Demise doesn’t exist in the sword anymore, he was put in the sword to decay in the past, then the Triforce wish in the present completely destroyed him. The entire point of the curse is that his hatred exists independently of him and takes the form of every demon. You’d have to destroy every demon, and also stop people from turning into them through malice.

or maybe its possible to stop the curse is with the wish of the triforce but only link from skyward sword knows of the curse and so does fi
@geianimari654 жыл бұрын
Oh yeah, about that, I strongly believe that there is an incoherence in Skyward Sword about the Emprisonned and the time travel. Just so we're clear, the Emprisonned IS Demise sealed by goddess Hylia. The goddess sealed him knowing it was a temporary solution, and vowed to reincarnate as a mortal to use the Triforce to destroy him definitely. Through the game, Ghirahim tries to kidnap Zelda to use her divine essence to free Demise from the seal of the Emprisonned, until Link uses the Triforce as planned by Hylia, making Ghirahim's plan impossible. So he kidnaps Zelda anyway and brings her to the past, at a distant point where Demise was already sealed in the form of the Emprisonned, and uses her as he planned to free him. Then Link KILLS Demise, and he seals his remanings into the Master Sword, but does NOT seal him back into the Emprisonned. So in the future of this point in time, the Emprisonned doesn't exist anymore, so it can't be the past of Link and Zelda's present because the Emprisonned still exists in here. So my point is, I genuinely believe that two different timelines were created at this point, but Hylia, who had foreseen this possibility, left instructions to Fay and Impa to do so no one finds out about it. Which has generally nothing to do with the video, but yeah, it was about the Emprisonned being linked to Demise's hate into the Master Sword : both don't exist at the same time in the same timeline. Sorry about that long comment. Have a nice day!

You're theory certainly seems plausible, but don't forget there's another way the curse could possibly be destroyed. We know a complete Triforce is capable of granting any wish for those who obtain it, whether the intention is "good" or "evil". So I totally think it's possible for Link to somehow obtain the complete Triforce, and wish for Demise's hatred to be wiped off the face of existence for eternity. Though I believe this definitely could happen, one pressing issue I've noticed with this theory is the fact that no Link following the original hero are actually aware of the curse's existence. Even if they know their being reincarnated over and over again, I don't think any of them are educated on the idea their being reincarnated because of a curse set in-stone by a great demon millennia ago, please correct me if I'm wrong.
@FeroxDeitas4 жыл бұрын
And that's where Fi enters the stage, somehow breaking free from the Master Sword and explaining EVERYTHING that happened all those millenia ago. Thus informing Link and Zelda how to break the curse once and for all. And BOOM, you got the perfect ending of a franchise. There's a theory in Majora's Mask that Termina's link (the Fierce Deity, as Termina's link is missing) was also sealed within Majora's Mask in an attempt to stop the cycle of evil. Link destroys the Mask without the Master sword, stopping Termina's cycle. Also Majora is likely Termina's Demise, the entity and in a literal sense, moreso a avatar of him, much like Ganon is. So this theory could hold a lot of water, albeit a theory is not proof for a theory, but at least it's some thing to think about.
@ReelBigC4 жыл бұрын
I like the theory that Kafei is Link's parallel character personally but yours is interesting too. Perhaps as a result of the cycle being broken as you've suggested in Termina none of the titular characters really reincarnate so they vaguely represent their Hyrule counter parts. I.e. Link ends up more or less a regular dude, if a little braver and adventurous than the average Joe from never having never inherited the "spirit of the hero. Zelda doesn't even exist as she remains in her Goddess/Hylia form and embodies a Time Goddess Link converses with after getting the Ocarina back. Ganon, or whoever might have been him never emerges as the threat of the land because Demise's curse doesn't affect them from being "properly" defeated/sealed or whatever at the battle of Majora vs. Fierce Diety.

