It's because the LG V30 measures the impedance of your headset to properly drive them with enough current. Too much current can cause distortion, so LG is avoiding that. I have the V30. I use it with my car's AUX port. It sounds so good, so clear, so FUCKING loud, I no longer put the volume on max. Sometimes I feel I'm in the studio!

Please guys look into what a dac actually is... It's a DIGITAL TO ANALOG CONVERTER. A DAC is not an AMP. It will not amplify the signal, it will only output more clear audio: that's a lower noise floor, lower distortion, higher resolution. Know what to expect. For best showcase of this dac play lossless audio files with extremely high bitrates.

It is really loud though, it just detects what kind of headphones you use so it doesn't drive them too much. If you have really high impedance headphones, there should be a bigger difference

V30's preamp is never gonna be able to do a 300-600 Ohm justice, unfortunately. These (HD 650's owner here) require a dedicated amp to do the job, and require at least 600 mW pumped into them to sound as they should, and I'm not even talking about volume on its own, my FiiO E11K was able to bring my cans even to a painful listening volume on some songs, but it just doesn't sound nearly as good as the Schiit Valhalla does!

There is an EASY way to "trick it" into going into the louder amp mode w/o the need for a higher impedance headphone. Just use a female 3.5mm to male 3.5mm adapter cable (6" is best)............plug that in first into the phone, then plug your headphones into the female end of the adapter, and you'll see it goes from Normal mode to Aux mode, which is 20% LOUDER. High Impedance mode is the loudest, but if you need it THAT loud that means you must have high impedance headphones already, so just plug those in and it will be fine.

Bit of false information in your video. The V30 does have a much higher volume but you need a high impedance 50+ Ohms Headphones to activate this mode. The V30 has a DAC that can power up to 600 Ohms headphones.

I'm using a 60 ohms headphone with my v30+ on a daily usage. Hearing it at 50-60 audio level is already loud! Anything beyond that for me is too too loud! So yeah.. 50+ ohms headphones are the way to go. With a lower ohms earphones or headphones, then perhaps you can listen to max volume.

Lewis Mackay Well, the DAC does work on every type of headphone. The difference is the quality but the Dac mode certainly does work with all of them. Jim's workhouse (powerhouse?) did a good test of this.

I had major issues with mine on stock 7.0 such as overheating while playing music and 2 hour battery life. It was so bad I rooted and flashed Oreo (first lineage, then sick Oreo) which so far is doing phenomenal (thermals are way better and battery lasts all day, and along with proper screen calibration that virtually completely cancels screen retention. (Mk2000 kernel and kernel aduitor, set RGB babies down some) Once tweaked and fixed, it's actually pretty good, the way it should have been... as for OEM stock (never rooted) it's hot (literal) garbage. At least on the h910 variant. I still love the cameras though, loved it since I inherited it. I'm only rooting just for the fixes and vipers audio.

I don't know what sort of witch cauldron AT&T sends their phones to, but based from other users' experience they always seem to screw up great phones with bloatware and unnecessary tweaking. The LG V20 (and probably V30) recognises what headphones you have connected, and adjusts the power output accordingly. It can drive some rather demanding headphones at high volumes. I've connected my Beyerdynamic DT990 Pro with 250 Ohm to a Xiaomi Mi6 with supplied USB-C audio adapter, and at full volume it's at normal volume, and the sound is ok. But the V20 goes way beyond that. The sound is better, fuller, and they go much, much louder. Louder than anyone should be listening to music to. I don't think there's any other phone (apart from the V series) that can drive these headphones properly. I think the V20 might even be able to drive the 600 Ohm DT990 (most headphones are below 50 Ohm).

kada jawi the v20 drives the dt880 600ohm loud at 50-60 and can get to loud for my own comfort higher than that, but when I switch to a dedicated dac/amp that can put out 4 watts and 8 volts even at lower volumes the dt880 is much more punchy and dynamic than when on the v20. I still like listening on the v20 it's the only phone I've ever heard that can get enough volume out of power hungry headphones but still it does not replace a dedicated dac and amp. The akg k240 monitor is also 600ohm but less efficient and the v20 can not get them up to a listenably loud volume or even the k340 at 400ohms.

