It’s been a long time since the Lexus LX has been totally revamped. The all-new LX 600 is more powerful, better planted in corners and runs with a strong all-new architecture with roots shared with the Tundra pickup. And there’s a new Ultra Luxury model that offers those in back massaging seats and entertainment choices. It’s not without its compromises though. @@thomastalks3841 the 360 camera is very poor quality, the center stack is somewhat of a disaster (plus the tacked on screen), the gauge cluster and molding around it look very cheap, no panoramic roof option, no massage seats for driver/front passenger... the list goes on. I imagine Lexus will add a good bit in the coming years, but for a brand new vehicle this is probably 5 years behind the US competition or more. It's wild to me that in 2022 for a newly designed $100-$125k vehicle they are still tacking on an infotainment screen to the dashboard like its new/afterthought tech on an existing model refresh from back in 2015

I just traded my 1998 lx470 for this. It had over 700k miles with little “extra” maintenance. This is what this car is for, yes it’s outdated a little but people that buy these, people like me, KEEP them for 15+ years.

Others might be more luxurious but also who(rich) cares reliability over luxurious? As the current owner of gx460 2021, i would always buy lexus over other brands for my hard earned money, if i had millions i would buy german.

Yeah, and good luck maintaining a Range Rover. People are so obsessed with brands and prestige, and forget that reliability is a form of luxury. Not worrying about break down really gives you a piece of mind and stress-free ownership experience, and to me that's real luxury. I always compare car ownership to having a girlfriend, would you like having bitchy 10, or a pleasant 8?

Aside from a chauffeur situation, this is perfect for going on cross-country road trips. It would work wonders for rest if you could have drivers swap regularly and be able to get real rest in the back seats. Ironically, it would be great for a particular kind of fast-paced film crew that regularly needs to move around but also have a really comfy camera car.

Hey Tom, great review as always! I love a lot of things about this luxury SUV, one thing I dislike is the frequent stops at the gas station which will ruin the luxury experience. A PHEV set up with at least 40+ miles EV range will fit this SUV better just like the Range Rover without the reliability issues.

Tom, I agree with you, selling the 200 Series Land Cruiser for virtually the same price as the LX was a 'no-brain' error. Having said that, why should other markets get access to the basic $60,000 Land Cruiser 300 while we in North America are denied the opportunity? Like every other TNGA redesign, the rear seat headroom in the LX seems to have dropped. I hope Toyota does not pull the same trick with the next GX, 4Runner and Prado. To end on my own 'Unfun' fact: The last Matrix Toyota sold had more headroom than this Ultra Luxury behemoth🤨

@@youtubecarspottersguide1 All I wanted was the LC 200 with 4.0 V6, 5 Speed manual, cloth seats and steel wheels. Was that asking too much ? In the 300 Series they still offer the 4.0 V6 but it is paired with a 6 speed automatic . You can get the new ones with locking rear, center and front differentials for lots of traction in sticky situations.

It has more to do with US tax disadvantages for vehicles not manufactured domestically LX/Landcruiser are in 38% import tax bracket since they are manufactured in Japan than imported.

@@faisalghiar The tariff on 4Runner, Lexus GX and Lexus LX and other Japanese built cars is around 2-3%. Only pickup trucks or vans lacking a back seat would be subject to a higher rate usually called the 'Chicken Tax' .

I would like to test drive the LX 600 in the Premium trim, but the supply is very limited here in the DFW area. When the dealer actually gets one in, it has already been sold. Lexus supply remains extremely tight.

Great review. I've been seeing some hype about the cooler in the center console, I'm not sure how some people think it's luxury in 2023 while my 1994 land cruiser came with a cooler and ice maker from factory! Lexus will outlast all other luxury SUVs out there but still the price doesn't add up.

One of my technicians has LX600 4 seater, said it cost him $140000, and went to Las Vegas for New Years and the traffic was all backed up on the way there. On the map he noticed a road on the right but it said not paved. He said time to try it out. He said he was going 70 waving at the people on the freeway.

My 2021 4Runner TRD Pro was $57k out the door. I can’t see $70k more in the luxury or the features of this car. MPG are about the same. The windshield wiper on the rear is better than the one on the 4Runner that is tucked under the rear spoiler which does not work well at all.

It's really refreshing to see an actual new product from Lexus, but it's not worth that price. It seems like it merely catches up to the class, not leading it in any way. Infotainment is still slow and features are missing. When is Lexus going to debut something state of the art? It's really nice truck though, and I still like the old one.

Having owned a GV80 Prestige for a year…. Genesis is JUNK! In fact, we replaced it with a 2022 Lexus RX350 and although style and performance are a yawn…. the ride comfort and reliability have been miles ahead in the Lexus. No regrets!

I’ve heard a couple reviewers mention it being on the manufacturers; giving out fully-loaded (or close to) cars so all the features are on display. You can find some base model reviews here and there if you dig enough, especially on smaller channels.