a theory I've been thinking for a while : so in skyward sword, demise's sword has the inverted triforce and he came from a crack in the earth, which then proves that demise came from lorule, he was probably searching for the power of the gods for his own, but the Royale family of lorule destroyed it, lead to him to find another triforce in another world, hyrule. after the events of a link between worlds, the triforce was restored to lorule, will that be the reason of demise's curse to weaken ? idk hope he sees this and maybe rectify it or something
@roaringthunder1154 жыл бұрын

I was running on that the demise curse brought about Gannon, and Gannon stole the triforce fusing or embedding his soul? Spirt? Hatred? To the triforce of power with link and zeldas ancestors with knowledge and courage respectively. This is why they are stuck in the loop.
@theendersmirk58514 жыл бұрын
@@TheFluff89 I recently replayed Skyward Sword, and the way it is described, it sounds like it wasn't "Demise's curse" so much as the curse of which Demise was made from. The way he describes it isn't the way you say that you do something, so much as the way you describe an already existing effect. The way he phrases it, it implies to me that the curse was what caused his existence, that he was an instance in the cycle, and that he was giving fair warning to a worthy opponent that he has entangled his reincarnations with that cycle. It feels especially so if you read the Japanese version of it. Demise is a being composed of hatred for the gods of their world, and he was warning Link that now the reincarnations of his heroic spirit, and those of the bloodline of the goddess, would now become entangled with the reincarnations of the hatred for the gods for all Time.
@benjaminshields94214 жыл бұрын
Inverted triforce + wording of crack in the earth gives a correlation, but not solid proof. And didnt hilda break her own triforce, millenia later? And wouldnt that mean Demise would have to straight up time travel? And now if he does time travel, we have to assume two different things. But if he does time travel, why not just time travel to a time without the Hero? Plus, Lorule's restored triforce doesnt weaken Ganon or Demise, it just gives Lorule strength.

Demise: Eternal curse yadda yadda Yt'rs: End of the cycle ...
@austinbruggeman90644 жыл бұрын
I find it more likely that breaking the Master Sword would release Demise, not destroy him, assuming he does still exist within the blade. Consider the situation in Hyrule Warrior. In that game (even though it's not technically canon, Link taking the Master Sword from the Temple of Time released the last fragment of Ganondorf's shattered spirit. The same thing happens in one of the Four Swords games (I don't remember which one) where Link is tricked into drawing the Four Sword, thus releasing Vaati. Also consider that Demise's curse forces both his hatred and the soul of the Hero to forever be reincarnated alongside the descendants of Hylia (Zelda). Even if Demise were removed from the curse, Link would still reincarnate and Zelda's (Hylia's) bloodline would continue to possess sacred power, but without evil to give them purpose... or they'd never reincarnate at all because there is no evil for them to fight. The bigger problem that I see in this is that breaking the cycle would remove the need for the hero, which means the end of the Zelda timeline. No more Zelda games.
@Vgy15924 жыл бұрын
Another point relating to the Four Sword to bring up is tha'... IIRC, I believe the sword from Minish Cap is *also* the Four Sword? In Minish Cap, there are no monsters until Vaati breaks the sword, and then it had to be re-forged to defeat Vaati with. Vaati breaking the sword was what released all the monsters. At one point, I had thought this may have been how Demise's curse was actually released -- Minish Cap being the next game in the timeline after Skyward Sword -- but I was reminded these are separate swords. Still, it makes me wonder if, perhaps, that was the intended lore, in having Demise sucked into the master sword, and they just slipped up on that bit of lore. Regardless, I can't imagine breaking the master sword going much differently.
@CorraThaxton4 жыл бұрын
Ending Demise's curse wouldn't necessarily mean no more reincarnations for Link or Hylia through Zelda's bloodline, just means that another villain could rise, one not bound by Demise's persisting malice. Besides, there's a full on demonic realm he and others came from.
@elitegamer93104 жыл бұрын
To be fair, Fi said that the essence of Demise will decay in the Master Sword. So Demise is truly dead by now. The point of this curse is that even in death, Demise's hatred endures, and that hatred will manifest no matter what. The Master Sword isn't even part of the curse. It plays a role in the cycle, but it exist outside of the curse, as there are games where Ganon is not defeated with the Master Sword. The reason why the Master Sword loses its power from time to time is because that's just what happens as time goes on. The Master Sword is a powerful weapon and a divine relic, but it's ancient, the blade is tens of thousands of years old, maybe even older. It's just natural that in between the events of these games, the all that time and neglect will cause it to lose some power.

