50 yards past the entrance to Sanyo sands is a car park where we paid £4 to park over night, no services but right next to where you were and a lot cheaper than peek season and we walked along to Sanyo sands etc, just if your ever up that way again.x

Thanks Kat! I'm loving your narrative. We did a section of the 500 about 8 years ago (including the Applecross section) and you're making me want to do it again.

that was a fabulous leg of the journey Kat and I loved every minute of it. I also loved the campsite you stopped on and the cave-both now on my bimble list- but most of all what I like the most is the infectious joy and enthusiasm you display in every video. It makes them a pleasure to watch. Bessy regs-Kenny

The Chocolate Mountain is a life saving experience if you’re on a bike. With inclement weather. At the end of a long day in the saddle. 😊

Lovely video Kat. How I have i missed Smoo cave, I've driven across the top of Scotland on a couple of occasions on the way home from Orkney and missed it. Next year.

Back in the seventies this route before it was called the NC 500 was mainly occupied by motor bikes and the locals, since then it’s become a tourist attraction, and has been ruined by camper vans because of the size of the modern vans, they take up all of the road on the single track parts of the route, nobody can get past them unless your by a passing place. I did the NC500 again this year on a motorcycle and counted 100 of the new large vans and gave up counting. I saw so many incidents involving various vehicles I couldn’t wait to finish and get away from it all.

Ah! Memories of my trip there. Didn't do the zipline (at 73 I thought I might be too old 😢) but agree that Smoo Cave was awesome. Shame I missed that campsite but I'll certainly try and visit next year when I visit the area again. Somehow I missed all the bad weather and had 2 weeks of almost unbroken sunshine, in October! In Scotland!! Another great video Kat. Thanks.

If you think that’s steep you should try running up the hill from the pub in Robin Hoods Bay - THATS a hill! ( I did it for a bet, but I WAS young)