I'm still using my LG V30+ in 2020. It's so underrated and it's such a good phone. SD 835 is still very capable in 2020, able to play pubg in smooth+extreme graphic setting and cod mobile in high+max frame rate graphic settings. 3360 mAh albeit not the biggest battery capacity, I can still get an SoT of around 6-7 hrs with some light gaming. There's no notch, making the video viewing/gaming experience a bit more wonderful. The camera and speaker is decent. and there's still the headphone jack. Overall a really good phone, and still relevant for 2020 imo

Jose Sanchez I was using the V20 because of the Note 7 fiasco and I have to admit I really liked the phone. I was quite surprised at how well it ran. If it weren’t for the fact that I really love the Spen, I would’ve stayed with the V20. I loved that second screen. I used it way more than I use the edge. I gave it to my father (not very tech savvy) and he likes it a lot more than his Samsung that he had before. He finds it easier to use. I’m just really hoping LG doesn’t keep following the heard. I really thought they were going to be the only manufacturer that had a removable battery. Since I am a big Spen fan. I hope they come out with Note competition. They have the Stylo which unfortunately isn’t there yet because it’s not even a premium phone, but I thought they were the closest to get there. I’m hoping that maybe after seeing how well Samsung did with the Note 8 maybe they will take a chance at it. I was so disappointed how Samsung handled the Note 7 fiasco that I tried 3 different styluses with the V20 to try and create a comparable device, but I just couldn’t get there. It wasn’t even close because the Spen is not jus5 a stylus it’s so much more. It really is unbelievable and I don’t think people realize until they’ve tried it. I’ve gotten so much business for Samsung just by people trying my phone. I would love it if another Android would come out with competition. They all copy each other so much. I’m just shocked that there hasn’t been an attempt other than this Stylo (which like I said poor attempt). Maybe since this was Samsung’s most successful launch, it will happen soon.

The beauty of this is, you can use 300-600 ohm high quality headphones which you would need an external dac/amp for with any other phone. With headphones bellow 32Ohm(almost all standard mobile headphones) you won't hear any difference at all. The quad dac activates automatically.

As someone who was looking forward to this phone a lot I'd have to disagree. Point and shoot (as in on Auto settings) the image might be placed in the 4th category when you're comparing it to the Note 8, Pixel 2 XL and the iPhone X. I know that the main focus where it should shine the most would be in its manual camera tweaking but even after you've set all your numbers right the image isn't THAT better compared to in auto. Imo the V30's best selling feature would be in the video department.

I have an LG G6. Love it. The wide angle camera is a game changer and probably an underrated feature of these phones. When I come back from a vacation and compare the photo's I took compared to my girlfriend's S8 (which makes great photo's) it really shows just how much more dramatic and complete your shots are of the scenery and places you encounter. You will only use the regular lens for very specific shots and the wide lens becomes the default.

I agree, I have an LG V30, I came from a ZTE Axon 7 which also had a quad dac, a lower bit rate (28 vs 32). Even with the same headphones, the clarity of the LG is amazing. It's almost surreal, no distortian at all, and plenty of customisation with the built in EQ. My literal only thing I miss about my old phone is the front firing speakers, those things are amazing and basically eliminate the need for bluetooth speakers...

If its the same system as the LG v20 then his headphones might not have registered the "High impedance mode" as it only comes on when connected to devices over 30 ohms. Thats when the full amplifier kicks in otherwise I believe its restricted to one DAC.

Vikas Poonia I'm an audiophile and I disagree 100% with you. I'm also a musician, producer and sound engineer of 30 years to add. If you can tell the difference in audio intricacy between a Flac file and an MP3 file then your compression software is terrible and cheap. I create mp3 files with Reaper compression addons and get incredible sound. But as a producer, I have to have top of the line software for recording and finalizing. Truth be told, if one is to argue about how uncompressed and uncompromised music should be by one who considers themselves a music fanatic then NO COMPRESSION is the answer. Not partial compression. Therefore WAV format would be the statement to make. However, the human ear can pickup lots of variation in frequencies but the difference between a 320kbps bitrate mp3 and a FLAC file is not noticeable unless the compression was done terribly by a horrible process (cheap software or an incapable computer ie: weak proc, minuscule amount of ram or lack of disk space to allocate).

On a short note, DAC only truly amplifies sound with high-impendance(OHM resistance) headphones. It should work out with 64 OHM headphones, standard 32 ohm might be just the same and limited there to maintain normal level.