@@SPKotN Wouldn't the spirit of the Goddess work exactly the same way though? I mean, what ties Zelda in Skyward Sword to the Goddess, blood or the spirit? She's literally Hylia's reincarnation, so I'd say it's the second. In which case she'd probably simply be reborn again if the royal bloodline was wiped out
@SPKotN4 жыл бұрын
James Hakai it’s the Blood of the Goddess for Zelda, as every Zelda has been descended from the Skyward Sword Zelda, including Tetra, and ALttP Zelda, and every Zelda that came after them. SS Zelda is the direct reincarnation of Hylia, yes, but she’s the *only* reincarnation of Hylia. There is only one timeline where Link has descendants, and that’s the Child Timeline. In both other timelines, he has none, either because he died (Fallen), or he disappeared - because he was sent back to live out his childhood (Adult). Hylia reincarnating for a second time makes no sense if the curse is broken, as she did so to ensure the Triforce was safe *from* Demise, and due to the wording of the curse, Demise *needs* “those with the Blood of the Goddess, and the Spirit of the Hero” in order for his hatred to manifest. Don’t get me wrong, Ganondorf still has to be completely destroyed in this scenario, mind, body, and soul. No more sealing. No more resurrection. Leaving Ganondorf capable of returning, with *just* the Spirit of the Hero to combat him, ends with Ganondorf victorious, utterly. We’re talking full Triforce, no one to seal him, no one to stand in his way. Remember, this is the Legend of *Zelda*, not the Legend of Link. It would be fitting that to end the curse, Zelda’s legend would also come to an end (Note: This does NOT mean the games would, at all. There are still stories alluded to that we’ve never seen - The Hero of Men Link, The Hero of Legend Link, etc.)

Here's a cool theory: It's been 10 years since Link defeated the calamity. Zelda's the queen, and Link's the Captain of the Knight's along with being Zelda's Husband Bu the yiga get a drop of Link's blood and mixes it with malice, creating dark link, then dark link beats link and kidnaps zelda and brings her to the yiga clan hideout, Link tries to save his wife but when he arrives Zelda's dead and the yiga have already poured her blood onto the body of Ganon, the blood of the goddess enrages the malice within ganon and he revives. Link tries to kill Ganon with the master sword but the blessing of the Goddess has gotten weaker and weaker everytime it's been used, and now it has entered the state it was like in the wind waker. With that ganon easily wounds link and he snaps the Master Sword in two, darkness seeps out and it all converges into Ganondorf, not only is he the pure culmination of evil, he also wields the triforce of power and wisdom... Link's friends rescue him and start running away. The resistance has been going on for a year now, and the last of the Hylian's forces are fighting against the forces of Ganon, the last of the remaining Champions Riju and Sidon have finally fallen and the forces of good are about to lose, but then Purah leads link into an ancient sheikah chamber she had just found. In that chamber is a monk and a chest. The monk gives link the ocarina of time inside the chest, and gives Link the quest to go back in time, meet up with his ancestors "the other heroes" and repair the master sword with the power of the ancient sages, and give it more power by bathing it in the same flames the goddess sword was imbued with to create not darkness sealing sword, but a sword that will destroy the darkness once and for all. Then all the links BARREL through ganon's forces in an attempt to not only save Hyrule but also destroy the cycle... Boom! There's an interesting storyline nintendo

