The only time I need a coin is when I go to Aldi Grocery and need to use a quarter in the shopping cart. I often don't buy much at aldi when I con't have a quarter with me. Just get what I can carry through the store. I do like the. clean look and the thumb slot missing isn't a bother. I'd use the pull over the thumb slide any day!

Thank you, I was waiting for a review of this Aviator Slide One. I think this is a really good upgrade from the previous Aviator slide cause one of the things that I really didn't like about the previous version was the coin tray. Since it is a completely removable part which leaves just a thin metal back plate. Now that it has an actual screwed acrylic back plate, it now looks more solid. That is actually one of the major reason why I opted to purchase the Ridge wallet instead of the Aviator. I don't really care much about the thumb slot so it's fine with me that they removed it. But there are still 2 things I wish they improve on before I actually decide to purchase one. First is the cash strap, I wish they use a separate elastic band for the cash strap so that the tension on the cash doesn't affect the tension on the cards. Just like how it is with the Ridge wallet. Also since it now has an acrylic back plate, they can choose not to thread it like how it is now and just have it wrap around the metal back plate. That would give it more space for the cash and make it easier to access it. 2nd is the pull tab, it would be better if they design it where it somehow goes in the acrylic back frame then out the top so it would be more secure in place unlike now where it can easily move sideways and you can actually pull it all the way out the bottom.

Hmmm. Not sure what to think. I have the Aviator Slide and really like it. I probably would have bought the Slide One if it was available when I got mine. But...the coin tray is handy. I keep some coins, a spare key, and an extra bill (stops the rattling too). Without this one being thinner, I just don't see the point.

I love the Aviator slide! The only down side is when you put in your pocket you better not have any keys or any sort of metal stuff with it or it will scratch it!

@@ChrispyThings im about to disassemble it for the first time and discover whats up with the tension. Upon ordering i specified 3-6 cards, however anything more than 3 already feels tight and hard to fan out. Also in the paper book which came in a box they mention numbers which are quite different from what you mention in the video. In fact the booklet information makes little sense when explaining the second position of the main band. Here is exactly how all their descriptions go. 1. 1-3 cards 2. from 3-6 cards 3. from 12 cards So i get the 1st and 3d positions. But in the second the wording is wrong. Why not simply write 3-12? Or 6-12? I feel more customization options went into the pull strap which matters much less than the main band. Edit: update after adjustments. I’ve set it to 12+ and my 6-7 cards now feel perfectly not cramped, nowhere near to falling out during shakes and fan out easier. Before it was a struggle taking out a middle cards. Hope this helped to whoever reads it.

I agree. Getting rid of the thumb slot may have been a mistake. Don’t need the coin tray but nice for a key. But the thumb slot was also nice to keep that aviator card in there for looks so you can see aviator.

"Cleaner look or more functionality? I'm going for functionality every time." This sounds like a good philosophy on the surface as if it's a generic representation of improved utility, but more features aren't always a positive. If you take it further the wallet might also house a jackknife, a bluetooth radio and a powerbank. Your fridge can have a screen with Android that can play Doom, but do you want that? Good design is often less design - shaving a product off to its core and making it do the one thing it's meant to do right. While the thumb space seems nice, it is practically rather clunky. It's also superseded by the pull tab that does it all better, so I see why they removed it.

Just think the Aviator Slide with the cut out, but with the second frame piece so no need to carry the coin holder. It would’ve been one of my favorite releases of this year so far.

Good review! I'm not a fan of the top of the pull tab dangling. I think if it was somehow retractable, like others I've seen, it would be a nice addition. Also...someone dyed part of their beard!

Aviator tells you not to make a credit card the first card under the thumb hole due to no RFID. So I prefer having the more aesthetically pleasing wallet with no rattling wasting space coin thingy, a better "V" for easier card insertion, RFID for ALL cards, and when I pull the tab, the first card is the first card. My preference: the new Aviator Slide One.

The one thing about the titan x I have is its fixed to 14 cards max and it comes with either a money clip or a strap and the also have a version without the pull strap and they have a version like

So the Thumb Hole Slide Aviator is a waste IMHO. Aviator themselves tell you not to make a credit card the first card under the thumb hole due to no RFID. So I prefer having the more aesthetically pleasing wallet with no rattling wasting space coin thingy, a better "V" for easier card insertion, RFID for ALL cards, and when I pull the tab, the first card is the first card. The coin tray needs to be engineered better. I bought mine with the coin tray but I had to remove it because the pull tab at times gets stuck inside of it.

I think the Ridge is made in China. That's a no-go for me. I'm weary of supporting our enemies in any way. The Aviator is made in Germany... which is better IMO.

The Ridge is an American company based in Los Angeles. They only outsource the making of the wallet to China. You’d still be supporting an American company