That's not what a dac does. A dac is a digital to analog converter. When you're referring to high impedance mode, that's a setting on the amplifier circuit which just increases gain, not quality.

I have had this device for about 6 months and could not be happier with it. I have owned galaxies (s7 edge and s8) and Iphone 8 plus, but have to say that this device offers the best overall user experience. From the IP rating, to the high PPI, and the wireless charging capabilities, and especially tge camera. It is fast and can hang with the quickest premium devices out there today, but now comes in at half the cost. Two thumbs way up for the LG V30!!!

hi Cee Navy I swear ever since I switched I have not had any a headache I mean it has been hard at the beginning I had to get a new I phone cause of the (i message) but at the same time I have my v30 and now I use my LGV30 more than my i phone so I don't miss I phone I have been using the LG V30 since January and I used every single day sometimes when I'm ain't driving I take the subway and first thing I do, is play heavy game on the LG v30 so here one of the reasons why I switched I used to be an apple fan since I phone (2 gen) so as you can imagine it was difficult to switch .. one of the reason why I switched the damn charge my i phonex battery drained fast sometimes the screen was freezed most the time when it was cold and the headphone lightning adaptor it was terrible I could buy those only from apple 2) my co workers were using android and the was only one chager but guess what ! while my phone was getting charge their phones were fully charged and the LGV30 rear camera is awesome now front camera is no good but rear camera is the best ! one of the features you can record with both camera at the same time! plus voice recognition and so if you don't want to touch your phone just talk to it and it will do what you command it to

And study it's hardwares specs few thing important on smart phones is the (RAm) (battery) (processors) ( features ) so I'm not selling the v30 but I acknowledge that is better than the X also bear in mind the back glass on the iphone X can not be repair by any phone store but apple even thought they refused to repair my friends iphone x back glass ! So ne aware of those things and keep in mind lgv30 resist more water than iphone x so do a research before taking a decision thanks

its underrated definitely and its now a very good bargain if you can get one. I just bought one online, an imported Korean phone brand new for USD 250, much less than half its introductory price. I love it especially the quad DAC. I don't have to use my Fiio Headphone DAC anymore its troublesome to connect and have control of your phone at the same time. I am not much of a camera man or play game with my phone except Candy Crush so it's a great phone for me as I love music. Its solid and durable too with a good lasting battery. What more can you ask.

Phone Daft I didn't have the g6 before, I had a crappy moto g and this phone is about five hundred times better, the UI is amazing and everything is so smooth. The camera is outstanding but is a little confusing at first. There are so many modes and options it takes a little getting used to but it really is good.

The wide angled lense is definitly a plus, but I was honestly hoping for more. Also sometimes it seems blurred and sometimes the light and dark balance is aweful (one thing is light whilst the other is in total darkness and the other way around).

Its been several years since this smartphone is announced and i waited for so long so i can gather money and time to get it, since its not available in my country, and now that i finally got me one, i cant describe how happy i am. Maybe Samsung makes better smartphones, Huawei is there too fighting for its fans and i didn't have had much of them flagships or any extra expensive smartphones, even tho i tried with Samsung "A" series, even S8 and Huawei P20 Mate, but V30 will be by far, the best phone i ever hold in my hands. LG still tries its best and i say is very, veeeery underrated. And im terribly sorry that my V10 burned its motherboard, was a great one too... :/

Everything that he's raving about was already on the LG G5 (Fingerprint sensor on the power button and the way that it functions, two camera's for normal and wide angle, etc). Just lets you know that this guy isn't really on his stuff. G5 was easily one of the most underrated phone's in recent years. Also, DAC on the headphone jack was also on the V20, if I recall correctly. LG is so underrated lol.

I know the Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus is the best phone for me and one of my friends I knew a Samsung would be best for him but I suggested the Samsung Galaxy S8 Note and he got an S8 Plus instead and in a couple of months he ended up selling it and getting the Note 8 lol and another friend of mine knowing the features that were important to her I suggested she should check out the Google Pixel 2 and she checked out some different phones and then told me that the Google Pixel 2 is the phone she thinks she will most likely get when she upgrades and I told her that I figured that was the case based on what kind of features she wants, sure I could push the S8 Plus on her and try and sell her on it but even though I love it and it's the best phone for me I know it's not for her! So yeah check out a variety of phones cuz there are a bunch of really nice ones out now and find the one that suites you best! 😉