Issue with this is that Demise started the curse, but Ganondorf getting the Triforce of Power is why he’s so strong. He broke free in Wind Waker since he was sealed with that power. Even in Twilight Princess he gained the power of the Triforce of Power after he was impaled and that’s how he broke free and killed a sage before being banished. Apparently, that power can transcend time too. Once you have that power, it will be yours in any iteration. Demise was simply the one who created the curse out of hatred, but it’s the irony of Ganondorf being blessed with the power of the gods that keeps him coming back.
@jasonspringfield48294 жыл бұрын
There's actually some evidence to support this theory in the series. Vaati, the wind mage is trapped in the four sword, and over time the seal weakens, and he gets out. He is recaptured into the sword, and then makes a puppet, shadow link, to trick link into pulling the sword to let him out. After this, vaati is killed, and then no more wind mage problem. If it's happened with vaati and the four sword, why can't it happen with demise and the master sword?
@jd.cd24937 ай бұрын
The master sword we see in OOT wouldn’t be in wind waker since it was sent back in time to the child timeline

I think its like a perpetual radiation. Theres sentience and he's been in the sword so long he may as well not exist. But the raw power and hatred is there, and it leaks out into the very aether of Hyrule. And when enough hatred coalesces it takes form. Basically, there's like a "malice radiation" effect.

if you break the seal he will be released again, let me explain. ive never played the zelda games but if the mastersword is the seal and demise was put in that seal, then the mastersword works like a seal does, if the seal is removed(or in this case broken) he would come out because there is nothing holding it in, its like he hollowed out the sword to live inside it, so if the seal is broken he will come out and reform

I do have a few theories myself on this topic. A - Somehow purging the Malice from Ganondorf, using it to incarnate Demise himself and wipe HIM out. As you said, literally destroying the source after literal AGES of learning how. Hell, there is even a chance to REFORM Ganondorf and have him fight on the side of Zelda and Link, because ... Do YOU think Ganondorf will be happy knowing his evil was just influences from someone meaning to control HIM?! B - My girlfriend believes that destroying the Triforce itself would end the cycle. Not wishing it away, like A Link Between Worlds, but LITERALLY DESTROYING the Triforce. After all, the Triforce was the center of the ENTIRE conflict. And imagine the events that could happen along the way. Would Goddesses Din, Nayru, and Farore THEMSELVES step in to try and stop them? Would Hylia herself possess Zelda and become your enemy? So much could be done here! C - The main trio themselves would have to be made aware of the curse and agree to be done with it. Imagine if Ganondorf, Link, and Zelda agreed that they were done with the cycle, and together used the Triforce to wish it away somehow! And the journey is about the trio discovering the events of Skyward Sword, while the entire way Demise's Malice is trying to stop them. We have already seen it's power to possess things. And maybe there could be events where you need to play as Zelda... or, dare I say it... As Ganondorf? I dunno. Just a few thoughts I had. And they are JUST THEORIES! I don't really have a lot of evidence to back any of them up. But I hope you at least had fun reading the comment!
@tuftedmocha79942 жыл бұрын
Destroying the Triforce won't end the cycle of hatred, it will just destroy the world Hyrule is part of - A Link between Worlds explores this concept directly since the Triforce wasn't "wished away" but was deliberately annihilated to prevent war. Doing this accomplished nothing, as that annoying, self-proclaimed artist Yuga still appeared and caused trouble due to the demon tribe's curse. As for the notion of Hylia possessing Zelda - maybe. And the idea of a Hylia-possessed Zelda being the enemy? Nope. Not a chance, since she sacrificed her immortal form to become mortal to destroy Demise to begin with. But the other ideas are interesting. Learning about the curse, finding a way to break it, fighting and destroying Demise for good, the other goddesses stepping in directly to deal with things (like they did in ages and seasons?). These ideas could make some very interesting games indeed!

Love the idea....but...if the Master Sword is broken, and we assume Zelda and Link defeat Demise for good, then the cycle curse is broken right? Then whats next? No new Link or Zelda, no new Story to continue the plot. But idk...most likely wont happen since The Legend of Zelda franchise is so big. But its fun to speculate about.

