Canada in the mid 2000's when R32 GT-R's became Legal for import were building, or rebuilding our blown up RB26's to 9.6:1 (or careful to keep just under 10.0:1 for pump fuel) vs the factory 8.5:1 compression ratios. Staying with low mount Twin bolt-ons such as the Garrett GT2860R-5 or -7 with a simple In/Ex Cam upgrades, completely woke up the platform and made it very different to drive on the street. I eventually imported a set of the 'N1 Cast exhaust manifolds' and was pleasantly surprised to see how big of a port/runner volume difference there was compared to stock measuring them side-by-side. They helped Turbo spool/response as well. I appreciate Ric's attention to the Basics and not getting lost in a huge unrealistic build list.

Even Ric admitted that his company built JGTC Skyline replica with their own twist, and yet many people sharing the video of the car thought it was the real one brought from Japan.... 😆

Yes... People keep thinking about adding more boost, but add compression and less boost with better control. The Boost number is just a of resistance. SAme with the suspension, people keep making them to hard a setting but make it lower, but then you can't hit bumps with out upsetting the chassis.

It's funny how many people in the skyline tuning fraternity slowly realise that sometimes standard parts are best. Mine's using a standard airbox when most are using some modified unit. Great video & it's great to see blokes from the UK representing skyline GT-Rs.

Fred Gibson had so many tricks up his sleeve in that era. He had to develop Australian components as the factory Nismo parts were eye watering lay expensive. One such act of smoke and mirrors was one fellow competitor complained about irregular parts, Fred would go to the truck and pull out an identical part wrapped up in Nismo packaging and with the correct homologated part number. The officials couldn’t disagree with him, but u known to them, Fred had reproduced his own Nismo packaging. 🇦🇺👍🚀

I believe you might be talking about Larry. Don’t worry, he used to visit the Holden engine foundry to modify the castings for his engines.
@Louie23095 күн бұрын
@ yes if was Larry that objected. But on the subject of Larry going to the foundry, he did so with Holden then homologating the components. But Gibbo was the master of smoke and mirrors and thinking outside the box.

I could listen to Ric and Jake talk GT-R for hours, been following the Ric Wood cars for years at this point and they've just quietly been killing it the whole time. Almost always first place in every historics race. Rarely retired for mechanical. The pricing for the cars is an insane bargain for the engineering and hardware in them.

Great video. Seen the Calsonic car a few times at historic touring car races in the Uk and remember looking underneath it in a paddock garage at Brands at one of its first events and seeing all the beautifully machined hubs etc. Its a work of art. Great to see how enthusiastic both Ric and Jake are about the R32.
