One of the reasons I went with the Canon m50 over Sony A6300 & other competitors was the flip-out screen and in-camera autofocus/image stabilization combo.
@YourMajesty1434 жыл бұрын
One of the reasons I went with the Canon m50 over Sony A6300 & other competitors was the flip-out screen and in-camera autofocus/stabilization combo. Also, I was told none of the ef-m lenses can resolve the newer 32.5 megapixels --- even the sharpest prime lens of 32mm is unable to handle it --- so I'm not seeing the benefit for upgrading just yet. As for the higher choice of shots during quick-bursts, you can't use the silent shooting mode which is a serious limitation for wildlife or sports photography. Also, don't forget that both m50 and m6mkii have shutter actuations of 10,000. So just like car mileage, the higher the shutter is used, the more mileage you're putting on your camera & the more likely the camera is to malfunction with wear & tear. This is why I refuse to buy used cameras, especially if I'd prefer to reserve shutter counts for timelapse. The minimum 1/30s shutter speed isn't a big deal for me since I already own an external intervalometer for longer exposures. If you need to capture a quick moving object, then just increase your shutter speed. Simple. I know of people who rely on quick-bursts as a crutch to capture good photos bc they haven't been willing to try to learn the photography skill of timing your shot. It's a good skill to learn whether you're an amateur or pro ☺

Top notch content upload once again. I rented the a6400 after watching your review and though I love the af, the limited touch functionality is a deal breaker for me. My question is, will the 22mm with the viltrox speed booster be wide enough to vlog and will it bring out the superior image quality of the m6 mk2 sensor. I appreciate the work you put into doing quality work. Salut

What's up brother! Thanks for all the support! The 22mm won't work with the speed booster for two reasons. 1. It's a mirrorless lens. 2. it's an aps-c lens. The speed booster only works with full frame dslr lenses. Hope that makes sense.

Hey there! Maybe a low light video both inside under “house lights” at night and perhaps outside at sunset until the image is lost. Detailing the settings as the lighting changes 👍🏻
@TechGearTalk5 жыл бұрын
Got it. Ok, so to be totally transparent, I would do my best to never shoot under those conditions. I would always add a source of light (even if it's a tiny LED) because no camera with a kit lens will give you good results. Even with a fast lens (which is what you need for that wide aperture) you'll want a source of light. I mean, I would even go as far as using my iphone flashlight if I needed to to add light. Check out this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/p2PLpGt4hLmLmJY Since it looks like you're getting serious and growing a channel, is there any chance you could invest is a small light? That will make your life so much easier. If not, you'll want to position yourself next to some outdoor light. The Kit lens is going to be a major hurdle, especially if you can't get a light source. I hope this response makes sense.

@@TechGearTalk hmm that's interesting. Between the eos r and the m6mkii, which would you choose for 4k use?

Well, it's a totally different budget. The EOS R with RF lenses is easily 3-4 times the price of the M6. Here the difference is much larger, M50 kit is 520 € and M6 II is about 1250 € (with the 15-45 lens and EVF). I bought M50 last march for 570 € including the body case and the brown strap. I love it with the exception that the clock is almost 5 seconds a day too fast (according to Canon within the specs)

Nice review. Unfortunately in Australia, Canon tend to go for the gouge on pricing with new models: The Canon M50 with kit lens can be had anywhere here, including Amazon for $750. Unfortunately, if you add the EVF to the M6Mk2, it lists at $1460. The Nikon Z50 with lens is $1450 and the Sony a6400 with lens is $1350. So right now and considering the lack of integrated EVF and outrageous pricing, the Canon is not competitive. If Canon put a proper EVF in and dropped the price to $1200, it starts to be competitive.

@TechGearTalk4 жыл бұрын
Hi Troy. My goal is not to convince you that one camera is right for you over another. I also accept that things are not the same for everyone. To some, when you look at body, lenses, batteries, SD cards, support, lighting, gimbal, slider, etc. the $270 price difference is not a deal breaker. That goes up to $470 if you have to pay for the EVF. Finally, in different countries, the prices are different. Someone just told me today that where they live the M6MKII is 2.5x the price. Thanks for contributing to the community.
@IamTROY154 жыл бұрын
Tech Gear Talk I get what you’re saying. So In different regions the price difference isn’t as drastic, but where I’m at the M6 Is double the price of the M50 so it feels unfair to compare the 2 just when there’s such an enormous price difference. Personally I shoot on the M50 so I will admit that I’m probably a little biased, but for the price there aren’t too many cameras that compare. I personally think that it is one of the best most consumer friendly mirrorless cameras for that price. But that’s just me. @@TechGearTalk Sorry, yes, the xt200 is a huge improvement to the xt100, of course. I wonder whether that makes the xt200 a contender to the M6II. Or maybe Canon does not have an M-camera that can be compared to the xt200 at the moment.

Sagi you’re killing it with these videos. I have watched an unhealthy amount of your reviews and comparisons. I still can’t decide which camera. I’m down to 3 right now the X-T30, M6 Mark II and a6400. Now my purpose is going to be mostly traveling and pictures of my dog being a Tasmanian Devil. Not a lot of videos will be happening. Any additional insights or opinions on this choice would be very helpful. Thanks!

