@@MrPista Well I'm from the Netherlands so we ride our bikes everywhere 😂 and students can ride buses for free so when I was in college I did that haha. It's crazy tbh, quite a lot of people in their 30s here don't own cars or have a license

I was fortunate enough to get an euro mx-5 na as my first. I recommend it to any car enthusiast. It thought me how to drive a car with almost no assists and respect how dangerous it can be even with a slow engine (90hp). It loves to grip like a go cart, but sometimes it can start sliding in the wet, so keep that in mind. When it starts to slide it is quite predictable and easy to correct. As to what transmission you are supposed to get, get the manual. Shifting is so much fun in that car and traffic has never been an issue to me. Specially when you learn to rev match and heel and toe. The clutch is so light that you won't feel fatigued at all. Buy them while they are cheap. They will get quite expensive I believe. Which makes me kinda sad. It's one of the last cheap options for a rwd car that is this analog.

They might be the last affordable sportscar of it's kind and will probably rise in price a little. Though I don't think they can go to crazy, becauese there are a lot of them out there... And an MX-5 is a really nice one🔥 But I actually have completly forgotten how these cars prices were in 2019🤔 So you know how much is was back then? And maybe what it would be worth now?

@@MrPista Back then the prices for were around 2000-3000 Euro for the NA in a semi good condition. The NB was sometimes even less. Today most people sell them for around 5000 Euro. It's still cheap for what it gives you as driving experience, however it makes more sense to buy a different car that has less mileage and sometimes more horsepower for less money. There sadly isn't much more choice for a RWD car in today's market.

@@Alstrak Sounds like a good Deal... And Yeah, it makes sense to buy a more modern, spacious and powerful car, but they don't offer such a fun driving experience! The only other cheap RWD car I can think of, is the BMW Z4... And they cost a little more than a Miata

I gotta say, I get her point. She worries about your safety... But just as well I understand you wanting a fun cool car. If you get in an accident, it would be tough. BUT that's why you would and actually need to drive more carefully and cautiusly. So that would make you a better driver over time 🤷‍♂️ And as a random idea (idk if it's even possible) but adding a rollcage would really help protecting you a lot in a miata🤔🤔📝 As a Tipp... Don't try to convince her by telling her you can just drive save. Convince her by teeling exactley how you will be safe in a definitle matter. Yk what I mean?

@@Mel12722 that Argument about roads focus is not great I feel like... Even though I guess I understand her thought. 🤔 Driving a manual, you have to focus more on the road than in an automatic car. Becauese you gotta Look ahead and think about where to drive at what speed in which gear. Also you will be so used to changing gears that you don't need to Look away from the roads or anything at all🧐 At least that's how I'm driving haha In Germany, as I'm 17, I can only drive in Company of my parents. In my dads manual car, I have a feeling for how fast I'm going and need to put more thought into reacting to what's ahead of me and when to shift to be at whatever needed speed... In my mums automatic car, I hardly get a feel for which gear I'm even in and feel less concentrated driving it. To be fair, I have way more seat time in my dads car and I'm biased becauese I think manuals are also way more fun to drive... But I still stand for what I said And apart from that, I feel more Comfortable driving a manual, especially at lower speeds and parking, becauese I have more Precise control using the clutch (instead of waiting for what the car decides to do with it's clutch in an automatic)

I have one, the only drawback for a beginner drive would be the low torque, so can be tricky in some situation.Other than that, it's a fantastic first car

They just have a way more analog Touch to them so you really need to develop some skills to drive it propperly. And that's what I really love about these cars...

Best Option would probably be to insure it through your parents I guess, as insuring your first car in your Name is damn expensive. I mean, I just turned 18 like 1 and 1/2 months ago and my parents gifted me a kind of family insurance policy. So I can drive all cars in my family circle (even Cousins and Grandparants cars that are insured by different companies) for like 400€ a year👀 Sadly it only Covers cars up to 20 years of age... So I can drive 3 cars and the other 7 or 8 not🥲 So that example also wouldn't work for your case with a Miata🤷‍♂️ So I suggest you to talk to your parents about it and just do more Research fitting your situation, yk?

Beam is right i'd say, as an ecu tune makes them faster and the exhaust makes them Sound better (exhaust can be expensive) If you care about styling you should just add Some weels If you want safety, buy New brakes and tires For sure a good choice to get a Miata my friend 👍

@@elytus8245 also in Deutschland ist Winter ja sowieso "relativ" haha Aber mit guten Winter Reifen und einiger maßen vorsichtiger Fahrweise (wie mit jedem Auto im Winter) sollte man gut klar kommen. Man muss aber trotzdem im Kopf behalten dass es eben ein sportliches Auto ist! Sicherheit ist leider kompliziert mit dem MX-5. Alt, klein, leicht... und somit im Falle eines Unfalls weniger schützend (ältere Autos sind häufig so, schon allein wegen Sicherheitsstandards zur Herstellungszeit). Und da die Karre einfach was kleiner ist, kann man für andere schlechter sichtbar sein. Demnach sollte man defensiv fahren, wie man es auch in der Fahrschule lernt, nh? Also das sollte alles kein Problem wirkliches Problem werden, aber man sollte bedenken dass der Wagen eher für Freude mit Budget entwickelt wurde. Also muss man allgemein etwas achtsamer sein beim Fahren. Hoffe ich konnte dir weiter helfen!

I mean I looked at some insurance quotes a few months ago and Landed between 1.8-2.5k € a year or sth, if I get an E39 soon after my birthday.
