Is the NEW Victors Out O' Sight Mole Trap better than the OLD trap ?????

Just purchased a Victor Out O' Sight Mole Trap (new packaging) and it appears to have the original spring! Coils are thick and closely spaced as in the video and there’s no way I can set it with one hand.

That is awesome news ! Sounds like Victor's may have switched back to their original materials. I'm sure they heard from quite a few unhappy customers. There are a lot of professional varmint trappers that use these for moles and such. Thanks for the heads up. I'll have to go around here and check our local stores to see if they have the beefier ones again.

Oh wow, I did not know they did that to this trap. I'm gald I buy way too many when I buy stuff like this. Some moron kid probably convinced them they could save money on shipping weight alone and that most people couldn't catch a mole anyway.

LOL Yes, I too tend to buy extras in a lot of things like this. I started out with one at first. Caught my first mole within a couple hours of setting it. Went back to the store and bought several more. Good thing too as my wife ran over 2 of them with the riding mower. Ughhhh Thanks for watching for commenting. Happy trapping to you !

I'll probably end up doing that. But, I'm going to give it a couple more chances & see if it will indeed catch a mole. Then I'll beef up the spring and just be thankful I still have 8 of the old style left. I won't let it go to waste. Thanks for watching and giving your input on how to make it a worthy trap. 👍👍

Yep, it's sad they had such a great trap, and then just do a 180 on it and produce junk in its place. And if they actually do manage to catch a mole, it's going to suffer a miserable death over the original traps' ability to do the job much quicker. A big fail on Victor's effort to continue to produce a quality product.

The new ones suck, Chinese GARBAGE. I've called Victor multiple times trying to convince them to either go back to the old design or at least make the old and the new design & charge more for the better quality design that's more expensive to make. They seem to not care. Somebody else needs to start making that old design.

I agree with you. It's definitely a slap in the face to Victor's reputation for even attempting to market this crappy trap. Guess i need to call them and complain as well. 😕

The new ones aren’t great with that spring. I won’t buy anymore unless I can find the old version. I do catch some on the new ones but I only use them if my other traps are in use. The absolute best is the trapline mole trap and a DK1 death clutch for gophers.

Don't waste your money on this mole trap. The new design sucks. The spring is weak! So weak that it barely closes in the soil. Much less catch a mole. The spring simply is not strong enough to make this an efictive trap. The old design worked perfectly. The redesigned trap sucks!

From what I've seen so far. You are absolutely correct. I'm gonna tinker with the spring by seeing if I can get another wrap or two out of it. Then maybe it'll have more power at the jaws.

I was thinking about doing that. Problem is. Removing the spring pin enough to wrap another coil could be challenging. A piece of round stock like 1/2 thick and about 20in long. Drill a hole in the end larger than the spring thickness

@@MrMike47274you ever try messing with the spring ? I was wondering why it’s so damn weak it catches on the soil sometimes. I don’t even like back filling with soil because I’m worried about it. I just cover it with a bucket. Iv still caught several but I didn’t know about the old ones. Gopher hawk is my favorite right now. Death clutch is my favorite for gophers.

I also super glued an old debit card to the bottom of the trigger to give it a wider surface area.

@jamesstewart2560 No, I'm planning on it though. I just haven't had much time to mess with it. Luckily, I don't currently have any moles working either. I've not ordered a gopherhawk yet either. Man, I best get on the ball.