Thanks so much Daniel! What you said "unhealthy amount" I was 😂🤣 Get the a6400 because of the animal eye auto-focus (watch today's video to see a real-life example with the a6600 - same af system for dogs) Let me know if you have followup questions.

Tech Gear Talk thanks so much. I ended up buying two cameras. I bought the a6400 for me and the X-T30 for my wife. My wife loves car races she is always going to events from drag races to Indy car. I thought the small size and 30fps burst mode would be very helpful. I am a little disappointed that the crane m2 gimbal doesn’t support Fuji shutter or zoom.

Hi Kasey. If you plan on shooting in 1080p, the M50 is plenty good. If you want 4K, then the M6mkii is the way to go. I would invest in lenses over a body if I had to choose. So for live streaming, the M6ii allows HDMI out, CLEAN SIGNAL, and AUTOFOCUS? Both 1080p and 4K? Just confirming. That may be the one I need then. Was looking at the M50 but not having a clean signal via HDMI was a no go though there are workarounds using USB and other software. Thanks.

That is correct. The M6MKII is what you want if you plan on using it for streaming. It will make your life SO MUCH easier.

@@TechGearTalkThanks a million for your reply. Just subscribed. All I want is to stream 1080p with with the Sigma 16mm f1.4. Which Canon would be the lowest cost that I can get away with via clean HDMI? Would it be the M6MKII? The crazy thing is that I'm also considering the Sony 20 f1.8 with an Alpha body but that's a whole different price range. (I am starting to stream hours teaching and will do so for many years to come as I work for a non-profit organization and think I want to set up a very relaxed and pleasant environment for the viewer.) Thanks again for you excellent videos. Clear, direct, well informed, superb production qualities etc.

dude all these features for this camera are great and all, but it's much more expensive than the m50, and it's too much for a beginner to learn with when they are trying to get into the hobby/profession. it's discouraging to the max with all these features that this camera does over the budget m50.... 4k takes up too much data, most computers in homes on average don't run editing for 4k very well due to the high data rate and the high demand in specs for the cpu's in average homes, some people that are interested into photography aren't going to jump right into the bandwagon of 4k because they are trying to learn the ins and outs of the art, and most people can't afford such a high-end piece and would feel like it's an obligation to the craft due to the high cost. the kit lens with a viewfinder costing over 1k for a camera that does all the stuff that the m50 (in 1080p, for stills) does when it has a kit lens, viewfinder, and other appliances from amazon that are kits such as: mini-tripod, small-tripod, 3 filters (CPL, UV, FLO), extra batteries, charger, wrist strap, carrying case, sd card, sd card reader, flash attachment, microfiber cloth, air duster, and pen brush for $699 and that INCLUDES the camera and the kit lens! I'm not mad or upset, but I am just a little perplexed at the cost of what you are getting. with another 400 or 500 bucks. not worth it imho

Hello, I currently have a canon 80d which is too heavy for hiking. I am about to go on the hiking trip of a lifetime and need a smaller camera. I will be doing mostly landscape photos with some sweeping short videos. I build calendars off of them and need to produce mostly small-medium size photos and rarely 10x12 photos. I also occasionally do astrophotography. I am torn because of price. I love sharp* images BUT I love the articulating screen of the M50. My question is with a good lens, can both produce large nice landscape photos(that large)? and which lenses would you recommend(kit, canon, vs sigma)? I shoot in RAW and would like to take only one or 2 good lenses with me as weight is a big factor on long hikes. I appreciate your videos and recommendations! Thanks. Sheri

Thanks for the videos, really helps a me. What’s your recommendation for a all-day affordable EF lens (incl. vlogging & livestream) - with speedbooster on a M6 it should be brilliant for every situation even 4K. Or I’m wrong?
@TechGearTalk4 жыл бұрын
Glad you like the video. Quick question, why do you want an EF lens with a speedbooster rather than a EF-M lens? There are great options, but they will make your setup larger. Check out these lenses for EF-M: kzbin.info/www/bejne/q4C1hWSam8qGZq8 and some great EF lenses: kzbin.info/www/bejne/i4azop2GqJp8rZo (I use the sigma 18-35 the most) Hope this helps and welcome to the channel!
@horst-saiger4 жыл бұрын
Tech Gear Talk I thought with the speed booster the lenses get even better!? Almost full frame with the speed booster and more light as well... if I got it right it makes from f2.8 a 2.0 ... or something like that? Am I wrong?
@TechGearTalk4 жыл бұрын
You are not wrong, they do widen the angle of view and the amount of light, but you pay for it in terms of size/weight/slight decrease in image quality. So the question is, would you rather have the sigma f/1.4 with a much smaller setup (and a wider aperture), or the full-frame lens at a higher cost. What will you be shooting? That sigma 18-35 or a 24-70 f/2.8 are great options for sure. Hope this discussion is helpful.

As I jump from different cameras during the production will video footage be noticeably different?? If so, I imagine I should stick with the same camera models

Hi Mark - good question. First question to you, why three different cameras? If you shoot in the same picture style with all three (ex. EOS Standard) it will look similar enough to where you won't notice - but back to the original, why three different cameras?

When downscaled to 1080p the quality is amazing. People saying that it's not "as crisp" as other cameras (which use full sensor readout) is "technically" true. However, It's extremely and I value color and ease of use over the slightly less crisp footage. Hope that makes sense.
