@@markellott5620 it is fine, but when you are struggling to get up to motorway speeds you suddenly feel very vulnerable on the roads, and if you are screaming the engine just to do 60mph, that's when the riding becomes less enjoyable. Yes this is marketed at the city, but a bike that only works well in one location isn't great
@markellott56202 жыл бұрын
@@dannywhite132 plenty of machines are marketed for a specific niche. If you want to tramp up the motorway, this isn't the bike for you. To claim that it isn't suitable for UK roads is patently false as evidenced by the amount you see on UK roads. As for 'screaming the engine' to get up to sixty... These Enfield singles get up to sixty and will cruise comfortably without screaming. If you want to get up to that speed briskly, you just don't short shift. I use a Scram on dual carriageways on a daily basis for work and have no difficulty moving with the traffic (and keeping up with students on bigger, more powerful machines) and haven't had to 'scream' it yet, nor have I felt remotely vulnerable. Okay, so I have all of another 4 bhp... Maybe that makes a difference.

I own a meteor 350 which shares the same engine and brakes both of which take some time to bed in and get considerably better as the miles rack up. I would reconsider you range as the fuel pump needs to be in 2 litres of fuel to keep working the fuel light on the meteor when you theoretically have another 120 miles of fuel in it. This bike is a good addition to the lineup Royal Enfields have largely shed their build quality issues and the j series engine is though low powered is perfect for this sort of bike .

Okay, you've answered a question that was puzzling me. The Scram's warning light comes on when I've still got about four litres in the tank. That would explain why. Now that it's run in, acceleration is brisk and the brakes, likewise, have bedded in nicely now. As a training bike, it is ideal - useful for plodding about on CBT road rides and keeps up with the Z650s and MT07s on DAS courses, while keeping my running costs down.

The problem is I live in a sprawling city in the U.S. midwest where it's just practically necessary to be able to ride on the highway at 70 MPH with enough power remaining to accelerate 10 MPH - 15 MPH, even if it's just for five to ten miles. I don't need a leader bike or a crotch rocket, but if it can't reach 80 MPH - 85 MPH then it's really restrictive. I have my eye on the Interceptor 650 as it looks like it can do the job.

I love the overall look of this bike,especially the matte color ways. But 20hp?!😢

It's the light handling that will make it fun, no high expectations for speed though!

If youre expecting power, im afraid you are looking at the wrong brand, & bike category entirely.

Yes it’s amazing that there are almost no good looking retro cruisers around the 500cc/ 40 bhp bracket. I’ve tried the Rebel but the seat and riding position is far too low for my liking…plus it’s a lot dearer than the RE.
@wandereronabudget89002 жыл бұрын
I know it seems a little underwhelming on paper. But it's a brilliant engine. Works quite well in the city. Unless you want very high speeds, it'll get the job done, rather well! For higher cruising speeds, look for the RE 650s.

In reality, there are many more competitors to the likes of Brixton or Mash (Chinese small displacement motorcycles)... I think this bring some "familiar brand safety" to that segment...

Going back and forth between the hunter 350 and the meteor 350 I'm debate if I should wait for the hunter to release in the states

meteor may get an upgrade to 650 early 2023. may want to wait for that.

My local dealer here in the US says they might get 3 in April, and that's it. Super Meteor is coming in August and they haven't gotten a number yet for those.

One tooth bigger on the front sprocket and a tooth smaller at the rear would up the gearing to a better level but would the 20hp engine be able to push it or might it bog down?

direct competitor is Honda cb350rs, which sadly isn't available in south america just yet. looking forward to this one.

I bought a second hand Street Twin from a dealer last year. Gave me problems from the get go so I sold it 6 months later. Maybe it was just a bad egg. This Hunter has caught my eye 👀 though, how reliable are they?

Wondering if RE might put the Scram 411 engine in this. For some of us who miss the 500.
@RRRRefuelRideRace Жыл бұрын
Great video. The main question is, if it is worth going for the Scram just for the fact that it is a bit more powerful? :) Who knows?

I ride hunter 350 to work, and it's easy to flick it during traffic, but I do crave for more power 😐 during long rides.
@andersbarfodsvaneskolan9378 Жыл бұрын
not sure why Enfield has limited the power output of the 349cc single and the 411cc single cylinder engine.. The 411cc has a bore/stroke ratio of 0.91 and a modest 24.3hp output.. TEC parts in the UK designed and new camshaft for that engine and with a few other mods (less restrictive airflow) the bike gained an extra 20% power and had a power output of 29hp.. .. Which made it better for European highways.. I see that Hitchcock have a new performance camshaft for the J series engine (349cc) but not in stock before march and there is no mention of what gains to be expected but even a modest 15% should be welcoming giving it 23.2hp instead of 20.2hp.. If torque would be increased by 15% it would be a stronger pulling bike with 31Nm instead of the stock 27Nm,, The even longer stroked 348cc Honda air-cooled single makes 30Nm at a low 3000 rpm.. How come the Enfield only make 27Nm at 4000 rpm.. ????
@STEALTH1DAN Жыл бұрын
Yeah if the hunter had the slightly more powerful engine of the scram 411 would be better...in my opinion

A great bike with a maximum speed limited to just over seventy miles per hour. But don't be discouraged Tec Bike Parts & Hitchcock's have one or two bits that will improve the ridability but unfortunately not the top speed....

Good looking little with nice colours to chose from at a very good price mark. I just hope it's a better ride than the RE interceptor 650 because the steering is pretty heavy on that bike, feel old as well. Will it be comfortable for my 6'2" and powerful enough to move my 16 1/2 stone heft though?
@chrisw4215 Жыл бұрын
I wouldn't worry about your weight, but I'm also curious about the frame, as I'm 6.2. RE sells bench-style seats for this bike. I guess it could be good for taller riders