It would be cool if one of the next games did something like this. (If botw2 isn't the last, of course.) They'd break the sword in the beginning, Demise would be freed, and then Link would spend the rest of the game either doing things without a sword at all, or trying to forge a new sword.
@tanukidrummer4 жыл бұрын
When it comes to this theory, there is a small hitch to it. In Skyward Sword after Demise is defeated and is any trace of him along with his demonic aura are absorbed into the Master Sword, Fi tells Link to place the Blade of Evil's Bane into its pedestal. Doing so would begin the process of purifying the remnants of the Demise and his aura and thus eradicating him the world. The curse Demise set into motion exists independently of him, and takes more forms than just Ganondorf/Ganon. Ganondorf is a physical representation of Demise's hatred yes, but the monsters that plague Hyrule are part of this curse too. There is also another element of the curse that no one seems to notice unless you pay close attention. Aside from a big badie and monsters, Hyrule has dealt with loads of internal strife and turmoil for millenia. Although it does go through long periods of peace, occasionally Hyrule will break out into civil wars of varying sizes due to political shifts and personal desires. Hell Hyrule has been through a few wars over the Triforce itself, and as of Breath of the Wild has been dealing with a mini cold war of sorts between the Royal Family of Hyrule, the Sheikah, and the Yiga Clan for nearly 10,000 years. With Breath of the Wild 2 coming out, what if another micro battle of sorts comes up in Hyrule? For 100 years the land has lived with no royalty over them, and all of a sudden princess Zelda pops up out of nowhere. Not only does that mean the royalty is back, but Zelda is also a bit of a fan girl of the ancient Sheikah tech that until recently was causing loads of problems for people and slowing growth and expansion. I'm sure some people in Hyrule wouldn't be too keen on having a queen who fawns over killer robots over them...

This is actually pretty likely, I never even thought about it that way. Your channel is so cool. You think your theories through and they never feel like a reach or a**-pull. I'm always looking forward to new Zelda videos honestly. Sometimes it's so crazy to think about the fact that Fi has been residing in the sword all these centuries. She watched over every single Link and after her goodbye in Skyward Sword that is even more heartbreaking and heart-warming at the same time. I got way too excited when she started speaking to Zelda in BOTW. I can't wait to see where they hopefully might go with her. Also: That moment when the MaskedNintendoBandit advertises Audible for its attractive voices and narrators but the most attractive narrator with an attractive voice is himself 😭

I like it. I can imagine a game where we defeat Ganon again, maybe this time it's after an even darker period in time than BotW. The land ends up scorched and barren, finally we are victorious and as we let down our guard and begin to celebrate with Zelda and the others we're stopped by the sudden appearance of Fi. She tells us that our task is not complete. We need to end the cycle once and for all. We have to then go on one last mission to unmake the master sword and destroy Demise once and for all. We need to travel to each of the 3 springs. perform a ritual and each time it weakens the swords seal until finally it's left as the goddess sword. We take the sword back to it's pedestal and when we're ready, plunge it in. We're met with an explosion of darkness, the goddess sword and the hero are thrown out and as we regain our composure we see the figure of Demise standing before us. He is weakened from losing his power in the last incarnation of Ganon but still quite formidible and confident that you are no match for him. He thanks you for freeing him from his prison but he has no time to toy with you, Zelda is his target and you are in the way. You take up the goddess sword and fight him again as the hero did so long ago. After a long fight and nearly falling, Zelda and link use their combined ability to destroy Demise (maybe through a triforce wish). After this, Link places the worn maybe even by now broken shards of a sword at the pedestle. He turns to zelda and sees a golden light. Demise is gone and the goddess soul is leaving the princess. The bloodline is free from the curse and peace is finally returned to the land. This time, forever. or something like that.

My theory is similar except that my reason that calamity Ganon can be revived after 10 000 years even maybe without the trifle ever of power is because calamity Ganon is nothing but malice and hatred. That malice is coming from ganon’s mummified corpse. Ganon’s hatred is undying, so the malice is unstoppable. To stop the malice they have to eliminate the source like you said. But in a different way. Hopefully masked Nintendo bandit can see this.
