Thanks man, it is crazy how these influencers/photographers/videographers on social media influence people with their dumb tests and claims... almost nobody is going to shoot at pitch dark... As someone out there on KZbin said: "Ultimately if DR matters more than readout speed, then buy the Z7ii. If readout speed matters more than DR, buy the Z6iii. And if they both matter, buy the Z8." Boom! lol

Agreed! Tests definitely have their place, but if I went solely off tests, charts, and graphs, I don't think I would've bought this camera, but I'm glad I did. This thing is awesome, and I've loved it so much! Also...I definitely want to buy a Z8 after using this Z6iii so much XD

I would like a z8 with 24mp sensor. Or a z6 with a 24mp “full stacked” sensor (like z8). The z6iii autofocus is not so good, so is not an option worth considering. My bad.

Pretty good real world test case. Photography/Videography is really niche in this day and age, and even experts are mere users of tools rather than their designers. So the understanding of how things work are really just a matter of these tests. So the more merrier! I've gathered that the flickering seems to occur in select cases, though, in most real world uses cases the issue is either minimized or outright not present. But I suppose time will tell. and we'll see how Nikon responds in the next month or so.

Yeah, I was just watching PetaPixel's podcast on it. Might test it myself just to see, but while using the camera with correct exposure I haven't noticed the flicker.

Hey man just stumbled across this.. great stuff. Happy to see it works for your in real world. I've been a little bummed watching the reviews after picking up the "zed 3" - love it so far, but haven't pushed it so much. Interesting that you push exposure vs. slightly underexposed. Also cool intel on the Viltrox & Meike.

Thanks so much man! Yeah, I'm making a video on the flickering shadows right now. They exist for sure, but it's blown WAY out of proportion it's actually crazy haha. People saying it's "unusable". Also, I think most Log profiles benefit from slight overexposure. Cleaner shadows when the image is dropped in post.

Great video! The colors and image smoothness is so delicious on the Z6III. It is the poor man’s Arri Alexa LF. People out there criticizing the camera are pixel peeping and looking at charts. But in real world filiming, the camera’s image is gorgeous. I own the Z8 and love it, but I always felt the image was too sharp on video. It’s still great, but I’m looking for a high end cinema look, and the Z6III delivers with a nice rich creamy image. Can’t wait to get mine.

I wouldn't guess that you have that subscriber count , wow ! Well done for the quality content ! I tried to examine those clips of yours and i've found out that the most perfect example of shadows flickering was the actual talking clip. Is it because of compression or is it a good example of it ?
@TannerSimpsonMedia
@TannerSimpsonMedia 4 ай бұрын
Thanks man, I appreciate it! Any flickering in my talking head is going to be KZbin compression. I shot it at 800 ISO, and most flickering doesn't show up (from what I've heard) until the higher ISOs and in the RAW codec. I'll look into the flickering more and see if I can recreate some of the things I've seen on KZbin.

Same, I'm a concert photographer and I would like to find a test concerning this machine in real conditions. Talking to me about the dynamic range etc, for me it's abstract. I need to see to understand, but most influencers hardly test it, they take 3 photos in the studio, 1 photo outdoors and they throw out the technical specs without correlating it with reality. That's why I'm stopping listening to them now. I ordered it, I'll see when I receive it! But I'm afraid of being disappointed, I wanted the Z8 and I still don't know which one is better in concerts.

@@TannerSimpsonMedia Main reason for wanting me to buy Z63 is better low-light, Internal sensor stabilization and comcact design compared to blackmagic rig that i use. And AF sometimes (I never ever use it but it should be a good option) But mostly as a B-cam or for reportage shooting. But for the other aspects and especially image quality BM is no-brainer for me in this price point) New pyxis btw have the same sensor as bm ff, so for me it's definetely skip. I like exicting form factor and big in-body screen :)

That Dynamic range hoopla is for people that dont realize that KZbinr using the camera isnt a Nikon fanboy. All cameras have their own issues. Exploiting DR is one way to downgrade a camera that they probably will never use. Now to be honest Nikon isnt known for video. I own the Nikon Z6III and it is better than the Z6II for video. Use the Z6III but dont jack up the ISO and think your not going to have acceptable noise.

That footage looked great...I'd be very happy with that! In my latest video I took a walk around my city downtown on a Friday night and just recorded video (4K 10-Bit h265) with the Z6III and a 50mm 1.8S wide open and Auto ISO, hand held, and honestly...no complaints (other than me being a clumsy videographer, lol). All these doom and gloom tests are just silly.

Is there a NR setting in the camera? I know the A7SIII had NR in camera. So there will be a difference in noise. What I find is people are not good at exposing these types of camera this is why they are having problems. I have a Z6III coming tomorrow so I'm excited to see what I can get out of this cam. Nice vid bro, will sub, Peace bro
@TannerSimpsonMedia
@TannerSimpsonMedia 4 ай бұрын
Thanks for the comment, bro! There is noise reduction happening in H.265 codecs, and it's baked in so you can't change it. But there is no noise reduction added when shooting in RAW as far as I'm aware!

i guess Peta Pixels guys & Robert doesnt know how to use the camera, your Nikon Z6iii shots are comparable to my Sony A74 DR
@TannerSimpsonMedia
@TannerSimpsonMedia 4 ай бұрын
I have no doubt both channels are far better than me at using the cameras, especially Nikon. I just think so many people get hung up on graphs, charts, and do wild stress tests (like shooting underexposed, etc.) and don't look at what the camera can ACTUALLY do, and how it feels to actually use the thing. Another thing to bring up is that KZbin definitely compresses and ruins footage, so it makes the difference even smaller.
