JD's Garage DIY CNC plasma cutter at around $500 to build (plus the plasma cutter of your choice) would be the best bang for the buck. But, if you want to buy this one it seems like it would take 1st place in the already complete category.

I bought the Crossfire XL, Z-Axis kit, water table, laptop stand, and limit switch kit back in June. I haven't done as much as I'd like with it yet, mostly due to time constraints. I did make a couple mods, like dimpling the drain fitting so the drain is actually the lowest point in the table, taking a 12 gallon Home Despot HDX tote and plumbing a 120V solenoid into the drain along with a 220 GPH garden pump. This allows me to drain the table when I'm not using it and also refill it from the tote (I don't have a water source in that shop, so I have to carry down a couple gallons of water every so often). The pump sits about 1.5" above the bottom, so any of the solids settle out and don't get pumped back up into the table. Also put a little Physan 20 in the water to prevent mold and crap growing. I haven't had any issues with the table itself. The Langmuir Forum is also a great resource, with lots of very helpful and friendly people.

That sounds like a nice setup. Id love to get the XR. Trying to get langmuir to send one for all the free advertising but i doubt they will.

I’d like a Pro or XR myself. The XL has a 25.3 x 33.3 cut area, which is enough for most of my projects. The real issue is that I don’t have the space for a larger table :(. I also did get the machine torch mount option. The way the handheld torch mounts seems a little janky.

Like the wheels. I put a shelf on mine for the plasma cutter then rolled it back into my shop and the small transition gap at the door bent the stock wheel. The added weight did it, but I would describe the wheel posts as tough as butter.

The table and plasma cutter deal is sweet but there are other things you MUST have. A computer capable of operating the software, knowledge of how to use the software, and a large enough air compressor to run the plasma cutter all the way through the program without stopping. I read if you lose air pressure the cutting stops but the travel does not and resuming the cut was not possible. Just some points of interest. I want one real bad but i dont have the funds for everything to make it functional. Big investment but as you said, can pay you back very fast.

I'm on the verge of ordering the smaller table (but with the XL upgrades) - It's actually kind of hard to find decent reviews of the smaller table, but I'd have to consider that the quality is same as the Pro version you have here. I also figured, if I wanted a larger table in the future I could build it out of the parts from the smaller table... I'll def use your code when I pull the trigger. Good stuff

@Nicholas-im8bd
@Nicholas-im8bd 9 ай бұрын
I avoided the smaller table due to one side of the x gantry just dangling with no support on one side. That's ridiculous . I also not super giddy about the bearings and lead screws. But it is difficult to put quality stuff together for these tables for that kind of money. I have a gantry CNC I built with linear bearings and ball screws.. cheaper stuff.... And good steppers and stepperr drivers (all this way better than langmuir hardware) and spent $3500 in parts

From my experience, the software doesnt know the size so its up to you to make sure it will fit on the table. So your not limited to any dimensions.
