Right after the pain of trying to figure out how to use the radar properly I'm cracked at using Mig23Ml I'm almost got the Mig29 with it just got to research 2 Mig21s and 1 Mig23 in that row and scene I get out early today from school I have time to research 2 planes in 1 day.

Agreed I got a 7kills game with it at the start of the game I use the 24r and at the end the 24t I found them op with ir mode on the radar enemies don't get any warning and they get clapped it's amazing you're also very fast to repositioned

At high altitude, the radar works fine. You can BVR just fine. The only difference is that it takes slightly longer to find targets and the targets on radar are a little smaller. Launch at 25km and it will hit still, esp if your going fast in the first place.

I think it still worth it but gaijin messed up the radar a lot by not allowing the player to control it manually, and by manually I mean picking what mode to use whenever its needed

@McXerYT in my case, I use the mla and mld, since I dont really have the ml tbh, but sometimes I wish I could activate manually the mti mode or something to erase noise from the radar, like the one generated by mountains in the Afghanistan map. But still is a very solid plane.

3:16 idk, 24R’s are great in sim too, its just harder to use em in sim cause you have to fly at alt lower than ~1400m above the ground and never point your nose upwards and here you go - you have very good (for its BR) PD radar with 30km of range + 2 the best (for its BR) radar missiles + the best 2C performance (for its BR) + you have the highest top speed on the deck + the best acceleration. In terms of IR missiles I bring 2 R-60M’s (that aren’t very useful even at such low BR) and 1 R-13M (some sort of Soviet Aim-9J, can ignore some flares sometimes, pulls hard enough to hit manoeuvring targets and has OK-ish range )

Got it a while ago on a sale and grinded the entire russian air tree in about 2 - 3 weeks - haven't flown it since the nerf but back then it was defenetly a jack of all trades. I highly recommend to learn how to use manual wing sweep though.

I really thought it was bad when I first got it. Mainly because I couldn't get locks in a head-on and launched the missiles incorrectly so I switched to the R24T and that was my biggest mistake. The R24T is so flare hungry that you're basically helpless against very aware and competent players because the R60M is even worse in that regard and they can just flare anything you throw at them. Just learn to use to the R24R and you will improve 100%. Yesterday I had a 6 kill game with a 1v4 I won in the end. Would have been 8 if 2 of them didn't suicide/crash after I was getting on their 6.

I been using it for a while. The radar definitely is extremely frustrating not for the reason of target finding but its IFF identification is inconsistent as shit. You can scan a target 3-4 times (in the air not low) and swear on my nuts target ID swapped. More than once. It feels sketchy to rely on the radar for ID. Other than that the jet is perfectly fine except in turn times
