Personally not a fan of these brands but i like that it swallowed the ego/ dominance that the german and Japanese brands tended to make South Africans believe. Their mindset has shifted tremendously though not so much VW..... Usually, it either you pay the price they asking or walk away. So, i like the variety and competitiveness it adding to these so called dominant brands. Nice review❤

I test drove a Chery Tiggo Pro 7 Max. Beautiful vehicle. But I reckon I would last about 30 seconds before I drove off the road, trying to press thingies on the touch thing. Ps. Try to bring in your boy more in future reviews. Kids always have the most interesting things to say.

On the flip side, you only need to setup your features once and most likely not while you driving. Like any other brand with similar tech you will not be scratching for feature once you get familiar with it 👍

Jules, what you completely fail to mention is that to spec a VW or Audi up to what the Chinese offer as standard adds another R100k to the price. When so many new cars are being brought in from China (Ford, etc) and Toyota is keeping market share by selling Suzuki, is that car buyers are looking at 3-5yr buying cycles. A decontented RAV4 starts at R700k. A bare-bones Tiguan at R640k... the old-guard are screwing customers to the mex.

Who is buying a car for 20 years these days, if you are stick to Toyota or something like that but these cars are not targeted at those people. Younger people have different needs and these cars speak to those needs. I've noticed majority of the people who are hell bent on discrediting the Chinese brands are either older people who are stuck in their ways or young people who don't know how to think for themselves and make decisions for themselves.
@kolelegodi6022

Your analysis is factually incorrect. I am young and the reason I am not for Chinese brands has got everything to do with economics. These cars are imported and it puts car employees of locally made cars at risk.
@SDav21
@SDav21 2 күн бұрын
@@kolelegodi6022 That is the car manufacturer's fault though. Why are we paying the same price, no, actually more, than the markets we export the cars we make to. The C Class, X3, Ranger, Corolla Cross etc is not any cheaper being made here than if it was made elsewhere. It is greed and they do not need to cost that much. So I for one applaud the Chinese cars for this because maybe they can knock some sense in to the legacy brands.

I feel like all these moans about touchscreens aren't addressing the symptoms of the problem. Why do people need to constantly fiddle with the A/C while driving? It has Climate Control...it should be controlling the climate. It should be set and forget which has always been my experience with Climate Control so is there a problem with the Climate Control not doing it's job...or is this just moaning for the sake of moaning?

@@Mash-Up777 I think it’s only an issue because reviewers don’t own and actually live with the cars and therefore never get use to it. Any new car is distracting until you learn your way around things, whether physical buttons or otherwise. Also most offer shortcuts and customisable dashboards that once setup makes it straight forward as can be. A button is a button; whether real or fake. Learning where it is will always take some time. It sounds a bit like old people complaining when phones first went all touchscreen all over again.

It's baffling that you're not allowed to drive while operating your mobile phone but can drive while operating a giant phone-like contraption on the dash. The honest truth is that you have to go through menus and sub-manus to perform the most mundane tasks like turning on the a/c or changing radio stations. Buttons make more sense from a safety point of view because they're more intuitive and as a result a lot of tasks can be performed without taking your eyes off the road.

Great review haha S/O to our guest Luke for the commentry🤣. I think for me the Chinese cars do offer more than what the old guard are offering at the same price point. That a lot of extra and nice to have's for the price. its sleek and modern(i do agree via the button vs touch aspect for certain functions) I do get your concern in terms of resale however, maybe you may not need to even resell it to be honest- provided it lives long like 10 years type of thing. Then again a 7 year old VW may also not look that great at resale. The Spare wheel situation I'm not too mad about. I think luggage wise you could make it work or use the rear seat section for the excess. i had black one behind me today and it looked great🤩

And at times, most of the features are on the left panel of the screen, so you really have to take your eyes from the road and reach out to the screen. The J7 screen over there is white? Can a user change it to something dark, maybe? I can imagine driving at night with a white screen flashing at you 🤷🏽‍♂️

If quality is an issue, they aren't going to last long as it will destroy the 2nd hand market......but do feel the Chery brand has passed that mark! Wonder if that sunroof takes 5 pushes of a button to open it full like my tiggo 8 🙄. Chinese are taking over....hopefully there's no 8 year old in sweat shops making parts . I just don't know how they can do it....for half the price. A third 🧐 maybe... My 1st Tiggo 8 1.6 had Chinese voodoo in that motor I tell you. The performance was unreal.
