Torture Testing! Jaecoo J7 Taken Off-Road |

Nascent brand Jaecoo is certainly keeping the buzz alive around its incoming J7 SUV, now proving its mettle off the beaten track. Underlining its off-road capability, the media were taken out to Semenyih's M4TREC facility to see what these cars can do out in the wild and, spoiler alert, it's better than any of us really expected.

Jaecoo says they're doing their best - all the cars at today's event are literally all the J7s in Malaysia, with a few more CBU models on the way. CKD operations will be starting soon ahead of launch, so hopefully we get to sample the J7 before then!

nice review one more test to add for the next time... try opening and closing the door when on 2 wheels on the frame twister course. that will show how rigid the frame is. should sell well in West Malaysia where they tend to need offroad more

The Lidar Radar sensor is under front plate number. Is it still work with all the dirts?

It's a radar sensor, not lidar. And yes, it works fine as long as it isn't mud or something solid.

Sorry, there were supposed to be subtitles there. Essentially the AC was switched off to avoid air being drawn into the HVAC system during the 550mm wading test. We don't usually wade that deep, so this was a first for us.

Want to turn off aircon used to be a click of a button or turning the knob. Now it's more complicated.
